Do you know what type of plan the buyer had? Was it tiered or unlimited?

The phone was successfully activated on a tiered data line. My billing period is over and i'm now on the next cycle. my unlimited data line is still in tact. MY upgrade date is November 2017. [wipes sweat from brow.]

Edited: Sorry, one last thing... if you log into your Verizon account and check the "Activate or Switch Device" link, does your line show a Pending Upgrade, or does the page error out in some way when you try to check it???

If I chose to return to Bestbuy, is the 14 day return window from the day I ordered the phone or the day I received the phone. I ordered the phone 11/05/2015, they shipped it on 11/06/2015 and I received it on 11/09/2015. I still have my unlimited data but nobody seems to know what will happen with the line error message. I destroyed the SIM card that came with the phone and haven't even powered on the new phone. Was going to activate it on a basic line in the future. Thanks in advance!

so i used my wife's TDP and got the note 5 from Sam's. the note 5 was activated with the SIM it came with. can i do a simple switch device on VZW website or can i not use the phone at all. I was reading on slickdeals that 'UDP should not use phones that were gotten with subsidized price'.
any help is appreciated.

Okay I upgraded with the BB method on 11/14. I have 2 lines on my account which mine is unlimited and the other one is on tiered. I'm was on month to month but now it's showing my contract end date is 11/16/2017 so I'm guessing it took forever for the system to update my order. 2 questions...I seen where it said on the verizon bill that the increase of 20 dollars will not begin until u complete ur contract or enter in a new one. So will I be charged the 20 dollars still? Also If I was to activate the new phone on to my brothers account that's separate from mine then pop my sim card in it will I lose my unlimited. As of right now I still have unlimited. But if I'm going to be charge 20 dollar anyways then I might as well go back to month to month. I won't be able to find this out myself because my billing cycle runs out in 14 days as so as my return period. I'm new at all this so take it easy on me. Thanks in advance

The phone you subsidized to extend your contract is essentially toxic to your line. Even if you were to activate it via your brothers account you could not put in back on the line from which you upgraded from, in this case your UDP. I believe there may still be some unanswered questions about you using it on your tiered plan. but you may find the answer to that on the first page of the Slickdeals forum that is also covering the issue.

Transfer upgrade to Line 2. Buy new phone. Use phone and provided SIM on Line 2. Line 1 contract is extended/renewed with no change to data plan.

Did you use her upgrade or your own? If you used the unlimited's upgrade, then the phone is toxic. If you used the tiered's upgrade, it can be moved over.

I was wondering if you would know the answer to this question. I did BBM in early November and the new iPhone 6s was activated on 11/3/15 and my UDP has been intact to date. However the iPhone I've received appears to be defective (glass screen already cracked for no reason and I didn't even drop the phone).I want to try to get a replacement phone at the Apple Genius Bar, but by reading all the posts, I'm worried and confused if this will lose my UDP if I switch out my phone? From the slickdeals forum, I understand that Verizon appears to be associating the IMEI/ESN of the subsidized phone with the switch order. My general understanding is that a replacement from an Apple Store will not change the 'plan' just the hardware. I am curious to see if you or anyone here has had a replacement iPhone from an Apple Store and either maintained or lost UDP after the replacement. How would this process work at the Apple Genius Bar? Thanks!!

I believe that is the 4ever Method mentioned on Slickdeals and it too remains unknown at this time as no one who has used it has reported back to my knowledge. The first page of the Slickdeals site should be the first page anyone looks at since information is trickling in now at a faster rate and JulesJam is sorting through it all and updating that page as soon as the information can be verified.

I can attest to this working, however I have utilized Costco in order to do it for me, rather than attempt it myself thru my verizon.

I had a grandfathered 3G plan on an iphone 4s, with a 2nd dumbphone line. When it was time for my upgrade, Costco allowed me to take advantage of this loophole and I now have unlimited grandfathered LTE on 1 line, and a family share 2gb secondary line.

I have gone from an iphone 4s>galaxy s4>galaxy s5> galaxy s6 all without any issue keeping my plan. Costco FTW!

It's safe to use a Verizon store since the phone was purchased on a tiered upgrade. Feel free to bring the Note 5 to the store with you. It may be easier to go to a VAR and pay them to do it since they tend to be less of a hassle.
