HTC One Battery Life/Stats Discussion

thank you very much where do I find the screen On time?

Screen-on time is one thing, but your phone is awake way too much. You've got something going on there, maybe Facebook or Slacker, that is burning through your battery like a California wildfire. Disable those and see what your results look like. Also, you've got Doubletwist, Lookout, weather, battery, etc. in your notification -- a lot of stuff -- too much if you ask me. Try to cut back on the extras.

Hi All,

I noticed that the when I play movies using Mxpro the battery drain is faster that the stock video player.... Anyone having similar experience or its just a myth...

So yesterday, I conducted an experiment. No power saver, and no battery monitoring tools. I ended getting better battery life than with power saver on. After 18 hours awake and 3.5 hours screen time, I was at 32% still. The previous day with power saver and battery monitoring tools, I would be at 15%. Odd.

Unless you live a very repetitive life, too many things change in18 hours for a difference of 16% to mean anything.

I agree, but Power saver should be saving power as the name states lol. I found that it did not.

How can you get screen time stats without a battery monitor?

That's the exact info I need. How does it perform in airplane mode, any battery issues? Also, how many songs did you get on there, I have the 32gb model and I'm about to transfer 1500 songs, hopefully, all at 320kps. I'm hoping to keep it under 16gb worth of music if possible, I know that's half of what's available, but I don't store much else on here and I app pretty light.

My music is mostly 160kps and my 2500+ songs total 16GB so 1500 songs at 320kps may wind up being more than 16GB, perhaps 22GB.

Here's my exact break-down:

Apps=1.35GB
Music=15.56GB
Photos&Video=724MB
Downloads=487KB
Other=10.17GB
Available=36.21GB

So, if I'd had the 32GB model my free space would only be less than 5GB so if your music winds up being 5GB more you will likely have pretty close to zero storage left.

Thanks a lot. I'll give it a shot and see what the storage space looks like, I always have the option to go 256 or 160. Damn Att and their carrier exclusives, I had my mind set on the 64gb when it was announced, then they came and wrecked my dreams.

Do you guys not like using the Google Music Cloud option at all? I put around 500 of my current favorite tracks on my phone for when I don't have data, then use the cloud for everything else.

I am not sure how to respond. I have had Lookout on for about 5 phones now. It's not even listed in the top 5 culprits as of today
I did use Navigation/GPS yesterday for 5 minutes. And I had slacker streaming thru my Big Jambox for about 30-45 min while getting ready.

That was never a problem. I have beautiful widget on to get the temperature in the notification area, and sometimes like to switch to one of their clocks.

The battery notifier in the notification area I have slways used because I like it up there and like it big. .
in any case I don't doubt what you are saying , as I did ask for help. But what this tells me is that this phone may not be for me...but would be hard to believe since 2 to 3 generations ago I was doing it. I made it thru a day with the N4 np

here is what you asked me to do. I got that program. Installed. Charged above 90%, unplugged for at least 2 hours. In this case, like 4 hours. Then ran the app.

Here is the screenshot from then, and as of now. Still haven't been plugged in and not used

so does this tell you something is waking my phone. I have cleared all recent apps. But it has Maps up top. I haven't used that at all overnight.

Thanks

I can't really talk about detailed stats, but I personally am VERY satisfied with the battery life, coming to the One from the NS4G. The latter would last from 7am-4pm before it was completely dead, while the One lasts from 7am to 20-30% by the time I go to bed around midnight, and that's with a lot of playing around with the phone in the week since I've gotten it. I do quite a bit of texting and internet surfing, listen to music for about an hour total driving to and from work each day, play a couple of games and have mail download every 15 minutes.

I have never liked streaming music as the bit rate tends to be low and the sound quality sucks. If you stream high bit rate music you will burn through a ton of data. So, I just make sure I have enough storage to put my music with room to spare for movies, video and pictures etc.

If they had a version with a uSD slot I'd have been all over it.

10 years from now, and probably a lot sooner than that, we'll all be rocking 256GB and more in are smart phones and some of us will be pushing 1TB. Sounds crazy, but I have a 1TB storage HD on my laptop for just digital pictures and I'm going to need to upgrade soon -- my Nikon D800E eats up 50MB per picture...

For normal day to day listening I just stream at 320kbps via spotify premium, but my main concern was for travel, when I don't have access to the network or wifi. The cloud won't help me there, so I'm kind of forced to store some music on the phone. Sorry for slightly de-railing the thread. On topic though, I've had nothing but tremendous battery results so far. Hopefully we get the up date they're getting in Europe pretty soon, I'm hearing it even better.
