HTC One Battery Life/Stats Discussion

I disabled a few apps that I don't use (Facebook, all of the AT&T except for Messages, etc) and also removed the updates for Google maps.

I left GLS on, but GPS off .. and my battery when not in use is last ALOT longer and Maps is keeping my phone wakelocked.

I'll post stats tonight

* Sidenote .. thank you Amazon for putting the HTC One on sale AFTER I buy mine *

No idea what is causing that. I don't really have a whole lot. According to GSam it is Maps, but I haven't even opened Maps since I received the phone.

EDIT: Just double checked, no idea. One of the headaches I had with my old Android.

I had Maps keeping my phone awake, too. I uninstalled all updates for it, restarted the phone and battery life has been great ever since then. Maps did update afterwards but it hasn't been an issue since.

I would have thought that they made battery usage by map extremely efficient

I hibernated maps, but I still get wakes from it even though I haven't used it. What is starting to bug me, is that google search is causing a bunch of wakelocks for some reason. I only have GPS satellites clicked so I can use Waze.

I just got my ONE few days ago. So far mixed bag in terms of battery life. I took off the phone this morning after charging all night, i installed 3 apps and phone was on stand by for 3 hours, dropped 10% to 90.
Iam on 3G max signal.

Those who have great battery life have you got any accounts in sync or you disabled all of them?

That seems normal. You have to remember that this phone has a big screen and is doing a lot. If you want to save more battery toggle things off like bluetooth, gps, wifi and data when you are not using them.

I just saw ppls screenshots with almost everything on getting 14h to 1 day out of this phone. With the way iam going its not going to last anywhere near that. I have only Google acounts sync, gps, bluetooth off, wifi on only at home, data always on.

3hrs @ 10% would mean you would get the same or more.

But FYI data drains much more than wifi.

I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on with my battery. I had pretty much full charge last night and left it with wi-fi on accidentally (I assume but it shouldn't have such a dramatic effect). The phone proceeded to drain its battery like I've never seen it do before (see image). A couple of weird things ? the wifi engaged at around 6.45 and then again for short burst a little later. Am wondering why. Also system 'awakened' a few times but I assume that was to tell me that the battery was running low?

Is my battery screwing up? Or is there something else going on here? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Yes. A lot more

I understand but considering I had use phone for less than 5 mins in those 3 hours its still a bit steep.
True but there could be a lot of factors. Weak etc. If I know I am not going to use my phone for that long I toggle off everything. I can still get calls and texts but the battery barely drains at all.

What do you guys make of these? I feel like I had a pretty good day with the One. I am still looking for help on why Google Search wakes the phone so much though.

18 and a half hours use yesterday network and WiFi. Fairly consistent use of phone and camera . Still had 22% left when I finally plugged it in!

Previously posted on this discussion before and my battery was horrible before (1/2 day on moderate to heavy use). 2 weeks after using the phone and draining it completely everyday. The phone lasts me about 2 days now on moderate use! :)

On 3G.
Battery saving app: 2x battery saver
Blinkfeed, calls/SMS, Facebook, meddling with the phone.
Brightness below 20-30%
Maps and location disabled.

All in all, not really impressive since I have manually disabled a number of apps too (stocks, radio, etc.)

That's really good battery life... Dam...

My biggest problem is system and kernel usage, it's always sitting at ~20% and I don't know how to fix it. My s4 is around 3%
