I'm conducting an experiment today. I turned off Power Saver, uninstalled all battery monitoring apps. Let's see how today fares.

alright, here's the update on my battery situation. it's working GREAT now, hardly draining any battery on standby! I figured out that it was a combination of bad phone signal and most certainly a wakelock issue, so thanks a lot for pointing that out to me!

here's what I ended up doing:
first, I moved my phone to an area in my room with better signal (I was getting maybe 1-2 bars beforehand, ugh sprint) so I'm sure that must have helped some. And I also downloaded wakelock detector like you guys suggested, and combined with GSam I was able to find what exactly was causing the wakelock...Now I'm not too sure if this was the culprit, because other people have this installed and they seem to have no problem with it, but I'm pretty sure it was Spotify that was draining my battery on standby. Since there's no real way to quit it aside from force closing it, it kind of just ran in the background the whole time. At the same time, I also noticed another app that reflected similar wakelock duration/frequency as Spotify called audioout_4 which I assumed was related to Spotify. Now I know many people have wakelock issues with audioout_1 or 2, but when I ran a search on audioout_4 I didn't get too many results...however, I force closed Spotify and the battery life on standby has been wonderful since...so I'm guessing that was it?

I'll keep tracking the changes though, just in case it's another app....

thanks so much again to the people who responded with suggestions! I really appreciate it, this issue was driving me crazy haha

I'm playing around with DS battery saver pro. Seems cool and very similar to juice defender which I have used in the past. I'm also playing around with better battery stats and battery stats pro. I'm mostly curious about what uses the battery most but honestly the battery life is pretty good and I'll probably kill all these tools eventually.

DS was the first app i installed when i got my ONE. The setting that has worked for me is to put it on slumber and make sure its on. so in the box you will see slumber on. I've used my phone and when screen is off 3g/4g and wifi will cut off saving me tons of battery (have gone a day of battery life every day since i got my ONE)

I know the phone hasn't been out for long, but has anyone used this phone for long plane trips? I'm looking to use my phone as a dedicated media player during a 9 hour flight to Honolulu. Obviously it will be in air plane mode, and I will be using it exclusively for music using the Spotify App in offline mode. I'm hoping that turning the brightness way down on the screen and having an external usb battery backup handy will be enough to get me through this flight and maybe even our short connecting flight too. I understand that this is a very specific question, but maybe someone has already been in a similar situation.

If you have an ext. battery backup, you should have no problem. Airplane mode will also help, and depending on how new the aircraft is you might get lucky with an outlet beneath your seat, or at the very least a "car-charger" outlet to help you along. Now, if you also plan to play games, watch movies, etc. then you may not last 4-5 hours. Otherwise, you should do fine. Mahalo.

I fly often, too often, and used the One on my last two trips of 2000 miles each way. I used it a bit for music but it was in airplane mode so no comm.

I do have an external battery pack (8000mahr Xuma) so I can recharge several times if needed.

I haven't used it to play movies yet but plan to. What are some options for ripping DVD's and BR's. I have the 64GB ATT model and it's a good thing because with 16GB of music and a bunch of apps my free space for movies is less than 40GB, if I'd gone with the 32GB version of be at less than 8GB for movies, video and pictures.

I wish this also had a USD slot as well as a 3000mahr battery.

Using GSam battery monitor I'm noticing between 3-4 hours screen on time. If I heavily use my phone then it's about 2.5-3 hours but if I just browse the web and text and I can almost get 4 hours. Not too bad. I was worried coming from a RAZR Maxx where I normally got 5 hours screen on time. I'm happy.

The HTC ONE Should have no issue getting through a full day of battery on power saver mode. But when you take that off then you might have to use it lightly. Lastly it annoys me that you can't remove the power saver thing from the notification bar.

Can someone explain to me what does fast boot do and why does it drain battery?

How do you know this option draining your battery? I also have it checked, assuming that it would not have a material impact on battery life. To my knowledge, I do not see any indication that it is, in fact, having a detrimental effect to battery life.

Press and hold the notification until it asks if you'd like to Force Close it. Click Ok and it will be removed from the notification shade.

That's the exact info I need. How does it perform in airplane mode, any battery issues? Also, how many songs did you get on there, I have the 32gb model and I'm about to transfer 1500 songs, hopefully, all at 320kps. I'm hoping to keep it under 16gb worth of music if possible, I know that's half of what's available, but I don't store much else on here and I app pretty light.

You will be fine with that along with the battery backup. I find on flights there is enough things going on that you won't be able to listen to music the entire time. If you have your screen off while it's playing it will use much less juice. And the battery pack can give you a recharge if need be. I would suggest putting a movie on it too.

Spoke to HTC. they think I may have a battery issue. It is a little better but not much. Do these shots make you agree. (I am hoping yes so I know I have a problem) moderate use today and down to 34 in 7.5 hours
thank you

Yes that is terrible, though seeing screen on time would be very helpful.

thank you very much where do I find the screen On time?

Looks like something keeps waking up your phone. That's your battery culprit. Wake lock detector will help you find what's going on
