[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

Can you install this if you are already rooted and already have the maket or do i need to start all over? I really want honeycomb any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can boot from a SD card whether or not the NC itself is rooted.

Anybody else having big issues with touchscreen sensitivity along the borders, specifically in the browser for the tabs (which are almost unusable)?
It usually takes 60+ finger-taps before I can do anything with the tabs (eg select a tab or close a tab)

I am having a few issues. But nothing in the neighborhood of 60 taps. 10 max before I get it to go.

Now where do I find Market 2..2.11?
... and GoogleServicesFramework.apk.?
Please don't use software jargon, only frustrates people like myself.

Could someone please explain the steps one by one for someone who is a dummy in Android like myself.

I am not a developer, only a user and want you to hold hand step by step concisely. I am not a hacker either but willing to learn how you can access Marketplace on HC using the Nook Color.

Thank you.

Both files are in the very first post. Just follow the instructions and you should be cool.

So perhaps someone can riddle me an answer to this issue. I was playing around with HC3 v4 last night on my brand new nc. I decided to play it safe and use a vista 32bit netbook for all this.

I have a 4gb Sandisk card to use for booting from. I downloaded the img wrote it to the card using the win32 img program first.

NC booted into Honeycomb but I could only get one or maybe two touches to work before it locked. Rebooting would yield the same results.

So I formatted the card and used (I think it is called) windisk imager to write to the SD. Same results, one or two touches and it locks.

Now here is an interesting part - If I leave it attached to the netbook via the USB cable it works perfectly. Touch multiple times, found the wifi, browse the web etc. Disconnect the USB and it goes unresponsive.

Any ideas? I am going to try with another sandisk card tonight. but I think it is a different problem somewhere.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks to everyone that helped me!!

Touchscreen off (calibration?)

I think i remember reading someplace that the touchscreen pixel size can be adjusted. The sensitivity is fine, even along the edges, but the location mapping is off. For example, if playing air traffic control (the landing spot doesn't line up properly) Not that I care for a game, just seems interesting that the calibration is solid in certain instances and very off in others.

Any thoughts.

PS great build and thanks for everyone's help in all the forums. Your posts are what got me to be able to do this especially the adb. The advise was awesome and its great to have HC running on my NC!

I just installed v4 on a Sandisk Class 2 card. The touchscreen sensitivity has improved for me.

I installed HC v04 on a Kingston 4GB class 2 microSD and it sort of worked but it was dog slow. I installed HC v04 on a generic 8GB class 4 microSD and it was stuck at the Android screen on bootup. Then I tried HC v04 on a Patriot 8GB class 10 microSD and it runs perfectly! I recommend using a class 10 card.

ANDROID_ (flashing underscore) and it stops there

I have expanded it using WinRar,7z, and WinZip.
I have used both WinImage, and Win32DiskImager to install the disk image.
I am using an 8 gig HCSD card, (only class 4) from PNY.

I get the Loading . . .
Then the ANDROID_ (flashing underscore) and it stops there.
I have let it stay until the screen goes to sleep, and woken up.
I have powered down and restarted, no avail.

On the off chance that I had a bad card, I have installed Nookie Froyo on the card, version - 0.6.7, and this runs fine.

So I am officially frustrated

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I experienced this same issue on an A-Data 8GB Class6 card. However I did find a fix!!!

1.) Obtain Partition Wizard Home Edition from Download.com (free)
2.) Use this to delete all partitions from the SD card. Then Write Zeros to it (quick mode is fine). (In this program you make your choices then choose apply at the top left and it will process them in the order you had chosen)

3.) Use Windows Disk Manager to format in standard FAT32 format (I did not use quick format).
4.) Use Windows Disk Manager to assign it a Driver Letter for access.
5.) Start again from step 1. on installing the nookhoney image to the SD Card using WinImage.

This worked great for me!!

Still wouldn't work - I'm guessing my card just isn't up to it.
I'll try a different card

But thanks for the suggestion

NC honeycomb

I completed the install with no issue,,great job. I'd noticed that I could not bring up pictures for viewing. Do you know what might be causing that and if there is a fix?

NCHONEY

I have followed the instructions to add honeycomb to my NC. It's works! Problem..the device comes with 8gig,,,but after installing honeycomb 2 times,..i still only have 1gig of internal storage..is there a fix for that,,did i do something wrong? I was thinking about going back to stock and starting again?? Any suggestions?
Have a great day!

Same thing happened to me as well. Only 1 gb of space left. Also how do I root the HC v4 image that is on the card? Then how do I install the market? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to resize the partition called "sd card" (which is one of the partitions on your SD card) so that it includes the free space on the card. Easeus (free) can do this by mounting the card (in an adapter) on a Windows PC.
