How To Get Rid of the 4.0.4 Radios?

But there is no need to flash recovery with adb its in rom manager takes less then five mins to flash.
We are dealing with recovery. I was just asking if she knew how to use sdk/adb. That way, she could just flash the recovery with adb.

From reading the thread you linked, have you tried holding down the power button to turn the phone off and turning it back on again?
Just tried it - disconnected it from my computer so it wouldn't get power from the computer and then held power down multiple times but still have the screen. Tried holding volume up/down together along with power and that did nothing, either.

I think since it has been 45 minutes I will do a battery pull.

OK that worked. I think I will get that root checker app and see if I lost root.

ETA - root checker says I have root access so I will get root explorer and install CWM Recovery as permanent.

Yes. Are you familiar with Android SDK and ADB?

If not, I believe you can just use this method:

1. Install Root Explorer from the market and delete /system/reboot-from-recovery.p ? *Mount as R/W first

2. Go into ROM manager and reflash Recovery

3. You should have permanent CWM after that.
On my phone I only have a file called /system/recovery-from-boot.p. When I press and hold it, it says I can't delete it because it is read only file. I try to change the permissions and it says no to that too because it is read only.

I have mount as r/w. I gave root explorer super user status.

Right, I understand that. I was just asking her if she was familiar with adb. That's all.

As soon as you open root explorer, you click the "Mount R/W" button?

Yes see here

This is the message I get when I try to delete the file. I think there is something wrong with my root access.

Right now, in that screen shot, you're mounted as R/O. Hit the Mount R/W button, then you'll be able to delete it.

OK, I thought the button was showing me that I was mounted R/W. I was able to delete it.

 Now go back into ROM Manager and flash recovery and you should be good to go!

No more dead android! Thanks!

I was getting worried, the tier 2 VZW guy I spoke with this weekend iis supposed to call me back today about what the engineers have to say about the 4G tower near me and I didn't want to have a bricked phone!
