[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

About to pull the trigger on upgrading via Best Buy - does it matter if I have it shipped vs picking it up?

You have to have it shipped, otherwise will lose unlimited data since BB makes you activate it on the sim in the phone right in store.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hello, I'm in a tie crunch as I'm sure everyone is. But can anyone specify do I just go to BB and choose my unlimited plan phone number and upgrade that to a new phone and go the 2GB warning and buy it for my unlimited line. Then when I get the phone in the mail I just do not activate it and I will get to keep my unlimited data and it will have renewed y line for 2 years? Also I have the NOTe 3 and my SIM Card is built in.. How will I be able to transfer my SIM/Info to new phone from Note 3 if my SIM is built in. Also can I transfer an upgrade via my verizon account from a 2GB plan to an unlimited plan and keep unliited plan? Thanks

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Thanks to this thread I used the Best Buy method successfully, but now a couple dilemmas arise that I'd like some advice with.

Here's my previous situation:
Line 1 TDP Galaxy S4 out of contract
Line 2 UDP Galaxy S4 out of contract
Line 3 feature phone out of contract
Line 4 TDP iPhone5 out of contract
On Oct 30, I ordered a Note 5 from Best Buy for Line 2 with 2-year contract, received it and put my old sim card from S4 in it (i.e. Best Buy method).
On Oct 31, I ordered an S6 Edge with 2-year contract for Line 1 for my mother.

Here are my questions:
1. Yesterday my mother saw that the S6 Edge Plus has gone on sale on Best Buy, and would prefer to have that instead of the Edge if possible. Is it safe to walk into Best Buy and ask to get an exchange for her (Line 1)? In theory this should be simple since she's within the 14 day return window and she's not dealing with UDP, but with the horror stories I read about people walking into BB and losing UDP for all sorts of reasons, I'm afraid if there's a chance that a BB rep might look into mom's Verizon account during the exchange process and somehow screw up my UDP, since we're in the same account/family plan (switch order for my Note 5 should still appear there as well).
My mom never even turned on/activated the new S6 Edge so ideally she'd take out the sim from the Edge, exchange the device for a sim-less Edge+, then simply put in the Edge sim and voila...but I don't know if BB could exchange smartphones that way or if they require her to give the account info for a full return-exchange process.

So, in summary, is it safe to walk into BB to exchange a smartphone that's not a UDP line but is in the same account as a UDP line that just recently used a loophole to upgrade?

2. This question is more or less a bad one, but I'd like to ask just in case. Two days after I did the BB method for Note 5, BB started a promotion that gives a $100 gift card for the 2-year contract of Note 5. Bummer. I guess attempting a return or exchange with the Note 5 on UDP line to get that gift card is a terrible idea? Is there any way to get that $100 or should I give it up?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Can someone provide some help with my situation:

3 UDP - upgrade available on all three, month-to-month
1 Dumbphone - upgrade available Feb. 2016.

Do I have any options here?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

What shipping option are people using? Free shipping is listed as 11/23.... Long time for such a small package and it jumps to $20 for 11/16.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Guys I'm trying to order the LG G4, off Best buy but the upgrade is on my unlimited Data plan and I don't see the transfer option on the site help

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

pheatton, when I ordered on October, the expected delivery for free shipping was about twelve days, but they arrived within four or five days. I assume delivery time would vary each case, but I took a gamble and ended up saving $40 (for two phones) and they both arrived around or earlier than the listed expedited shipping date.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I just purchased another phone as a full retail upgrade on Verizon website after using the BB upgrade trick. I'll let you know how it goes!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

This is what happens when I use the number where the transfer (UDP) is coming from

But when I use the other LINE (dummy line nation wide 2000) this shows:

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I think I know what happened... The G4 just sold out...
No that's not it...
BTW I tried calling Best Buy customer service regarding him walking me through it but because I'm not the primary account holder he couldn't do it, I told him what I wanted which was transfer the upgrade to someone else but I needed to get the account holder on the line but I know that we should avoid all human interaction with BB employees so I just said he left to work and I'd call back... Ideas?

I did the best buy method. Received the new phone. Took the sim out. Went to verizon corporate store to get a new sim and they activated it for me there. Now that line shows 6gb instead of unlimited. What should I do?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Quick question guys.

L1: UDP out of contract mtm upgrade available
L2: TDP in contract no upgrade

I'm not at home with line two (work across the country).

OPTION 1?
If I were to go through Verizon online and transfer L1 upgrade to L2 then upgrade L2 receive phone>>>>>>> AT this point is it a must to remove and kill the sim?

OPTION 2?
If I do best buy method do as above via (Best Buy Online) BUT ABSOLUTELY DO remove SIM PRIOR to PWR UP! and just put my sim in from L1? If so how is it that I would not get charged for the agreement that I made or that it would even renew being I didn't activate?

Sorry, I am reading too many conflicting answer and know ppl that have done this the vzw way in the past but did not destroy the sim......I feel like maybe that changed but I do not know that for sure?

It is my understanding that you can't do the Best Buy method via Verizon.
