You should! I think you'll be very happy with how much smoother your evo runs. Like Jerzy's evo, my evo is hitting some very nice quadrant scores with the VaelPak 2.0 rom.

Impressive...I just installed this rom too but my Quandrant score is 1224. I wonder why there's such a big difference?

You might want to install setCPU... be careful with some of the settings but you can really improve battery life with setting low usage when screen off and increase performance (sacrificing some battery life) with the app.

Perflock is already disabled so no need to do that and be VERY careful about how high you set the Max setting... vaelek recommends 1152 (also should "detect" it through the program). some CPUs might be able to go higher but mine froze and rebooted with 1190... do not check "Set on Boot" until you have figured out the highest setting so that it doesn't reboot and freeze up over and over again

I installed the v2.0 that comes with the kernel and I can't get higher then 31fps on fps2d...whats wrong ?

There are 2 versions of 2.0 make sure you downloaded the correct one. I loaded the wrong one the first time.then you might try posting your question in the developers thread.

Can someone please answer my questions.

1. Does it matter what kind of screen you have. Weather an Epson or novac because I heard the cap was only unlocked for the Epson screns not the novacs yet.

2. Will rooting the phone and loading these custom roms have any effect on the video cameras capability.


I say this because I am having choopy video playback when I ubdated to 2.2 stock and took it to Sprint and they told me I could not bring it back to 2.1.


So now I am looking into this option. So how the HD camera working? I heard their were problems when running these custom Roms in regards to Video recording.

I'm pretty sure that you're not running the right kernel.

Go to Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software Information to find out which kernel you're running.

Kingxkernel #9 is compatible with vaelpak 2.0. Just download the kernel. boot into recovery mode, and flash it the same way you would a rom. EDIT: You need to do a wipe while in recovery mode.

*Edit 2: After running Quadrant a few times, the first 2 or 3 were in the low 1200s. The last 4 have been upper 1300s, low 1400s(which is higher than I ever got with base 2.2). Not sure how accurate this is, but Fps2D says i'm averaging 52 FPS as well.

I have a Novac screen and mine is capped. 32's in NeoCore, 52-54 in fps2d.

It depends if the developer of the ROM has reworked the camcorder app. I've personally talked to Vaelek (developer of VaelPak) about increasing fps, increasing quality of HD video and improving audio quality. He is in fact going to be working on it.

Choppy playback is something on htc's end. Unfortunately he hasn't (don't know if any other developer has) been able to work on that.

No problems at all with the camera working or camcorder working on the VealPak rom.
