I'm evaluating the 64g HTC One Developer Edition. If I like it I'll sell my 64g iPhone 5 and it'll pretty much be a wash price-wise.

Yea right you know there's about as much a chance of you parting ways with your iphone as there is of me streaking the streets of Dallas in nothing but a low cut, tight fitting RG3 jersey.

The one and only :)

Glad to see you are trying out the One. But if I was one to bet on such things I'd put a good amount of money up saying you won't get rid of the iphone. I tried it in store today. Couldn't talk them into letting me walk out with one. My Nexus 4 may need to start packing to make room for this sweet piece of hardware.

Good to see the Cowboys decide to keep Romo.

Anyway, I test an new high-end Android phone each year. The S3 almost got me to switch last year. Also, jailbreaks (the state in which I really enjoy my iPhone) are getting harder to come by. I'm just getting tired of waiting for them, and I love trying new things.

Good to see you again, aggie.

Called 3 best buys and 4 At&t stores. One At&t said they had one but when i got there said they wouldn't have any until the 19th. Looked for an in stock At&T a bit away with the online tool. When I called the lady said that she was sure they had them but i insisted she check before i drove down and 2 minutes later she got back on the phone with the 19th message again.

Yeah iPhones (along with other apple products) typically hold their value longer than competitors. I think for a couple reasons:

1. Perception of apple products being premium
2. Devices are supported for several years after release. How many android devices released last year still have not gotten jelly bean or will never see it without flashing a rom? Too many.
3. Timing of product releases. With 1 iPhone released per year it helps keep the device feeling new even if it isn't the latest model. Unlike some android oems who release several devices a year which quickly kills their other devices and cause value to decrease
4. Competition. No one else is releasing devices with ios but apple. But android devices kill each other off.

Not saying its good or bad but it is what it is. Take it from someone who is always swapping devices. I see which devices you can get cheaper. You can pick a SGS3 up now for the price that iPhone 4s is going for.

It's not perception - Apple is an outstanding product. Their success is an example of the American dream. Never ever forget that, or that Android copied them to a tee.

Lol ok. What ever you say man. I'm sorry for having an opinion.

Man if Android was inspired by iOS, it has long since moved past that through innovation.

I like Apple products also but, I do think there is a perception of them being premium compared to other products. The HTC One looks every bit as nice & premium as the Iphone 5 but, it probably won't resell as high 6 months after it's release. As far as Android copying IOS, that's debatable. The Iphone was the first of it's kind, a smartphone with inertial scrolling and apps but, inertial srcolling had been around before the Iphone. Android has been around since 2003 but wasn't adopted to a phone until after the Iphone in 2008. I would say Android may have copied some things from the Iphone but, not to a tee. Either way I'm glad we have an alternative because competition is always great for us, the consumers.

Are you a blind sheep? Apple didn't actually invent 99 percent of anything that they've made. Apple is OTHER PEOPLE'S products.
What Apple has always been good at is taking existing technology, making it easy to use and then integrating it into their ecosystem. They aren't necessarily driving the creation of new technologies, but they are good at driving adoption of technologies.

I agree, while I'm selling my iPhone 5 because I can't stand the small size and keyboard, and well, look at the One, jesus.

That said, I'm going to miss the little guy a little bit because it really is a work of art of a phone, I'm just hoping I'll feel the same with the One, if not more (probably more, if not, hey, I have Swype)

Agreed, Apple was literally laughed at when they released the iPhone. Sure, it wasn't the first all touch screen phone and it wasn't the first with apps but like you said, they took what existed already, perfected it and delivered a great product to the masses. I remember reading articles a couple years ago that execs at RIM laughed in the boardroom at the very idea that people would want a decent camera on their phone or surf the web, or even want an all touch-screen device. Who is laughing now?

To go along with that, I remember a few comments made by cell phone companies immediately after the launch of the first iPhone that poo-poo'ed the idea of a touchscreen phone. How times change...

That said, I'm a little tired of lawsuits over rectangles and rounded corners. A lot of cars have four tires and all TVs seems to have large rectangular screens these days. :)

Meh, the lawsuits don't affect us as consumers, they just make the lawyers rich. Apple and Samsung for all their lawsuits, still do billions worth of business together.

Iv called every att store and authorized resellers in 3 counties surrounding mine and only one said they had one to sell, drove there and she was wrong. I did a pre order Saturday, I'm very impatient
