Hotspot turns on then off immediately

My new S5 works perfectly aside from the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. When I try to turn the wireless hotspot on it just turns off by itself. Sometimes it lasts a minute before switching off, lulling me into a sense of false hope before my dreams of connectivity are dashed.

Can anyone offer any explanation or solution?

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier do you have? Is wi-fi hotspot capability included in your data plan?

My carrier is Tesco Mobile via EE (UK), and I'm not certain of the inclusion of hotspot compatibility, however I'm using the contract sim from a previoius phone (S3) and I remember the hotpspot worked fine on this! I have tried Factory reset but no avail

It might be a defect. Contact Tesco or Samsung about it, and see if you can get a replacement.
