Why did you call to activate your phone?? Didn't u just use your old sim with UDP and put that in the new phone?

He said it didn't work. At that point, return the phone if you can't get it to work. It will restore your upgrade if you do. But do not involve Verizon in this process.

I was on the phone this morning at like 6:10. I got a nice lady who told me she would try to put it back on the account - no go on her end. Told me about the 6gb Max plan. Then she offered to call Best Buy and do a conference call. She Googled and found their number. We tried to call, but they aren't open yet. She told me to fax her the receipt from Best Buy (her fax machine had no answer). She also told me she is going to call me back by 8am, but we'll see.

Does this trick only work with ordering phones through Best Buy, or does buying from other 3rd Party Resellers works as well? Say if I were to order a phone from Amazon, and throw my existing SIM in there when I went to activate. Would that work, or Best Buy only?

It would only work if the other retailers allow you progress to check out without selecting a new plan. None do that I am aware of, but you can try on their websites and see what will happen.

I believe it works on Moto Maker because Moto Maker uses Best Buy's system.

Well after being on the phone for hours I was unsuccessful in getting my new MotoX for .01

Evidentally the motomaker website doesn't work for business accounts...and the deal isn't available in store where I can pick up my motomaker "code". So I am stuck with my GS3 for a while still...

Search the Moto X forum; there may be a way to do this IIRC.

I'm looking at getting the Galaxy Note 3 from there. Have a Razr Maxx currently so i'd have to get a sim card cutter.

I got grandfathered in to the unlimited data and would rather not lose it either.

It is nice to know though that I could get upgraded to 6gb without having to get the Edge plan.

Of you buy a phone from Swappa you just need to go get a new SIM card from the store. Your buying the phone out right so you keep your unlimited. It's not because of any faults in the system.

Would I have to get the sim card from Verizon directly? Don't see it available at Best Buy.

EDIT- Just did some research as I was having trouble finding an answer googling. Verizon will mail me a sim card or I can go to a store to get one

only question i have that i haven't seen mentioned, my account lost the insurance offered thru verizon because i had made 2 claims in one year (bad luck, 2 broken screens within a month). so does anyone know if we are able to get the insurance back on once we purchase these new phones? i don't want to pay the geek squad $10/month, i'd rather just pay it on my phone bill for the $7 or so a month thru verizon. if anyone has any experience regarding this insurance, please provide any input that may be helpful.

We can answer that for you! Once you have exceeded the allowable number of claims in a 12-month period, you must wait 12-months and purchase a new phone before coverage can be offered. Keep in mind, even though your policy was cancelled, you still have a 12-month limited warranty on the replacement device you received with your last claim. If you experience a warranty failure within that 12 month period, you may be eligible to have a warranty replacement sent to you at no additional charge. We hope that information helps. All 4 lines have upgrades available.

I want a new smart phone on line 1 but want to keep unlimited.

Step 1: Order a new smartphone online using the upgrade for line 4. Choose 2GB Tiered Plan.
Step 2: Activate the phone with line 4 when I receive it
Step 3: Reactivate the basic phone on line 4.
Step 4: Remove the dataplan from line 4 either via a phone call or via online.
Step 5: Put the sim card from line 1 in the new smartphone and I?m good?

Just want to confirm this still works before ordering the phone.

Yes, that will work to keep UDP on line 1. When you are using a basic phone line's upgrade on the basic phone line and not transferring an upgrade just transferring the phone after activation on the basic phone line, there is no danger of losing your UDP.

Plus restocking fees? Sounds like a hassle.

When I put my old sim in the Note it wouldn't activate. When I called Verizon it was still showing as being in my old phone so she had to switch it so it showed up on the Note. Just an FYI that my plan was already showing as being downgraded to 2gb which is why I called. The phone told me it was activated, and I didn't even know there was a problem until I called Verizon to find out about the 2gb switch. It automatically put me on the 2gb plan as soon as I tried to activate the phone.


And of course I missed Verizon's call back this morning by all of about 2 seconds. I'll keep you all posted as to what happens. It sounds like I'm going to be forced onto the 6gb Max plan, but such is life. I have better things to worry about than data.

I read his posts. All he did was get lucky. They denied his claim with all his faxed in proof. Just getting a fax number is like pulling teeth. You have to get a rep who knows how to use their resources and also understands what resources are available on their end. If you can't get a rep that can do that/will do that, then it's a lost cause. I'm giving it until Saturday evening, and then I'm giving up.

I would call Verizon and tell them you are going to return the phone if they won't restore UDP.

OK, well that is different. It said keep existing plan and you checked that, did not select a new plan and at check out it said keep existing plan?

Back in October i had Galaxy s 3,,, upgraded through bestbuy mobile and upgraded to the LG G2 ON SALE FOR $99.99

Reused my galaxy s 3 sim cards and booyah unlimited left untouched til October 2015

I talked to yet another rep just a few minutes ago. By far the most helpful. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens, but I'm not holding my breath. The system glitched on me which is my luck. Everyone else will probably be fine.
