I Am Amazed By This Thing

My only qualm is that I'm concerned that the glass on the center left of my screen being raised could get worse.

Aside from that, which probably isn't really even a huge issue (I usually don't even notice it), I am definitely loving my Nexus 7.

Getting updates straight from Google, Tegra 3, decent screen, and Jellybean make this tablet worth every single penny you pay for it (which makes it especially worth it for me, since I received it as a college graduation present).

I'm also pleasantly surprised by its light weight, and the fact that I think I'm okay with the 7" size. This is my first tablet, and I always thought I wanted a bigger 10" tablet, but it was very difficult to consider passing this one up (especially with its straight-from-Google updates and stock Android). Luckily, it turns out that the size works really well, and I'm quite pleased, indeed.

I was pretty impressed when I set the tablet up at home, I had to put in the Wifi Settings, then, after it synced with my google settings, I went to work the next day, and my work wifi was in the device already.

Its the little things that get me.

Yes, this is an amazing tablet, but I am under whelmed, or I should say I may have set the bar too high. It is amazing and I am stoked to have one, but so is it's big brother and fore father the TF101. I think the people who are most amazed by this have not used an Asus Android tablet in the past. If you had you would just accept this as being of the same stellar quality.

loving mine also, still finding new, and awesome things it can do. cannot wait for ICS on my rezound, but JB on this thing is amazing.

Picked one up today at Staples of all places...got the last one they had! Amazing how fast these things are going. Love it so far, can't wait to try a movie and some other stuff. Showed my boss, a die-hard Apple fanatic, and he really likes it, and immediately took it from me to show folks in the office how nice it is. :p

Now, to root and ROM this sucka!! Gonna be an awesome weekend!

I love my Nexus 7. 3 weeks ago I was using an iPhone 4S and new iPad... today I'm happily rocking my HTC One X and Nexus 7. Love all (ok, most) technology and Android has come so far, I love it and love using it. :)

Me too!! A few weeks ago I was all apple (iphone 4, iPad, apple tv) and I believe I stepped into Android at the right time. Now I have a Galaxy S3, Nexus Q and waiting on my Nexus 7. I am loving the switch as well. I can't seem to put my phone down and I am sure it will be the same with the 7.

Just got my nexus 7 this morning and its left me amazed, I know they messed the launch up and there may be a few faulty ones but is there anything this device cannot do? Games are amazing, screen quality is insanely good, Google now and directions work great, and jelly bean runs like a boss? You couldn't ask for much more from a ?160 device

Used to be blackberry but the nexus 7 pisses all over apple and rim and sends them crying home to mommy which is why I've ordered the galaxy s3 to complete my new collection

Hope everyone iS having as much fun on this as I am

Be real. The iPad 3 walks all over the Nexus 7 in capability. You get what you pay for. The N 7 is good for the price but it's no iPad. What is it with Android users obsessed with Apple?

Re: Can you stream video from a Box account?

Can anyone tell me if you can finally stream video from box.com, like you can on the iPad3? ...I keep telling my boss to hold off on buying a batch of Apples because I think Jellybean outperforms..

Heh. Thats hilarious.

And what is your obsession with griping at everyone for griping about Apple? We get it, you are absolutely in love with everything Apple. Damn near every one of your posts is you attacking someone in defense of them. Why don't you contribute to this community every so often instead of just b***ching?! This is an Android forum, people are going to gripe about Apple. If you want to hear about how awesome they are, go to an iOS forum.

And don't act like Apple users don't talk crap about Android, either. I've seen it on other forums, and my husband's entire side of the family has iPhones and are constantly ragging on me for having an Android. I'm so sick to death of people being defined by what kind of phone they have. It's effing ridiculous! I'm sure this post will probably get modded, but that's fine. I just couldn't hold my tongue (fingers?) anymore.

You guys crying about not having enough storage haven't thought it through.

A short male micro USB to female USB cable is less than $5 on amazon and a fast 32 gig USB stick is $25. Root, install Stickmount, get some sticky back velcro tabs, a decent cover, use the velco to attach the USB stick inside the cover, hook up the cable and you've got the best 40 GB tablet on the market for roughly $250 for all of it.

This. And you don't even have to buy a cable if you think it's too big. They sell half inch port adapters. Barely noticeable.

It pretty much ties the IPad 3 in graphics, scoring a 57.8 as opposed to the iPad 3's 60 in GLbenchmark 2.1 pro (the standard benchmark for graphics power) beats it in BrowserMark and blows away all competition in Sunspider, scoring the best of any consumer tablet in the world. So no, if anything the Nexus 7 walks all over the iPad 3 in capability. When you buy an iPad you don't get what you pay for. You donate a massive profit margin to Apple. The Nexus 7 is actually 200 dollars worth of hardware, Google is making no profit on the device itself. But feel free to keep drinking the koolaid and buying overpriced Apple products, that leaves more Nexus 7's for us.

You be real, Yeah its no iPad but then again its not trying to be, its a personal preference where they both offer different experiences and after owning the two I like the nexus 7 better

Sorry if that offends you and the rest of the apple sheep

I love mine! I don't think I'm using it to its full capacity yet, though. If I'm to understand correctly, I can tether it to my phone and use it in my car for turn-by-turn gps directions? My iPhone is JB so I should be able to get a tethering app without too much trouble from Cydia. Also, I'm somewhat creeped out by the fact that it connected to the wifi where I work without me having to put in my user id and password. I recently had been using a Galaxy S3. Would that information be passed on through my Google account to the new device? I had to sign into my home wifi when I set it up, so I'm not sure how it magically signed into my work wifi. Today I powered up my Kindle Fire for old time's sake and was appalled at how slow it seems now in comparison to the N7! I was going to open the Facebook app on my KF and it was so slow I said screw it and turned the darned thing off and stuck it back in the box! Its currently on Ebay. There is no way I'm could go back to using it after having the N7!

My iPad is getting handed down to my girlfriend. I instantly realized the the Nexus is the right size device for me. I'm sure with time and a few software updates the Nexus will get even better.

actually, we're getting more then we pay for. we're getting the hardware at ~cost or below, plus the latest and greatest android updates.

send in the (an)DROIDs!

I'm also pretty amazed! Finally spent a minute checking out google currents for the first time which led to spending too much time enjoying the video on this tablet! Used the N7 to check out the trending videos on youtube and never realized how incredibly thought provoking watching women's hurdles could be! :p For this only being a 7" tablet video looks pretty good and the performance is great out of the box. I am very happy with this purchase! Hell of an effort by google on their first Nexus tablet! What's next?

I have to agree with the other responses to this - the Nexus 7 matches up well to the New iPad:

1) More powerful CPU and it's not even close

2) GPU is about a wash

3) Screen is close enough to not be a decisive factor - iPad is higher resolution but both are VERY sharp

4) The big winner - Jelly Bean over iOS. iOS is just too restrictive and has too much of a siloed architecture - it makes what should be simple productivity tasks painful. JB like all Android versions allows apps to interoperate both with the OS and with each other. This allows a much more PC like user experience in those areas where it really is the best experience (working with files from a File Manager, interacting with files of different types out of a single interface and so forth).

The only thing iOS had over Android before was the lagginess in older versions. JB has zero lag or choppiness. And while iOS may have more "tablet" apps in sheer numbers Android has all the ones that are important already.
