HTC One Battery Life/Stats Discussion

Impressive, but the reason it was so high was that you barely used it. Less than 3 hours of on screen time. It's easy to get a full day or more when your phone is off.

True, but standby battery life is very important. Most of us have long stretches during the day (I like to call it "work") where we aren't using our phones. With my One that barely eats any battery. My last 2 phones would lose 5 - 10% an hour just sitting in my pocket with the screen off.

this is true, I'm not really a gamer, took a few photos and during the work day I typically only do some light messaging. All I'm saying for my uses it's plenty sufficient. Maybe this weekend I'll do a grinding test and see how that plays out.

I can't use my phone at work so for the past few days I have put it on airplane mode. Today for the first 3 hours I was at 80%! I have no clue how your One is not using much battery on standby.

Mine's been off the charger since 7 EST this morning with no airplane mode or power saver and I've surfed the web and played a game on the train, listened to music for an hour or so at work, been on tap-a-talk some and made a couple of phone calls and I'm just now at 78%. Maybe you got a lemon. Are you on ATT or Sprint, I'm not sure if that would make any difference. Mine is the Sprint version.

I'm playing around with DS battery saver pro. Seems cool and very similar to juice defender which I have used in the past. I'm also playing around with better battery stats and battery stats pro. I'm mostly curious about what uses the battery most but honestly the battery life is pretty good and I'll probably kill all these tools eventually.

I'm on AT&T, but that shouldn't make a difference. Oh man what I wouldn't give to get that kind of battery life. I constantly have power save on and I never play music any more in fear of draining the battery. I just went to lunch and responded to a few emails and I have 65% left and that's with it on standby for about 4 hours so far. I'm thinking something is up with my phone.

I think I am going to head on down to my local AT&T warranty location and have them run some diagnostics on the phone.

20% in 3 hours implies battery life of 15 hours.

That certainly isn't good if it was in airplane mode with screen off.

But isn't bad if you used it for an hour with the screen on.

That's 3 hours of pure airplane mode with screen off and phone in the locker. I used it for 15 minutes at lunch to check an email or two and it went down to 68%. When people are saying they are streaming music for 3 hours and still have 90% I either am blown away or in disbelief.

Well, that isn't good. Can't imagine what could be using the power, download gsam and watch what is causing it or take it back.

You must either have a serious wakelock or a battery defect, return this phone ASAP. Did you do a battery test on it yet, btw?

After looking over this thread, I'm honestly concerned with my phone's battery life. Everyone seems to be getting such good results. Last night I let my One run on battery overnight, and it went from 100% to 60% even on standby, with power mode on. It literally dropped 10% in an hour without me doing much, and then proceeded to drop until 9am (I took the phone off the charger ~12:30am) when I woke up where it was a little over 60%. It drops a couple percent like every 10 minutes, and I've already messed with the settings so that there's minimal background apps running/syncing, running on wi-fi when I can, etc.

Also, I tried putting it in airplane mode just to see if there was battery drain, and it still dropped like 2-3% within 2 hours...that's not normal right? Cuz I've definitely had phones where they barely drained a percent or two in like 8 hours...

Should I get this checked out?

2-3% in 2 hours is not bad. 40% overnight with no interaction by you... that's unacceptable. You have one or more processes/apps in the background that are constantly connecting to data, keeping the phone awake, working on something, etc. Download Wakelock Detector to see what's keeping the phone awake. Whatever the app is, disable or uninstall it. See how your phone runs after that and determine which is more important: that app or battery life.

thanks! I'm going to give that a try tonight and see what happens!

Lol. Ya that work sucks. Good to know it doesn't drain while asleep. I'm getting this phone for my wife soon.

I would do a factory reset first then install apps slowly to see if it drains the same.

I don't know that much of the technical talk on battery talk, but just today when I was talked into keeping the One and not returning for S4, I noticed battery problems

First I got up in afternoon, started at 1:30 and about 9:30 it was at 30%. I looked at the usage and it had sceen as second most used so halfway thru the day I went from 1 min timeout to 30 seconds. The most use was Nova. Weird because unread this would not only speed things up but also save on battery.

The biggest concern is when I am plugged in and useng the phone it goes charges NIL, NADA, NONE, ZILCH. All previous phones would at least charge slowly. And then when I put It down it goes up a few percentage points in 45 min and a full charge after a full 8-9 hours sleep

It would be a bigger concern if that battery speed charger I heard the chip had was in effect, but even if its not (correct me on the terminology and correctness) it concerns me a great deal

Help. Pleas. I don't know if there are things I can do, or if it's defective and have to exchange (will be hard with Tmo because the HTC Rep today told me very few Tmo stores will have them for awhile) or if this is the way it will be and I will be better off getting the S4 and I can get my usual spare batteries from Amazon or eBay

Thanks In Advance

I have got the phone one week back and have done couple of recycle charge with battery.. Last night I allowed it to die before plugging in the power and left it off... I have switched on the mobile come of minutes back and this is the start..... Lets see how I go during the day with routine use..plus some music on the train while going to office and no gaming uploadfromtaptalk1367480944104.jpguploadfromtaptalk1367480944104.jpguploadfromtaptalk1367480959336.jpg

In curious what you end up discovering. I agree that the culprit is probably an app that won't let your phone sleep.
