HTC EVO 4G LTE: Last Update 4.13.651.4

I am beginning to think that this may be a lost cause. No word or updates from HTC on this in almost a month? Am I wrong about this or have I just lost hope?

I have not heard that this is definitely the final update, but Mo tweeted two days ago that data roaming is indeed fixed. The implication is that this is it. The end. Would be happy to be wrong. I asked Mo Versi, Jason Mackenzie and Martin Fichter when the FINAL RUU will be released, and all I got was that customer care would send me the 4.13.651.4 RUU after I contacted them.

Has anyone had any issues with the Connections Optimizer crashing or constantly wanting to send error reports to HTC? Is it best to leave it on or off? I am running 4.13.651.4. Other issues I have noticed is if I put a call on speakerphone, it wii kick back to the phone. I have never had that happen to me before.

Has anyone had any issues with the Connections Optimizer crashing...

I just upgraded to an LG G2, but for several days before that (maybe a week?) I had the same problem with CO while on the .4 update. Got to where I just tuned it off - I never could decide if it was worth the aggravation. Never bothered to look too deeply into the source of the problem.

Noticed something recently that I did not seem to experience on the prior builds. There may be a possible memory leak, but I am not sure if it is an issue with the build or the app in question.

I regularly run Dailyroads Voyager while I am driving. When .1 came out I had no issues with it, but with .2 I did not really use it much. A couple weeks ago I started using it regularly again and I have found that it will cancel the video recording with an error about low memory. Sometimes simply restating it works but more often I have to close it, kill as many running apps (in background) as possible and then restart. But this is only temporary, as 10-30min later it will stop recording again. Sometimes I even have to restart the phone, then kill running apps to get it to work again. Then there are times that none of that seems to help.

In regard to running apps, nothing has change in the number of or exact apps that I run regularly, since before the initial build was released. Also, I did have the phone replaced a while back (recon'ed) but it was not a problem at first.

Has anyone else experienced this problem (low memory) ?

The phone has gotten almost unusable at this point. Three or four incoming calls a week (that I know of) simply do not go through or register in any way. If I am on the road and I connect on a call I get between three and five minutes tops before the call drops. If I am stationary I can get as much as ten minutes, but the call is going to drop. I am dropping as many as a dozen calls a day. It is actually quite embarrassing to have to call a client three times to get one conversation in. I have tried prl updates and data profile updates and sprint even went through a hands free reactivation. Nothing has made this any better. the network is sooo bad in this area and this just makes everything ten times worse.

Sounds like either a bad network area or a problem with the phone, probably hardware, although I would re-install the update to make sure. I also travel a lot and I'm not dropping calls much. (One in the past 2 weeks that I can remember). Overall my phone is working as good or better since the update. Data roaming works, although it is a little slow to switch at times. I don't like the dialer as much. I'm looking at updating to the M8, but am waiting to see how it works. The fact that with the new Sprint Tri Band phones you can't talk and surf at the same time, like you can on this phone, kinda bums me out a bit. So I'm good with this phone for a while maybe. The network has been improving rapidly in my state, and I have LTE a lot now. Hope they get to your area soon......

Probably not hardware. The phone never did this before. The proximity sensor has always been some form of a train wreck though. My etf's become affordable in about another month so I am just going to take the whole company to Verizon. I should have done that back when Nextel was cut off. This has been a VERY painful two year learning experience.

Same here Vader, two months and my Sprint contract is up. Don't know where I'm going yet, but it won't be an HTC phone or Sprint service !!!

I have had many of the same issues with my evo. I could have upgraded in January and though about getting the one m7. But I wanted to see what HTC's new flagship was going to be. I'm sooo glad I waited. The one m8 is fantastic! Every issue that I had with the old phone is gone. Most of the issues with sprint's network are gone too. The only issues that I have are related to the continuing build out of the network. 4g speeds have improved, staying connected to lte has improved. As far as the camera goes, I was worried about the reviews, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Remember, it takes a while to build something from the ground up. As far as HTC , the new one m8 has made me love my phone all over again.

Glad to have data roaming fixed. However, 4G LTE was turned on in my neighborhood 3 days ago, and that is a bigger deal! Been waiting 2 years, and the EVOLTE . 8.2 Mbps down and 4.2 Mbps up with only 1 bar. Hopefully will be better with more towers turned on.

Back to the 4.13.651.4 update: Shutter sound not a problem for me. Still have the broken live wallpapers, but Muzei is fantastic and better wallpapers anyway. Sprint connections optimizer still gets confused occasionally, but I was able to data roam and voice roam in the Bahamas.

Played with an M8 HTC One today. Gorgeous phone. Boom sound is even better than the on the M7 One that 3 family members have. But I may either wait until next year or until the price drops. Other than speed, the EVOLTE is not that bad. I will again predict that there will be no other RUU updates for the EVOLTE.

While, I guess it's official, no update is coming to EVOLTE. HTC took the opportunity to remove the update status for the EVO when it added the update statuses for Sense 6.0

I think it's been updated as much as it could, for it's age, and for all the support Sprint was willing to give (not much). The current update version is working well enough for me to keep using my phone for a while until I can't fight the urge to get the M8 any longer..(came close today..) I'm happy HTC tried to support it and update it as much as it did. If anyone still hasn't updated theirs, I would recommend it. I have a copy of the RUU in Dropbox still if anyone needs it. Because of the help from Mo and especially Jason at HTC, I am a bigger fan of HTC than ever. I still really like my EVO 4G LTE, but will have an M8 very soon.
