[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

What shipping option are people using? Free shipping is listed as 11/23.... Long time for such a small package and it jumps to $20 for 11/16.

This is a long time. I just ordered tonight and did free shipping. Your contract should be extended within 48 hrs so it doesn't really matter when phone arrives unless you plan on reselling and the price drops precipitously for some reason.

I actually used some Bestbuy certs to get the cost for expedited shipping down to $5.

Return the phone.

If I return the phone, will my contract go back to month to month?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

It is my understanding that you can't do the Best Buy method via Verizon.

I guess I do not understand your response. I am aware that one is a Best Buy method and the Other is a Verizon (old standard way?) But the SIM thing is tying me up here plus getting my girlfriend's phone back up and running but worst case she will have to wait for me to ship the SIM snail mail.

Thank you all your help with this forum!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Okay so I've been trying to do the Best Buy Method but after two hours of trying to transfer line 3's upgrade to line 4, it only gave me three options when it came to line 3's upgrade: upgrade my device (No, never upgrade directly from the UDP), add this device to my account (Not possible because all the accounts are on the Nationwide Share 2000 plan) and the last one Buy an unactivated device (No, I have an avaible upgrade). I didn't take the other two accounts into account so I went to Verizon's official website. I found this out from Verizon's website:
Update:
Verizon's official website shows the following:

Line 1 Primary Account Holder (Nationwide Talk & Text Share 2000)/smartphone (Data 5GB): Upgrade available on 08/20/2016 but underneath it shows upgrade available via the Special Offer Early Upgrade.

Line 2 Dummy/Nationwide Talk & Text Share 2000(Data pay per use): Upgrade available on 03/28/2017 but has a eligible for early upgrade.

Line 3/UDP/Nationwide Talk & Share 2000/Smartphone: Upgrade Available since 10/25/2015

Line 4 Dummy Phone/Data Pay Per Use/Nationwide Talk & Share 2000/ Next Available upgrade is 12/07/2015: no upgrade available no special offer for an early upgrade.

1) Are these upgrades affecting my ability to transfer via Best Buy?
2) Is that why I can't transfer line 3s upgrade to the fourth line?
3) Should I tell line 1 and 2 to move upgrade and therefore in one or two days and maybe the system will allow me to upgrade?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Quick question guys.

L1: UDP out of contract mtm upgrade available
L2: TDP in contract no upgrade

I'm not at home with line two (work across the country).

OPTION 1?
If I were to go through Verizon online and transfer L1 upgrade to L2 then upgrade L2 receive >>>>>>> AT this point is it a must to remove and kill the sim?

OPTION 2?
If I do best buy method do as above via (Best Buy Online) BUT ABSOLUTELY DO remove SIM PRIOR to PWR UP! and just put my sim in from L1? If so how is it that I would not get charged for the agreement that I made or that it would even renew being I didn't activate?

Sorry, I am reading too many conflicting answer and know ppl that have done this the vzw way in the past but did not destroy the sim......I feel like maybe that changed but I do not know that for sure?

Best Buy is the best method to use because Best Buy cannot automatically activate your new phone versus Verizon they can.
Yes, you are correct to insert your original SIM card into the new phone that you ordered. Best Buy does get their money (they get theirs immediately remember you have a receipt saying paid) they're selling you the equipment not the service that's Verizon. You don't need to have neither your girlfriend's phone nor SIM to make this work.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Ok so as far as Best Buy is concerned:

1:Go online (BB)

2:Transfer UDP Upgrade to TDP phone

3:Pick minimum plan (now for TDP)

4:Order phone of choise

5:Ship to home

6: Receive, DO NOT POWER ON, REMOVE SIM and DISCARD

7:Put my UDP SIM in new phone WOHHH 2yrs and not $20 increase?

Thank you for the help I appreciate it. Wish I knew more and could assist you on your issue!
If anything I have typed is incorrect please let me know.

Thanks again

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Thank you sooooooo MUCH. I'm sorry once again to bug you all on short notice and that I am of little help but I do hope that the way I laid it out will help others. I will post confirmation if all goes well over the next few days.

I guess one last question though. Do I Absolutely need to use the new phone? I would assume not because people discuss selling them but you know what they say about assumptions.

I would like to stay on my rooted note 3 for work.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have to unlimited data lines not under contract but eligible for upgrade. Can I just upgrade through best buy online, ship to home and plug in my sim cards and should be good to go?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

you only have unlimited data plans no dummy/non smart phone lines? it is not safe to upgrade directly from the UDP itself it is better to transfer the upgrade to either a dummy line or a Tier Data Plan...

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Well I went and did it tonight. For some reason when I was trying to order on my phone online with BB, it kept telling me my card wouldn't work. So I went into the store and they did the purchase and it worked. It is being shipped to my home, I paid for the extra shipping that way I would be activating the phone before the cut off date. Also I got my free 24" 720p TV, prefect size for a computer monitor. So I'll keep you posted come Friday night what happens.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Can I use this method on two UDP, both eligible for upgrade and out of contract? The reason I ask is, most of the answers given involves transferring with TDP or dummie line. Please assist. Thank you.

No do not proceed!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I guess my wife and I will have to sit on it and take on the $40 increase monthly for both our line. That should put our bill at a little over $200. It's going to sting when it comes to upgrading our phone a few months from now. When that happen, it should push the bill close to $300 with the added payment plan and fees. Thank you for the quick response.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Well I just got email over night saying that the LG G4 is back ordered and might not see it till Dec 3rd. I don't know how this affects my keeping my 2 yr contract. Kinda pissed, plus I paid extra for two day shipping. Not sure how I'll get that money back.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Would it be safe to order upgrade on UDP line and not activate phone at all?
I ordered a Note4 in February and the contract didn't transfer from basic line to UDP. (I transfered upgrade from Basic to UDP line at the time)
So the Basic line has contract but UDP is month to month.

So would ordering a new phone on 2 year contract on BB and not turning it on with the new sim renew the contract?
Or would I need to toss new sim, put old UDP sim in it and use it for a bit and then transfer back to Note4?
Thanks.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have 4 lines

L1 UDP upgrade available
L2 UDP no upgrade available until May 2016
L3 TDP Upgrade available
L4 DumbPhone No upgrade available

My Goal is to renew 2 year on L1 and L2 UDP lines so I can avoid $20 price increase.

What are my options and how do I executeven them.

Thank You in Advance This thread is awesome! #riseup #🔥

What phone do you want? If you are moving from a micro SIM to a nano SIM you'll need a SIM cutter so be ready or if it's a micro SIM You'll be alright.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

L1 UDP is Note 3
L2 UDP is S4

Phone preference does not really matter to me my main goal is to get contracts for L1 UDP and L2 UDP extended 2 years to avoid $20 increase per line.

I am however looking at LGV10 and Note 5 as top 2 options. I am completely happy with my Note 3 and have no need to get a new phone but the time is now to extend 2 years lol
