[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So order the S5 online (when its out) for line C, activate the S5 on line C, then reactivate the iPhone on line C, then activate the S5 on Line A?
Yes.

Then when Line C is ready for an upgrade, transfer Line A's upgrade to Line C.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

you can definitely cut down a SIM card and usually it is fine but sometimes it doesn't work right after you cut it down.

I went from a Droid Bionic to a Samsung Galaxy S4 with this method. I had to cut my old Bionic's SIM card to fit in the S4. When I tried to activate on Verizon's site with the old cut SIM in the new S4, I initially got an error type message saying I was using a 3G SIM, and I would have to contact them or request a new SIM. It seemed strange, since the Bionic is most certainly 4G, and the SIM itself had "4G LTE" printed on it.

Anyway, after calling Best Buy, and talking with their rep, they were unable to activate it with my old SIM. At that point I put in the SIM that came with the new phone and it activated with no problems. The included SIM that came with my S4 wasn't already inserted, but was just in with the phone, inside the box.

That was my experience, and I was able to keep my UDP. I think my original post was back on one of the first few pages, and I see 15 pages now!

ok last thing... I get how to activate the new phone. What is the best way to re-activate the iPhone 5s and then the S5 on Line A without involving Verizon?

What is the best way to re-activate the iPhone 5s
Turn off the new phone. Then go to verizon wireless online, MyVerizon, Activate or Switch a Device, select Line C. Pick Activate a device you have already had on the account, select the iPhone 5s from the drop down menu. It will ask you if you have a SIM card, say yes, then pop the SIM card out of the iPhone 5s and read the number on it and type it in. Then put the SIM card back in the iPhone 5s and continue to follow directions.

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Ok guys I just activated my Maxx on a basic line, now when I go in to reactivate my basic phone on the same line it states 'pending order' and I cannot make any changes to the line... the selection icon is grayed out.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

They've been out of stock now for a couple weeks, unfortunately. I'm almost beginning to wonder if they will ever re-stock the Verizon G2! Even the vast majority of all Best Buy stores around me have been out of stock for a couple weeks.

I looked into upgrading to the G2 through Costco for $50 + tax on my line (unlimited, eligible for upgrade), and trying to keep unlimited. The guy behind the counter seemed pretty confident he could do it, and I would have attempted it, but the family plan I'm on had a past due balance :( Had my dad take care of that, but I haven't gone back to Costco yet to try again. Now I'm at the point where I'm wondering if the G2 would even be worth upgrading over my GSIII, or waiting for the next latest-and-greatest to use my upgrade on. GS5, for example, doesn't look like it would be worth the upgrade (darn locked bootloaders).
If you're still in the market for a G2, BB has them back in stock for shipping.

Give it a bit to see if it will go away on its own. This is normal.

Re: [Instruction]How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hey guys, I finally did manage to set up my Maxx on my unlimited line...it was too easy. I'm surprised Verizon actually allows you to do this.

Thanks everyone so much for the help.

I would wait at least one billing cycle before I would try that.

It has happened before..... But I agree wait one cycle just in case.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I wonder if it is tied to the new sim card? Or that may be wrong, since many people have done this and probably had the upgrade taken off.....hmmm we'll see tho. This is still awesome, I'm telling all my friends with unlimited data to do this while they can.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I received the HTC one Max yesterday. Cut down my old SIM card and everything worked perfectly. My Verizon still shows unlimited data. Only this is that it still shows my device as the old rezound. Any one else have that happen? Contact date was extended two years.

Turn the phone off, pull the SIM card and keep it out for about 5 minutes. Then put it back in and turn on the phone again. See if that works.
