How to Root

Dirrk's One-Click method worked first try. Thank's everyone who had some input on this topic. Now what are the first thing's besides titanium backup and getting rid of all the bloatware, that i should do?

I got Launcher Pro Plus, but is the lag-fix really gonna be necessary when we get 2.2? And what other benefit's do we get from installing the Voodoo kernel other than the higher QS scores?

If your phone is stable using the LV Voodoo kernel you "should" get better battery life.

Mine is running fine on the LV kernel but have only had it for 1 day so I can't comment on my personal barry changes.

I've been stuck trying to get my phone rooted for the last week. I have tried the Root using a mac and I have tried this one click root and i cannot seem to get it to work. I get the same thing iTz Nicholas72 got in his video. I can't get it to connect after my phone restarts.

iTz Nicholas, could you actually link me to the manual root. I cant seem to find it?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Nevermind I got it!

So something I have learned, you cannot use a mac running bootcamp to use the one click root method. For some reason it won't wait for the phone to restart and it will cancel out too early. I used my friends laptop running xp and it worked perfectly the first try!

I used the one-click method and I am successfully rooted. I think. Everything said success but I downloaded ROM Manager and I can't make back up's. whenever it tries to boot into recovery it says:
--install from package...
finding update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-life signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I think this is preventing me from making backups and I also can't install the voodoo lag fix until I figure out how to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

I have TiB Pro and it is great for backing up apps and freezing programs I don't use, but I wanted to install the voodoo lag fix and I can't do it. I can't install anything using update.zip because of this. I have been looking on other forums and it seems that others using the Epic have had this same error and have to boot into clockwork recovery manually so maybe I will try that. Now I just need to look up how to do that.

In order to apply those update.zip's the best thing to do is use ClockWorkMod. Boot into CWM recovery and use that to apply the update.zip.

I rooted using this 1-click method but for some reason im unabke to download roms from rom manager its granted superuser access when it goes into recovery mode the bar fills halfway then stop it says unable to verify signature any suggestions?

Is the link broken? When I click on the link to download the .zip file, I get nothing but a blank page - the file never downloads. Help!

okay i did all that was included in that tuturial. It was successful and said complete, But now what? doesnt look any different. dontt see any differences? is that all?

Alright, so i rooted.. Thats all I have done so far. But, now my battery is acting like it is "charging" even when it isnt. And any battery widget shows 0% battery. Any fixes?
