HTC battery thread

thanks jcharris08, for all the info. does this mean you are recommending the 1750 battery. i too use a skin, it is a silicon skin.

awesome man thanks, i am ordering the case tonight. please kepp us updated on the battery. i was concerned that since the battery door does not fit perfectly, the phone would mess up.

no issues whatsoever. Its same battery size as the Hero's (1500) which is slightly thicker then the eris's. Still fits and snaps, but with case on you can't tell, plus i love the case, looks and feels great. excellent price too.

Besides the Battery Life

I played around with both the Droid and the Eris the other day and I like the Eris, but I am concerned on the battery life issues I've read about on here as well as I read the Eris is not on 2.0 yet?

Thoughts or am I just a paranoid S1 user?
Thanks appreciate the input

Battery life - mine was horrible, then I installed autotask killer and powermanager lite. Since then it now matches what I used to get on my iPhone 3G (about a day maybe a little more)

2.0 - No the Eris does not have 2.0, YET. Should be hitting our phones in Dec or January. but to be honest. 1.5 with HTC's enhancements is an amazing experience. There are even some features that the 2.0 Droid is missing.

Battery is HORRIBLE!

Auto Task Killer... I can't find.. did you mean Advanced Task Killer? Is the free version sufficient? Any specific settings you used within the applications?

So far I've gotten 27 hours on the stock battery with regular usage... Some web browsing, some music playing, text messaging, a few phone calls and a few pictures taken, wifi off, BT off GPS off and 3G on...

What i did is turned off ALL Autosync for ALL my apps... When I want to check weather or Emails, Ill manually sync it... Also, NO YOU MAIL!!! That was the biggest killer... On the Home Screen, only widgets I have are the Music, Pandora, HTC Calander, HTC Clock with weather, Weather and bookmarks....

I dont have any task killers or battery saving apps, none of that...
I also have the backlight auto dimming off and the backlight at 25%...

My Uptime (which was started as soon as it came off the charger) is 27 Hours and my Awake time is 2 Hours... So far I still have 48% Battery life left...

The Key to this phone is stopping ALL OF THE AUTO SYNCING THIS PHONE DOES!!!!!
When you have your facebook, weather, email, myspace, twitter, address book and Calendar syncing it KILLS the battery!

If you dont believe me, just for a few days, remove all 3rd party apps and stop what ever can sync automatically from syncing and watch the battery life go up like crazy. Whats so hard about opening an app and pressing the update button? It save your battery like crazy...

Go into the settings for each app that syncs and set Auto to "OFF"... Also, for the google apps (Gmail, Calender, Phonebook) go to settings then data sync and turn off auto sync but leave background sync on...

Apps that sync are usually ons that are always updating like facebook, myspace, sports scores, weather things like that...

I am one of those people who would love for the phone to last 2 days even with all the syncing on but for what it is, its not a big deal just to hit the update button on my apps and have my battery last forever...

Took it off the charger yesterday at 10AM and I think it will continue to go on till 10AM tomorrow...

The battery life is not the greatest as of now, there are a few fixes that can be done to help, also someone has had success with using a bigger battery from a hero? That as of today is working and he said it has added an aditional 30-40% on his battery life. task killer is easy to use just check the app you want shut off. You will not be dissapointed in the long run with the eris, I am loving mine

No... the one I use is Automatic Task Killer, its free. Works great. The interface on the program itself is a tad clunky, but the benefits from using it are very good.

As for other app settings. I don't use push anything, facebook or email so I don't have them on. GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth are things I only use here and there so I keep them off until needed.

One BIIIGG thing is to stop using the built in SMS program. Get Handcent SMS and turn off all notifications for the htc SMS. There is a known issue (on the hero, and perhaps on the Eris) where it will stay in memory and keep the CPU running constantly.

Recieved the 1750mAh battery today from Seido for the Hero. Fits pretty good in the Eris, with the exception of the sides of the cover not clipping all the way, but as posted oh here already you dont even notice it if you use a case of some sort. Cant wait to see the bateery life improvement.
