I have 4 UDP lines with 3 of them having upgrades available. We wanted two Note 4's - so I ended up ordering two of them from Amazon since Best Buy doesn't have them yet

The phones won't get here for a couple of days yet. It sounded like this would work from some posts on another forum, but now I am starting to have some doubts...

Will this work from Amazon? I plan on using existing sim cards from different lines to activate the new phones
Line 1 UDP upgrade used with existing Line 2 sim card
Line 2 UDP upgrade used with existing Line 1 Sim card

I am starting to get nervous - I guess I can always refuse the delivery... help

My employer provides me a smart phone thru Verizon/3 gig plan. My personal phone is thru Verizon/UDP. Any suggestions on how to forward call and texts to one device. I really don't need two smart phones. Just trying to simplify life. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't worry; upgrading through Amazon works fine. My colleague did it. The most important thing is to not boot the phones with the included SIM cards. Take them out and destroy them right away. Swapping phones isn't necessary, but it might give you an extra layer of protection. IIRC someone reported upgrading directly from Verizon using this method, and successfully kept unlimited data.

Just go to through Best buy and order the upgrade Iphone 6 on the Dump phone line (and select keep your existing plan) and once it arrives remove the SIM card that it came with and insert her SIM card. I just did this exact thing this Friday, my dump phone shows the extended contract and no data plan or pending activation. The UDP line shows the Iphone 6 and the UDP is still in tact. I have checked this every day a couple of times just to make sure because am paranoid.

I have also checked for any pending activation by going through the update device and transferring upgrade from another device into the Dump phone line. I was able to transfer an upgrade from another device into the Dump phone line and I didn't see any pending activation. Is there another way to check for pending activation? Or am I ok.

Thanks for your thoughts, but my goal is to have two Iphone 6s. Mine would be an upgrade and pay for the minimal data, and my wife's would be the UDP with a new phone, as the second (transferred) upgrade onto my line. See # 7838. My dumb flip phone has about had it. Also my guess is the SIM is her IPhone 4 might not do much good in the new IPhone 6.
I appreciate any thoughts.
If anyone else has any thoughts on my original plan, I'd appreciate it.

I have and UDP and don't want to lose it....So even though I had to choose the 2 GB, I use the sim in my old phone (Droid Maxx) and put it in the new phone and then turn it on. Nothing should change for me, correct?

Upgrade using Best Buy or Costco, ship to home, and then when you get them throw away the included SIM cards and insert your current active SIM cards. BOOM, you're up and running, with subsidized phones, and unlimited data!

I used the Best Buy method... should I just keep checking my
VZW account on a daily basis to make sure it still says unlimited?
(up to the last day of the Best Buy 14-day return period?)

The iPhone 4 sim will not work. You could just upgrade your line. When you get the Phone go online to your account and swap your phone to her line. Then just transfer the unlimited upgrade to your line and get the second phone.

Otherwise you need to get a 4g lte sim active on her line before you can do the best buy method.

Just activated my phone s5 from rmhd checked account no pending act. I did the bb method from a basic line upgrade had phone delivered today. took out my rmhd sim card, popped out the preloaded sim in the new s5, gave a little prayer and turned it on. Its been a couple of hours, periodically been checking bigred account and no pending activation. My UDP still intact.mind u that my billing was payed off today and new cycle begins 12/12. so ill be waiting for the new cycle to begin and monitor the beginning of that. Lol I am missing my rmhd as it was a tank phone dropping no problem water no problem. This s5 is something getting used to. Oh well I have another upgrade in April on my UDP. So its great timing that I got this for $1

Like others have a question on how to retain my UDP with the following scenario:

Old 700 minute family share plan with 4 lines:
Main Line - Basic Phone (Non Upgrade Eligible)
2nd Line - Basic Phone (Upgrade Eligible)
3rd Line - Moto X UDP (Upgrade Eligible)
4th Line - Iphone 5 Tiered 6GB (Non Upgrade Eligible)

So I would like to transfer the upgrade on the Moto X line to the 1st phone line (Basic Phone) in order to get an Iphone, we are ok with the line adding the tiered data line. I can't transfer the upgrade from the 2nd line as we plan to use the upgrade on that line as well to upgrade to an iphone with tiered data.

Is it possible to just transfer the UDP upgrade to the dumb phone and use the upgrade without losing UDP assuming we are ok with adding the data plan for the two years?

Use the Verizon Messages app for text and forward the calls on your work phone to your personal number.

That should not be a problem. I would just do it online. You will retain unlimited on the line. I have used the transfer upgrade many times to retain unlimited and get a new phone.

I transferred the upgrade through Verizon from an unlimited line to dumbphone line. I just sold the phone and never activated it. It was when I was worried about throttling and wanted to get back under contract.
