HTC battery thread

I think the battery is great. It add such a better feeling to the phone. It didn't get a full first charge but even at that it only dropped 20 percent after a full day of use were as the phone would usually be dead by the end of a day

this is definately a personal preferance. I think it makes the phone way too big. I'm glad I decided to stick to the smaller one.

I let my battery get into the RED everyday for a week, then placed it on the charger. then for the same time frame I could get the battery to last into the yellow. Now after 2-months of having the phone, I get about a day and and half before needing a charge. I have about 30 apps loaded, so I think I'm doing OK....I hope this helps....be patient!

Eris Battery Questions

I got my Eris about a week ago. Since then, I've been reading a LOT about the inadequacies of the battery. I have to agree. I started with 100% this morning at 6AM. Since then, I've done nothing except read one email, go out to my home screen 6 or 7 times and check my Status 8 times - and I'm currently at 67% at 3:30. Seems like a lot of deterioration for a small amount of usage. Anyway, as I've said, I've been reading a lot and have several comments/questions that I would appreciate feedback on.

I currently have my WiFi set to Never Sleep. I have a strong WiFi signal here at home. Does this make sense in terms of decreasing battery usage?
I have Advanced Task Killer installed. I have killed Footprints, VoiceDialer, Market, and Albums. I know I could kill others like Weather, but without those, what is the sense of having a SmartPhone? It would be like having a regular cell phone, wouldn't it?
I could buy a new, larger battery, but some people say that the 1750 size fits fine, others say that there is a gap and you need a case. Which is it or can it be that some fit correctly and others don't - and it's just a crapshoot?
I'm sure that I will find other questions that you all on the board can help me with, but any comments on these (for starters) would be most appreciated! Thanks!

The seidio 1750mah battery fits fine, no gaps with the back cover. Not sure what other people are smoking. IMO, that battery is a must if you actually use your phone. Unfortunately the Eris isn't really setup for optimal battery usage. It's either software, hardware or both which contribute to the less than ideal battery life.

Task killers are a waste. I have used them extensively for 2 months, No appreciable upsides. Battery life is not longer, phone doesn't run any faster. The worst part is people are killing apps, processes, necessary background features which shouldn't be touched in the first place.

The first thing you should check is awake time. It should be <20% unless you use your phone 24/7. If it's high, you have something that is not letting your phone sleep.

Need more info? I'm sure someone else will respond.

I concur regarding task killer use. I haven't used one in weeks and the performance always works itself out. One valuable thing I have done is I used NetMeter to monitor the CPU activity and I found that some apps were using significant CPU while idle in the background.

I'll concur on the Seidio 1750 battery. I've had it just over a week now; I now no longer worry about battery life, and have set my notification intervals to quicker times. The first time that I tried to put the back cover on, it seemed to not snap closed all the way around, but I think that I was being too gentle. It fits fine on my Eris.

Just a little update, The battery life is amazing with this battery. It exactly the way i wanted it to be and lasts me just as long as my blackberry which had amazing battery life, I would definatley suggest this battery. Just a little example. With normal usage such as some web browsing, a few half hour to hour phone calls, a couple facebook updates and google map searchs. I used to take my phone off the charger at 7am and come home and by 7 to 8pm with that usage my phone would be at 15 percent and i would have to charge it. Same usuage with the 3500mah battery and i take the phone of at 7am and by 7 to 8pm i have anywhere from 80-85 percent battery life. No joking its that much better. not to mention i love the feel of the phone more also because it adds a little more substance to grip then it used to and makes it feel more like a phone. Thats all!

How is that thing compared to say a Touch Pro2? My g/f has one and I think it's huge, but may put up with it for a battery that will last days not hours.

Can't speak about the 3500. I bought the 1750. My phone routine is the same. I unplug at 4:30 am. I travel 4 days a week. My phone usage is fairly close from one day to the next. With the stock battery, by the time I got home, which was around 6:30, I would have around 30-35% left. With the new battery, which I just got Tuesday, 2 days with it installed, by the time I got home, I still have about 65-70%. Tonight was a bit later than normal, around 8 pm. I unplugged earlier today too, 4 am. At 8 pm I had 60% left. Today I really used the phone more than normal, just to test it. I am happy with the results.

Was it worth the $59? Hell yea. And in case you read other-wise, the back cover fits perfectly over the new battery.

Ryobi, can you provide a link? I want to take the 1750 plunge but also want to be sure that I'm getting the one where the back fits 100%

1750 draining fast today

I've had this for about a week, I usually have about 40-45% at about 9PM. Today I noticed it is dropping quickly, was @ 88% within an hour and its already @ 35% at 1:30 PM. My usage has been about the same. I keep wifi, gps, bluetooth etc off, I'm in a strong signal area, I've restarted etc. I'm going to let it drain then recharge it and see how it behaves tomorrow.

I've had mine a week. I use mine constantly and I see a 15-20% improvement(guessing).

It seems to drain the quickest from 80-25%.. Probably just the way it registers the battery info on the display..

It is an improvement, but if you have access to chargers, not sure it's worth the 49.00..

I have the 3500 and it is amazing. The battery life is like night and day from what it used to be. Granted it's bigger but I like the feel so much more actually it feels more substantial and I absolutely love it.
