[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

Try to install the driver from here.

READ the instructions carefully on how to UNINSTALL the existing driver. I had problems getting the Nook to be recognized in my Windows 7 Virtual Machine and that's because Windows installed some sh1tty driver, which I had to manually remove by going to Device Manager.

So to recap

I burned the sd card and it works.

I installed the ADB drivers and under Windows 7 device manger my nook shows up as

Android phone
Android ADB Interface

I have rebooted both the computer and the nook countless times, tried different varitions of the nook color plugged in and unplugged for all these reboots

I use CMD (which I placed in the platform-tools folder) when I run ADB devices I get

C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached

C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>

I have killed the server and restarted it and get the same results every time. I also noticed when I installed the ADB drivers it made a new folder under my Android directory called "android-sdk-windows" in there is another platform-tools folder. So various reboots and etc and then running the adb commands from that folder I get the following...

C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached

C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>

SO I know windows is seeing the nook color, I know ADB is working just fine so where am I going wrong?

Does anyone see the options to CHANGE WALLPAPER?

My friend's Android phone have that option under Settings --> Screen. As a matter of fact, all the option under this category is the same for both HoneyComb and Android phone EXCEPT for the change wallpaper.

HC and password

This may not be solved yet but I flashed the HC to my 16GB class 10 SD card and it loads up on my nook but it is asking for a password. I saw an earlier post on this but no solid answers yet. Wondering if it has be resolved yet.

I'm having an issue pushing the Vending.Apk..It's in the right file (platform-tools) in the ADB folder, but it's giving me an error in the cmd saying " cannot stat Vending.apx: no such file or directory".

any ideas?

I had to go to ASTRO File Manager at first (free from the marketplace). Navigate to the picture in Astro. Tap/hold on the pic, and you should be able to get at menus to set as wallpaper.

You should also be able to tap/hold on any desktop space/nav screen, which allows you to call up the options to set widgets & wallpapers & stuff like that. I don't know what you call that screen (my NC isn't powered up right now). There just aren't many wallpapers at first, and somehow I couldn't navigate to the pictures that I wanted to use as wallpapers (hence the use of Astro).

I also swapped to Gallery3d.apk, which seems to be the gallery thing on the newer Honeycomb tablets (I forget where I got it). That seems to have fixed the navigation/indexing of the new pics I've added to my NC, so I no longer need Astro to swap wallpapers.

Thank you to all the devs. I am enjoying my Nookoid or Androok if you prefer. The most difficult part was getting the market up and running. I ended up using a different version mentioned earlier in this thread.
Summary:
8gb Class 4 SD Micro working just fine for me! (bought at Staples for 20$)
Easeus used to expand partition allowing full access to card!
Finding that some of the apps don't work as good as others but that's ok.
$270 android tablet and a color nook ready for the new Nook Market by the end of the month. I am so stoked.
So the question is, how do we benefit the devs? Is there a donation process?
Thanks again.

Hello All...sorry if this was already covered but I was unsuccessful in my search.

The instructions call for a SD memory card. Later, the instructions reference a microSD card...are these terms being used interchangeably, or do I need both? Thanks!

Micro sd is the only one that'll fit, so that the only size you want.

I've just put the SD card into my NC and upon the first start-up I'm stuck on a black screen with "ANDROID_" in small text on the bottom left of the screen. I've left it at that for over 10 minutes and it still won't load Honeycomb.

Upon browsing through previous pages, I'm letting you know that I"m using a 16gb class 10 SanDisk brand SDHC card.

Help???

You need a micro-SD card which can plug into the nook. The nook has no place for an SD card. Get a class 10 card, I had a class 4 which worked but had issues that went away after I went to a class 10. Class 10 is faster than class 4, and not much more expensive if you shop around a lilttle. I picked one up from newegg

Quick question. I'm totally up and running, the only exception being full access to my 16GB card. I'm using Easeus to try to expand to make it happen and have expanded the 'sdcard' partition to 13.4 GB. It says that the partition has been expanded, but the card still shows as only 118MB (the size of the boot partition) and I can't put anything on it. Do I need to be expanding the boot partition?

Thanks in advance!

The boot partition shouldn't be touched. It and the "sdcard" partition should show up separately (at least they do on my Mac). There are also a couple of other small partitions which you probably won't see when connected to your computer, although they will be displayed in Easeus. These should also be left alone.

Thanks! I was pretty sure I had to keeps hands off the boot partition. No joy on the sdcard partition showing up separately though. Any win 7 users overcome the same issue?

I can't get easus to even recognize the sd card. All it reads is my hard drive and external. Its the only thing stopping me from moving from autonooter to froyo or beyond.

I found I had to put the micro sd in my usb reader in order for easueus running in administrator mode to see it. Remember to "apply" after moving the partition slider. It would not work while connected through the data cable.
Also, I find that sometimes I need to reboot my pc before and after working through data cable. With a lot of this stuff we are living on the edge and it never hurts to reboot (a couple times I have had to hard reboot as Win7 has locked-up trying to shut down).

Fortunately I've got all the easy stuff covered...I'm using a usb reader and the software properly...just no dice on mounting the sdcard partition. Any thoughts?

I was able to install the honeycomb with no problems, thanks! I'm having trouble with the android market install. I have the two files downloaded but can't seem to grasp the remaining instructions. Where exactly to put the dowloaded files and how to get to the command prompt in the folder to run the commands. I might need a little more detail on those instructions. A little new at this, but thanks for everything thus far.
