Inaccurate Step Count

I've just recently noticed that I lose about 10% to 20% of my step count when walking my dog and holding the leash with my Pixel watch arm.

It would appear that you need to swing your arms to get a more accurate step count. I'm guessing that's why Sam (Molly Shannon) in the Summer of George Seinfeld episode doesn't wear one. 😉

It's the same on my Samsung watch. I need to have my arm swinging & it doesn't count steps until I have taken at least 10 continuous steps.

This makes me think of the Geico commercial showing the woman sitting on a park bench, playing fetch with her dog & she's attached her fitness tracker to the dogs tail. 😀

That's why if you are serious about step counting, you need to have a true foot/ankle pedometer. Trusting a watch or phone to that, tracking something other than actual steps, is always going to be inaccurate for the average person.
Really?! 🤔 I didn't know there was such a thing as an ankle pedometer.

Thanks! 😄

I always learn the most interesting things here at ACF.

Or just wear your Pixel Watch on your ankle as discussed in the Pixel Help Community HERE. ;) Live and learn. 🤷‍♂️ 😂
Since I'm just cleaning house today & no one will see it, I just strapped my Samsung watch to my ankle. It'll be interesting to see if my husband notices.

(Obviously, I'm not a serious step counter.)

Edit: Bonus points for the extra exercise of having to bend over to read watch notifications. 😀

so learning to walk on your hands isn't an option??
🤣🤣 Not for me!

Okay, so I tried this and got some really good step counts. The problem is that I am not that coordinated (2 left feet hands), I kept losing my balance and Fall Detection kept notifying emergency services. I was told that if an ambulance is called out again my watch will be confiscated. 😟
