How to enable LED light around camera cutout and more!

I've got it working for messages but not for missed calls...I have four rows of "Phone" in the Enable Apps dialog. I have then all checked. Should I be enabling something else?

Here is what I did. Enable all of the "phone" options with a different color. call phone and see which one it is. I was able to remove all but one.

OK, so I just noticed something. After watching YouTube videos and even watching my girlfriend use her phone, I couldn't understand why unlocking my phone via the fingerprint sensor was so delayed compared to what I was seeing. After I pressed my thumb on the sensor, it would recognize it and then take a second or so to unlock the screen.

After reading that this app might possibly be draining battery, I uninstalled it this morning to test battery life today. As soon as I uninstalled this app I noticed my phone would unlock faster via the fingerprint sensor. It wasn't placebo either, it unlocks noticeably faster now.

Just thought I would share. I'll see how the battery life goes now.

Anyone else noticed that this app has updated at least 5 times over the last day or day and a half? No clear explanation for all the updates.

Can't seem to get it to work if I have AOD with Edge Lighting enabled. When the phone is unlocked they both work at the same time but when locked. Anyone know a solution?

Edge Lighting may be the culprit. Disable it and see. Or check settings in AOE "when notifications a come" and check "always, off or on"

3rd party apps like this will most likely cause battery drain.reminds me of the app Blink for BlackBerry...

There are 2 built in choices such as the flashlight flashing and screen flashing.works better as it is built in.

Where do you see those built in choices? I would like to have the ring light up but I don't want to mess with my batter life. I am currently using edge lighting which is ok but I have to wake the screen sometimes to know if I have a notification.

Setting-Accessibility-Advanced Settings-Flash Notifications

There is Camera Flash, and Screen flash. You can use both or one of those to alert you with notifications.

So it looks like Holey light is giving me a notification light around my punch hole when my phone is in AOD.

Nice.

The Always on Edge Edge Lighting app, shown in the video directly above this post, was worthless. Until such a time the dev can fix it so that it can actually show notifications when the screen is off or showing the AOD, it completely fails the main purpose of providing you with easily-visible notifications when you aren't using your phone. Tried it and uninstalled it.

An app that has a lot of promise is Holey Light, app store link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.holeylight

As of right now it is "unreleased" so is essentially a beta app, but it already works better. It provides a swirling light around the punch hole when my phone is AOD. It is clearly still a work in progress, as the list of apps you can select for which it can provide notifications is odd and missing things. For example, you can get notifications for Android Auto or the app (Holey Light) itself...why, makes no sense. But I can't select any of my text apps to receive notifications, or the phone app for missed calls/voice messages. Snapchat is on the list, but I had someone send me a message via snap and got no notification. So, still work to be done. BUT, it does work for my email app (Aquamail) so the dev has shown it can be done. Can't comment on how badly it drains the battery because my phone is on a charger most of the time.

Keeping this installed until something better comes along or the dev makes further improvements, and I'd gladly pay $1-$2 for a good robust version of this app. Samsung really should have included this OneUI, it such a no-brainer with Amoled screens.

I hope Samsung enables LED notifications with a software update. I tried third party apps like Holey Light and they used a lot of battery.

That weird because Holey Light hardly use any battery on mine. He also just updated it yesterday.

anyone who wants the LED notification around the cutout could give GoodLock a try.the Edge Lighting + is not bad.but doesnt work for all apps.

The only problem with the Goodlock method is that the "notification" does not stay light until you dismiss the notification. It is really just an extension of the edge lighting...
