Installing Flash 10.1 on the Optimus S?

I just got an Optimus S a few days ago and I have to say it's a little disappointing to get a new phone that's only been available for about a month that can't support the flash update from almost 6 months ago. Maybe it's Adobe's fault and not LG's but it's just disappointing to get what is supposed to be the best non-4G Android phone Sprint currently offers and have immediate limitations.

You can still watch porn with skyfire.

Adobe Flash 10.1 won't install

I can't get Adobe Flash to install, I want to view flash in my browser. I even tried installing from the SD card, but no luck. Is Adobe flash compatible with LG Optimus S?

I read somewhere that it is not compatible with the LG Optimus S because flashrequires an ARMV7 processor and the Optimus is an ARMV6, something like that, is this true?

Thats what I read too. Somehow I think someone could compile a Flash version that worked with our processor. People say use Skyfire, my issue is that it doesn't run all the flash elements on the page just like asks to open flash videos in a window which is meh.

That someone would probably have to be Adobe, given the closed-source nature of Flash, and they have not done that to date.

I'm still looking into this. Don't give up hope, I haven't :)

I don't even want flash but I don't like LG/adobe telling me I can't have it

Same, if I wasn't really rusty on programming I'd give it a shot :P I've run flash on things less powerful than this phone before with no issues, so I don't see a technical reason it won't work :P

And I assume the "on demand" plugin load that I see in the browser options will minimize the impact of it anyways.

So i was over at XDA and they claim to have Flash 10.1 working on an Eris which is also an arm 11 MSM 7600 based chip. Is this full flash not lite? And if so how do we get it ported to non HTC 2.2.Flash 10.1 on hero, port? [UPDATED WITH DOWNLOAD] - xda-developers

They have a version that kind of/sort of/ for some people/sometimes/but 99% of people say it's BS and don't work, for the eris. The eris is an android 2.1 device. They are using this to fool the HTC lite plug-in that comes with HTC devices to be full flash but again, read my description above about peoples opinion of it. Our optimus is a 2.2 device which changed the way the browser works and handles plug-ins so, long story short, no this wont work, at all.

The change required for this to work is much more complex than a simple flash.apk edit. I feel like i have the limitation chased down but probably many more hours of work until I have any more information.

As i said before, i don't like someone telling me i can't have this BUT if it becomes too much of a PITA someone else will maybe need to pick up the project as ThundeROM comes first ;)

Ok so maybe?...

Our Android OS is built with Ubuntu right? Why can't we get a Ubuntu .deb build which isn't processor specific and port that to mobile? Apparently you can run debian apps on the G1..How to Run Deb Files on Android

I keep seeing Hulu on Android and it makes me wonder...what if?

Linux based, not Ubuntu based. It'd still require heavy modifying as well to run on a new processor, whereas the android flash Is set for a similar chip already, and works with the OS.

Ubuntu in question

it says ubuntu under "Build Infos" in android system information, a marketplace app.

It must issue the getprop command locally. You get the same when you issue the command from an adb shell and it lists it under host build. Maybe that means they built the ROM on Ubuntu. I am sure you will be corrected in some way a few times though.

Oh and it is closer to Ubuntu than it is Dalvik.
a. Dalvik is a virtual machine that helps to run the java code when it is converted to dex (hence deodexed roms)
b. Android is an OS based on the linux kernel. Ubuntu is an OS based on the...linux kernel.
c. With Android running debian files, and Ubuntu being debian based linux...don't see why it's so far fetched to think it could be related.

We're learning.

Adobe Flash on Optimus S

1st off - Happy New Years Eve, that is...depending on where your at and what timezone. (Here in SoCal,its still 6:00)

Anyhoo - Im not new to the Rooting/modding scene. Ive had a hell of a time with my MT3G. As willing as was to flash and REFLASH new roms with it, I don't necessarily want to with this phone.

Out the box, this was the best 2.2 based phone that I saw. IMO - it outperformed T-Mo's MT3G and my sister's Droid after the 2.2 updates - so in all honesty, I am in no rush to root/NANDROID/Flash/rinse/Repeat on this phone...

However, I am willing to try if any of the custom ROMS support Flash. My research has shown that supposedly none of the Optimus S/M/or T supports flash, but the Optimus One P500 does... Reading the datasheets, the processors are both similarly spec, but slightly different. (im no pro, but im attributing it to the fact that one is GSM and this is CDMA)

So finally - here are my questions:
Do any custom ROMS utilize flash?
and
Does flashing my phone to the stock P500 image ([HOWTO] Flash original firmware on P500 - xda-developers) get me my flash goodness????

As far as I know, no ROMs currently support Flash, though a few ROM cookers seem to be working on it.

As for flashing a ROM for another phone, I'd suggest against it; it may brick your phone.

really

Yeah with a title like that you may anger some folks looking for a resolution. Also we already have a thread talking about Flash on the Optimus S.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s/43187-installing-flash-10-1-optimus-s.html
Now to address your post. Nowhere in that post does it confirm Flash on the Optimus One. They claim to have it because in some locations it was on the box, but later it was realized that this was incorrect. The P500 also had an ARM V6 like us, and it does not support flash yet.

edit: Just so i wouldn't be lying i decided to test it based on a build i found. The results:

So it did install via ADB and didnt give me the mismatch error. Which looks promising. The internet then stopped working on 3g or wifi so i rebooted. The internet then worked and upon opening the browser pages would load.....

The problem: When any page with flash starts to load, the browser shuts down. Sites for identifying the flash version report it as nonexistent. I am attaching a log to this one so you can see the browser loads the flash files but then shuts down. Maybe someone more technical can see what the deal is here. Oh yeah i didnt install any of the other files in the archive as they said htc and something else. So if someone could tell me what they are..or if necessary....
This is the rar that contains the apk....Adobe_Flash_For_LG_OptimusOne_P500.zip
