Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon
Thanks to this thread I used the Best Buy method successfully, but now a couple dilemmas arise that I'd like some advice with.
Here's my previous situation:
Line 1 TDP Galaxy S4 out of contract
Line 2 UDP Galaxy S4 out of contract
Line 3 feature phone out of contract
Line 4 TDP iPhone5 out of contract
On Oct 30, I ordered a Note 5 from Best Buy for Line 2 with 2-year contract, received it and put my old sim card from S4 in it (i.e. Best Buy method).
On Oct 31, I ordered an S6 Edge with 2-year contract for Line 1 for my mother.
Here are my questions:
1. Yesterday my mother saw that the S6 Edge Plus has gone on sale on Best Buy, and would prefer to have that instead of the Edge if possible. Is it safe to walk into Best Buy and ask to get an exchange for her (Line 1)? In theory this should be simple since she's within the 14 day return window and she's not dealing with UDP, but with the horror stories I read about people walking into BB and losing UDP for all sorts of reasons, I'm afraid if there's a chance that a BB rep might look into mom's Verizon account during the exchange process and somehow screw up my UDP, since we're in the same account/family plan (switch order for my Note 5 should still appear there as well).
My mom never even turned on/activated the new S6 Edge so ideally she'd take out the sim from the Edge, exchange the device for a sim-less Edge+, then simply put in the Edge sim and voila...but I don't know if BB could exchange smartphones that way or if they require her to give the account info for a full return-exchange process.
So, in summary, is it safe to walk into BB to exchange a smartphone that's not a UDP line but is in the same account as a UDP line that just recently used a loophole to upgrade?
2. This question is more or less a bad one, but I'd like to ask just in case. Two days after I did the BB method for Note 5, BB started a promotion that gives a $100 gift card for the 2-year contract of Note 5. Bummer. I guess attempting a return or exchange with the Note 5 on UDP line to get that gift card is a terrible idea? Is there any way to get that $100 or should I give it up?
