Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

You are making it way to confusing. Have your brother upgrade, put your SIM in his phone. If y'all are on the same account, yes transfer your upgrade to him. He can just activate the phone normally. You will not lost anything.

Lucky me! Verizon is selling iPhone 7 on their website already so I can buy iPhone 7 for the subsidized price :D From your experience which iPhone 7 is best to get for maximum profit?
Probably the jet black, if you can get it on September 16th and sell it immediately

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Again, thanks for the info in this thread. Two time BBM user in contract until 2018, UDPs.

Question. Can I downgrade to 450 minutes to lower my bill some? We don't use minutes.

Two lines, UDPs, 700 shared minutes, unlimited texts. Still in contract. $150/mo.

Curious if minute downgrade is possible, and if it's worth it.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I just ordered a Verizon 6s plus on Best Buy. I did the same thing two years ago and saved my unlimited data plan. Is this method still working? I can cut up the sim that comes with the phone and insert my old sim from my iPhone 6 and I'll keep the UDP right?

And can I transfer my upgrade to him later on?
You can transfer the upgrade. It is recommended that you sell that phone though and purchase another at full retail.
My brother and mom have upgrades and they are on a 2gb plan. Can I use his upgrade and put my SIM in that phone?
Yes. He can directly upgrade his line and then you can just swap the sim.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Here's my situation. I have two Verizon UDP with nationwide 450 plans. One of the lines is eligible to upgrade. Can I order iPhone from Best Buy, throw away sim and use my old sim with new phone to keep udp? Or do I HAVE to sell the phone? Thanks

Dude give time for somebody to answer.

No you can not order from a line and keep that phone on it. Just using the old SIM doesn't work anymore. You will lose your UDP. But yes you can sell the phone.

Yes. He can directly upgrade his line and then you can just swap the sim.

Why is it recommend he sell the phone and buy a new one? As long as he never puts that phone on his line he is good.

Selling and buying is a lot of unnecessary steps.

Great thank you. I just ordered iPhone 7 for 215$ after tax. I'll take out the sim cut it up and sell it for about $400 profit. Then buy a new iPhone 6s with the money and my unlimited data plan will remain intact for another 2 years ostensibly sound correct?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hello, I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have an old Americas Choice plan with unlimited data at $29.99. If I do the Best Buy method and sell the new phone I understand that I will have a pending activation on the line which will drop off after a few months.

My question is, will the pending activation prevent me from making changes to my plan? I will be traveling internationally in a month or two and will need to add a data roaming package temporarily. Will I be able to do this with a pending activation?

Thanks for your help.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Directly upgrade line 3 and 5. I would order 5 through a third party online (apple or best buy). Line 3 you can activate on 3 and then just swap Sims.

Line 5 must not be turned on. Remove the sim and destroy it. Then put your unlimited sim into it. You will not get the data locked in on line 5. The catch is you can't change the phone on line 5 or call 228 from the phone on line 5. If you do the data will be locked in for 2 years.

Do I have to activate 3 and then swap sims or can I just swap sims before activating and put an UDP sim in. Basically doing the same thing I am doing for line 5.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hey everybody, I'm trying to get the iPhone 7 Plus. Here is my situation.

I currently have two lines.

Line 1 (mine) - Unlimited Data Plan, not eligible for upgrade until 09/2017

Line 2 (mom's) - 2GB data plan. Available for upgrade right now.

Can I purchase the iPhone 7 Plus under my mom's line via device payment plan or 2 year pricing and then once I receive the phone, that I simply stick my SIM card into the new phone to keep my unlimited data?

Yes, assuming that your current sim is nano.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

You already answered my situation, (I included it below), saying I can upgrade L4 like normal (since it's already at the $49) and use the phone on one of the other lines, which is what I want to do. My question is, do I need to turn the phone on L4 before I move it to another line, or once it comes, I can just go online and move it to L2 without activating it on L4? And I can leave the sim in it, right? I'll post back here what happens when it comes :-)

I have Nationwide Tlk & Txt Share 2000 plan with 4 lines, all have UDP

Line 1 UDP $ 29.99 Upgrade available 4/2017
Line 2 UDP $ 29.99 Upgrade available 4/2017
Line 3 UDP $29.99 Upgrade available 4/2017
Line 4 UDP $49.99 Month to Month upgrade available now (yes, I know, shame on me for letting that contract lapse and get the $49.99 rate!)

Thanks for feedback!

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Quick question about a Nationwide family plan:

Line 1: UDP @ $30/mo, Contract expires 9/23, Upgrade eligible
Line 2: TDP, Still under contract

Happy with current phone on Line 1. Want a new phone on Line 2. If I use Line 1's upgrade to get a new phone under 2yr contract, then destroy the new phone's SIM and insert SIM from Line 2 to activate, will that cause Line 1 to lose the UDP?

I want to avoid losing UDP and avoid the UDP price increase on Line 1.

Thanks!
