I have half them last 2-3 months.Since I did the Best Buy method recently. How long does a pending activation on a Basic line last?
For the most part, that should work though sometimes people get stuck because the Bionic is classified as a 3G phone in Verizon's system even though it is a 4G. If you are worried about that, or didn't want to deal with cutting SIM cards, there is another method:
1) Through Verizon online, order the iPhone 6 using Bionic A's upgrade on Line 1, picking the 2GB data plan for and have it shipped to home not shipped to store;
2) After the first order is submitted, through Verizon online, order the LG G3 using Bionic B's upgrade on Line 2, picking the 2GB data plan for UDP Line 2 and have it shipped to home not shipped to store;
3) When the new smartphones arrive, do not turn them on, rather log onto Verizon online and click activate or switch a device;
4) Select Line 2 - it should ask you if you want to activate or verify the new device that was just shipped to you - you click "No, I want to activate a different device" or "Not activating my new device at this time, take me to the Activate or Switch Device page";*
5) Select that you want to activate a device that has not been on your account before, type in the IMEI of the iPhone 6 (using Line 1's upgrade in Step 1) and the SIM card number of the SIM card that shipped with the phone and follow the directions to activate Line 2's new phone on Line 2;
6) Then click activate or switch a device, select Line 1 - it should ask you if you want to activate or verify the new device that was just shipped to you - you click "No, I want to activate a different device" or "Not activating my new device at this time, take me to the Activate or Switch Device page";
7) Select that you want to activate a device that has not been on your account before, type in the IMEI of the LG G3 ordered for Line 1 (using Line 2's upgrade in Step 2) and the SIM card number of the SIM card that shipped with the phone and follow the directions to activate Line 1's new phone on Line 1.
The key thing is to order the phone on the opposite line's upgrade.
I just saw that the Note 3 for Verizon is being offered for 20 freaking dollars through Amazon. I gather it'd work like ordering from Best Buy, IE when the phone comes, swap in my current phone, in this case Note 2's SIM and then power up the Note 3?
Update to post #8208: Wife (Bionic 2) picked up a used Iphone5 and we cut the sim and dropped it in and she's been happy for two months while I waited for the S6. I'm ready for the S6.
Can I just order the S6 on her upgrade now, toss the sim before powering it up, cut my Bionic 1 sim and slide it in to the S6 and voila?
And just making sure: the upgrade on her line should not affect UDP as long as I never activate that S6 with original sim on that account. And... the upgrade will eventually fall off and we are good.
Soooo.... that said, I could be doing the same as you quoted above with all 3 UDP lines every two years, except I would upgrade line 1 with 2 and line 2 with 3 and line 3 with 1's upgrades, Etc...
For the most part it's the second option:
1) power off both phones
2) reactivate the old phone on the tiered line via Verizon online
3) activate the new phone on the unlimited line with
As far as SIM cards are concerned, it depends on the original phones on both lines along with what type is used in the new one. If they are the same size, then you just swap. If they are different, then you reprogram using Verizon's online system.

So for ex...
Line 1: iphone 4 UDP upgrade (no-sim)
Line 2: Iphone 5c TDP no upgrade (nano-sim)
I ordered a LG G3 with a micro-sim through line 2 by transferring upgrade and 5c has nano-sim. How would I go about "reprogramming" and putting the G3 on line 1?
Thanks in advance for your advice! Here's my current setup:
Line 1: UDP GS4 (upgrade available) Out of contract as of tomorrow
Line 2: UDP GS4 (upgrade available) Out of contract as of tomorrow
Line 3: Basic phone, no data (upgrade available) Currently out of contract
Currently have family share plan 1400 min, with a few added features...
I would like to upgrade both lines 1 and 2 to iphone 6's, and retain UDP on both lines...
If doing both is not feasible or risky, upgrading one of those lines vs both is fine for now (as one phone is in worse shape).
Can someone please assist with the process here? I believe I'll be dealing with a sim card incompatibility issue (correct?) so I'd greatly appreciate guidance on that process as well.
Also, if it is possible to take advantage of any of the promotions that are available from time to time in the phone purchasing process, please let me know - I have heard that with UDP generally these are not available but perhaps that is incorrect. For example, my basic phone line has the $200 off iphone with upgrade and waived activation but I don't know if that can be used in these situations...
Thanks again - greatly appreciate the guidance!
Called Verizon Loyalty Department and apparently anyone(in good standing) with Unlimited Data can get the $15 30 Min Loyalty plan, to make your plan $45 with Unltd Data and 30 min(no texts), and just use Google Voice/Hangouts with Unlmtd Call/text in US with Data.. It does put you in contract for 1 year with out of contract customers or if your currently in contract just resets your 2 year contract no later than 1 year in. Its going to save me $70+ a month! Just a quick FYI for all you UDP users!
You have lots of options as it's just a matter of what you are comfortable in doing. Two questions for you:
1.) Do you want to cut your SIM or use new ones of the appropriate size?
2.) Do you want to use your basic phone's upgrade?
As for promotions, I typically tell people to not focus on them. If you get it great, if not, don't sweat it.
Hi...my Droid Razr Maxx finally gave up the ghost today and now I need to get a new phone. I was looking to go with an S6 or an S6 edge. I want to keep my Unlimited Data. I only have 1 line. I really don't want to lose my Unlimited plan when I get a new phone. Do I have to pay full retail and then swap in the sim from the Razr? Please help...thanks.
1.) Do you want to cut your SIM or use new ones of the appropriate size? I would rather not cut them if there is another way that is feasible and relatively low risk.
2.) Do you want to use your basic phone's upgrade? I don't see a reason not to. I suppose you ask due to getting locked into a contract on that line? This I don't care too much about. The line is there and I'm fine to use the upgrade as I just buy the basic phones off ebay for the person that uses this line.
Thanks again!
This is probably the best method for you:
1) Through Verizon online, order the iPhone Line 2 wants using Line 1's upgrade, picking the 2GB data plan for Line 1 and have it shipped to home;
2) After the first order is submitted, through Verizon online, order the iPhone Line 1 wants using Line 2's upgrade, picking the 2GB data plan for UDP Line 2 and have it shipped to home;
3) When the new smartphones arrive, do not turn them on, rather log onto Verizon online and click activate or switch a device;
4) Select Line 2 - it should ask you if you want to activate or verify the new device that was just shipped to you - you click "No, I want to activate a different device" or "Not activating my new device at this time, take me to the Activate or Switch Device page";
5) Select that you want to activate a device that has not been on your account before, type in the IMEI of the phone ordered for Line 2 (using Line 1's upgrade in Step 1) and the SIM card number of the SIM card that shipped with the phone and follow the directions to activate Line 2's new phone on Line 2;
6) Then click activate or switch a device, select Line 1 - it should ask you if you want to activate or verify the new device that was just shipped to you - you click "No, I want to activate a different device" or "Not activating my new device at this time, take me to the Activate or Switch Device page";
7) Select that you want to activate a device that has not been on your account before, type in the IMEI of the phone ordered for Line 1 (using Line 2's upgrade in Step 2) and the SIM card number of the SIM card that shipped with the phone and follow the directions to activate Line 1's new phone on Line 1.
Because you want two iPhone 6's, it is absolutely crucial that you keep the phones straight and do not activate them on the lines they were ordered on. I strongly recommend ordering different colors if possible.
Thank you so much. Much more straightforward that I expected. It does have me wondering then, what happens to my service plan during this whole process and thereafter? Does this pending activation stay on the account for a few months or...? Is there anything I should be looking out for during this time? Lastly, and perhaps I will have to wait and see how this goes when I do this tomorrow, but is there anything in steps 1 and 2 (when navigating the process through the Verizon site) I should look out for or be careful of when selecting the 2GB plan etc? Sorry for all the questions...
Thanks again!
Quick Question. Trying to get my brother the Droid Turbo to use on another carrier. If I pick up a cheap flip phone and add a Basic Line for $10/mo does that line automatically Upgrade Ready? If so can I then Upgrade to the Turbo via the BBM and it ships throw another lines sim card in the phone it won't add the Minimum $30 data feature for 2 years will it?
