I got my Xoom upgraded to 4G, who else got there's?

I would lovevto see specific quotes where anyone has said Motorola is targeting them.

What has been said is how poorly Motorola has handled this upgrade.

You sure bout that? Ok.... But you won't like it :p

I would have been happy if they had shipped it back to me as soon as my devices upgrade was completed.

Clearly that didn't happen. Instead, Motorola is choosing to play games with me by not sending me my device back until they have reached the limit they set originally.

This guy thinks Motorola is choosing to play games with HIM by not sending HIS device...

Oh wait, you should be familiar with the rest. Take a break from refreshing the RMA page, go have a beer and watch some football or something. Motorola will tire of playing games with YOU and ship it bac eventually.

I too am getting frustrated. As of late Wednesday mine shows shipped, yet it has not shipped. When will I get it back? It is frustrating as I use it everyday for work, and now I wonder how I lived with out it.

Oh, that's awesome. 6 days? Not likely.

As mentioned in the past, I bet they only do so many FedEx pick ups a week... which sucks. Makes sense as strangely my ship back box that "shipped" on Thursday, was really picked up by FedEx last Saturday. I suspect a bunch of us will get them Tues or Wed this week. In a few days it will be all behind us. :) Then we'll all be pining over ICS and when we'll get that, hehe.

Um, I'm willing to bet they only do ONE pickup a week at this point. And that is on Tuesday. So, good luck to anyone who's Xoom isn't ready to ship by Tuesday...you'll be waiting another full week for them to ship it. This is ridiculously stupid. They should have just been honest...."it'll take 6 or more days because we're completely incompetent."

I also have been waiting for my unit which shows that the RMA was completed on the 5th. Now I am wondering if there is actually something wrong with the 4G upgrade and they are failing in testing. I just received the following email from motorola:

Dear George,

We wanted to let you know that we are still in the process of completing your upgrade. We apologize for the delay and will send you an additional notification once the device has shipped early this week.

Sincerely,

Motorola Mobility Customer Services

I got that email about 10 minutes ago. I sent mine in on Monday.

This is disappointing. All I can say is I had better get the free dock they offered. That's honestly the only reason I sent it in. I had decided that I was not going to do the upgrade because I didn't want the negative impact on battery life.

It's probably a safe bet as 6 day turn around time does line up with shipping only once a week. Also makes sense with their "Will ship early next week" email.

Quite frankly, I'm not holding my breath on the dock. That'd be great if we end up getting one, and I know the first people that got theirs back got them. But I'm not expecting anything at this point except that I might get it back sometime before next weekend. And even that apparently isn't guaranteed.

Yup. I wish I had known that up front. I would have gamed the system and not sent it in until this past Friday. Get there Monday, upgrade done on Tuesday, and shipped Tuesday night. Instead I ship it Monday, it gets there Tuesday, upgrade finished on Wednesday, and sits in their warehouse until the following Tuesday night. Brilliant.

6 Days?
. You will be without your device for approximately 5 business days from the time you ship your Motorola XOOM.

That's some creative math you got there. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday....I've been without it for 5 business days already. Assuming it's not shipped until Tuesday, add another Monday and Tuesday to that. By my count we're up to 7 business days, yea?

I'm sorry if I sound frustrated. I'll try to relax. I really am PO'd right now though. I really would have just waited to send it in had I known how they were doing this. Those of us who sent them in last Monday and didn't get them finished until Wednesday are truly screwed. Those who timed it right get them back in potentially 3 or 4 days. I've been a big moto fan but this experience does not leave me with warm fuzzy feelings. Yea, it'll be over "soon" I'm aware. If anyone else hasn't sent theirs in yet, seriously, do it on a Friday.

Speculation on my part:

Moto is holding on to them and will ship them in bulk (for the most part) to maintain parity amongst all XOOM owners. They informed everyone up front that the process would be a 6 business day turnaround. They clearly set the expectation.

Then they started receiving the XOOM's, upgrading them, and shipping them back as quickly as they could. As could be expected, the quick turnaround people posted on various Android / XOOM forums that they had them back. In fact, one poster in this thread reported a total round-trip time of 2 1/2 days.

Now people's expectations have changed: "This guy got his back in 3 days, where is mine?" The next step would have been numerous complaints to Moto, "Where is my XOOM and why is it taking so long?" Moto's answer: "Hold the rest of them (first week upgrades) and ship them all back at the same time."

It makes perfect sense: they meet their initial commitment and everyone (at least most) are treated equally.

I don't believe that the issue is FedEx's reluctance to pick the packages up on multiple trips, or wait for a semi trailer to be filled. How many XOOM's will Moto be upgrading? Tens of thousands? FedEx would pick these up in groups of several hundreds even if it meant one or two trips a day.

I believe that Moto is intentionally delaying the returns, and I think that it is to be a fair as possible to all (as a group).

In the end, all I know is that I want my XOOM back ASAP. So get them shipped tomorrow Moto.

There is no justifiable reason in my opinion for delaying the return of our property once the upgrade has been completed.

Motorola should be ashamed of themselves for treating their customers this way. They have lost me as a customer. I'm someone who has purchased Motorola mobile devices all the way back to the Star Tac phone.

They screwed up on the early release of the Xoom. They screwed up with the repeated delays in upgrading our devices. They lied about upgrading the Xoom in the summer of 2011, and now this.

Motorola is one $@@#@ up company. Maybe the consumer will get treated better when Google takes over their mobile division.

this upgrade must be costing moto some serious money... it wold have made better financial sense to release the xoom when it was ready... bet this is th elast time any company does this.

you all ashould calm down, I was suppose to get my box on sep29, but I got it on Oct3 instead, then I sent it on on the 4th, they did not recognize receiving it untill the 6th, my status still only shows they reeived it, nothing more.

I just received my email with my shipping information. It came through a little after 1am, California time.

Motorola tracker is now showing that my Xoom shipped on 10/5/2011 via FedEx. Still no tracking number. If it did ship on the 5th they are using the cheapest method for shipping known to man.

That doesn't annoy and concern you at all? That is not how a well managed upgrade process is handled.

As for how much this upgrade is costing moto... I honestly don't care. Some of us paid 800 bucks for them and the upgrade was promised and delayed. We should be treated as premium customers who are in fact early adopters. If we want to be treated as second rate customers we should have just bought an iP@d. Hahaha. :)

I just got an email from Moto saying shipping it back has been delayed a few days. The RMA tracker says the RMA as completed on 10/6 so I wonder why the delay??
Anyone else get one of these emails? :(
