Horrible battery life!

Oliver, I agree with you but, I don't see a difference in boot time whether or not fast boot is on or off with regards to boot speed. Also, what I've done, 2x so far, is to let the unit drain to 15 percent, turn off and then plug in to full charge. I also did this again and charged with it on to full. It helped. I start my day 5am with a full charge, get home at 3pm at 60 percent, by 11pm, I'm at about 20-30 percent. I do have the ability to plug in at work, but I've been avoiding doing that unless I'm using it heavily. This is working well for me. I've noticed, and I used to be like this, that some people start to get anxious when the device gets to 90-80 percent and they think they must plug in. I've broken away from that obsessive behavior and am enjoying using this device all day on a single charge easily.

I had the same OC behavior with the battery too. I am still sort of trying to break away from the "oh no, I have lost 20% of my battery I must charge NOW!" (thanks apple for conditioning me like Pavlov's dog). In regards to the fast boot, this was on the recommendation of the HTC rep. She said that with this setting on it keeps the phone from actually using less battery due to it needing to run on the battery to turn on so fast. Also in our conversation how/when to charge she said to "spot charge" throughout the day and to never let it charge overnight. The battery should get on average 12,000 cycles and just as any battery when it gets hot it deteriorates and loses more cycles. If it stays connected to the charge longer than 100% for a long period, like overnight charging, then expect a crappier and shorter battery. We all likely paid a lot of money for this phone so aside from making and receiving phone calls, battery life is paramount.

Auto backlight ,4G most of the day with WiFi off until I returned home. Bluetooth and GPS on. I have found that turning WiFi off when not in use is a huge improvement.

Not sure if you are still having issues with battery life, but if so try this out...

Under Settings -> Wifi, look for the Options (or whatever the 3-dot symbol stands for) in the upper right hand corner and go in to Advanced. There's a box that says Best Wi-Fi Performance, if it's checked then uncheck that box! This one change made my HTC One battery life almost triple after doing it, and I haven't noticed any loss in WiFi signal at all. Hopefullly that helps.

I upgraded from the HTC Rezound with an extended battery. The Rezound would be on life support after 12 hours of low to moderate use. The One still has better than 60% battery with the same of amount of use. I agree with other members who have said if the battery is running down after only a few hours than there is something wrong with the phone and it needs to be exchanged.
