How To Guide Too Install Android 4.0.4 update.zip

Re: Manually install ICS direction

Hold the power button until you get the "phone options" menu and then choose "power off."
With the phone powered off, while pressing and holding the voume up and down buttons at the same time, press and hold the power button until the phone starts and then release all three buttons.
You're now in the "Boot Mode Selection Menu"
- Press the volume "down" button once to move the selection to "recovery"
- Press the volume up button once to select "recovery"

The phone will now boot into recovery mode. You should first see the Moto logo followed by a picture of a droid.

these are directions from a moto device but its the same on the viper...with the phone ON....jus hold power and choose power off and immediatly press vol+&vol-&power button at the same time...wait for it to power up and release the power button whill still holding vol+&vol-

Press and hold the voume up and down buttons at the same time.
Your now in the recovery menu.

Re: Manually install ICS direction

IS there a progress bar on something? Just setting here for maybe 5 minutes...

Re: Manually install ICS direction

renamed the file update.zip put it in the root of the sdcard and then rebooted into recovery. selected the install update.zip option and now its sitting on the screen with the box and the android. I was wondering if there's a progress bar or do we just wait?

EDIT: figured it out....home button is the select button....

Re: Manually install ICS direction

i think ppl are gettin confused with what the home and menu button functions are, so it seems..."home" button is the select function...and the volume up and down is for scrolling

Re: Manually install ICS direction

just press menu key to go back to menu and use home button to select, and you can thank tommyjoe for that little ditty

Re: Manually install ICS direction

cmd tells me "c:\" is not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batch file... HELP!!!!!( thanks by the way to everyone working on this)

Did you ever get it to work? I'm having the same problem.

Re: Manually install ICS direction

People unfamiliar with cmd are probably having a little trouble. Use the command "cd c:\adb" to change directories to the adb folder.

Re: Manually install ICS direction

To get into recovery once you get to the factory reset screen and it asks you to confirm,do that and as soon as you see the next screen press the menu button. Next to the home button. If i remember right that's it.

Re: Manually install ICS direction

When I get to the c:\abd directory and enter the command it says daemon starting something or another but then eventually concludes to "Device not found"
?? I'm in the debug mode.
