[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I don't know why but every time I try and see Ik I'm eligible for an upgrade ( where I have to put in my number zip code last 4 SS and billing PW ) after I click check eligibility it says
"Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again."
Anyone know why? Or what?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Trim the old sim to fit in new phone.
My question in regards to this process is what happens if your SIM card isn't compatible with the new phone? Just getting a new one from the store after activating it on the dumbline/other line and then using that new SIM card that you got on your line would work fine?

Another nail in unlimited data. No more DEVICE PAYMENT PLANS. Thanks vzw for killing it before releasing the G3.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

There is just one question I have seen conflicting info on:

I transferred my upgrade to a 2gb line and bought the G3. Do I need to activate the phone on the 2gb line first, or can I just put in my existing SIM card from my UDP line?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

My galaxy will be here tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

so, all I have to do is take the sim card out of my iphone and put it in my galaxy and then go through the activation process??
oh, BTW, how do I open the iphone?? do I have to have a special tool???

are there any DON'T DO tips?? I want to make sure I do this right.
THANK YOU so much for your help. I'm so thankful I came across this forum!!!

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just put the sim card from your old phone in the new one and power the new phone up.

Do not power the new phone up with the sim that came with it. Do not call verizon or best buy.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Did I miss the boat on ordering an LG G3 with shipping? Any ideas if this will come back @ $99?

dnyor93,
Same problem here. My solution was to use only the 1st 4-digits/characters of my VZW billing password

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Has anyone been able to do an alternate upgrade to a Motorola Moto-X customized on the MotoMaker website? I've tried this several times online and when it gets to the end, it says the line with the transferred upgrade is not eligible. It's like the upgrade transfer doesn't actually take place until you buy a phone off the VZW website.

I even tried in a corporate store and they could only give me two options: 1) upgrade using the original line (the one with ULD), or 2) pay for the phone in the store and enter the id number on the MotoMaker website. Problem is, the phone on MotoMaker is $50.01 for the 32G model and buying it in store is $199 (less a $25 discount).

It won't be that simple. If you have a LTE iPhone (5/5S) it uses a nano SIM so you need either a SIM adapter (Galaxys have micro SIM) or a new SIM. If you have 3G iPhone (4/4S) you need a new LTE SIM.

To get the SIM out look for a hole on the side of the iPhone beside a tray and stick a paperclip in it.

Re: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price.

I do not know if anyone has tried this or not. But I have one UDP line. If I wanted to, can I open up a new smartphone line and get the LG G3 on it tomorrow and after I leave the store switch the sim cards between my current UDP phone and the new LG G3. Will that work for keeping the UDP and allow me to get a subsidized new phone? Or will someone catch on to it and cause me to lose my UDP? I've been paying full price for all my new phones and its getting rather expensive.

You'll be locked in to the new Smartphone line in addition to your UDP line for the duration of the contract. You'll be paying for two lines.

Re: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price.

Greetings friends, and thank you for the assistance!

Family plan with Droid4 (UDP month-to-month) and Dumbphone (eligible 2015). Droid4/UDP is eligible for upgrade. I should switch the upgrade to the dumphone line, correct? I want to upgrade the Droid4 to an HTC One (M7). Both BB.com and HTC.com say I have to pick up the HTC One at Best Buy, which it sounds like it would risk my UDP.

I understand that once I get the HTC One, I should swap the Droid4 SIM into it and NOT activate but just use the phone. My question is how can I get the HTC One via mail order at discounted ($1 or free) price without having to do the UDP-killing activation at Best Buy?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

is it worth it to pay for the Geek Squad protection plan from Best Buy???
has anyone had any experience with that??

Thanks so much

I have a 4S - I know how to get the sim card out. but, are you saying that sim card won't work in the new galaxy???
I thought it did, which is why I went and bought the phone.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Line 1: S3, UDP, Upgrade Available.
Line 2: IPhone 4, 2GB Tiered, Upgrade Not Available.
Line 3: Dumbphone, Upgrade Available.
Line 4: Dumbphone, Upgrade Available.

So in order to keep the UDP and upgrade to a S5 on line 1 at subsidized price:

Step 1: Order S5 on Line 3 through Verizon website (Does it also work with 3rd party retailers? i.e. Amazon).
Step 2: Temporarily activate it via included instructions.
Step 3: Reactivate original dumb phone on Line 3 though website (disabling the S5).
Step 4: Insert Sim from Line 1 S3 in S5.
Step 5: Cancel Data on Line 3 (if it is't properly dropped in step 3).

Also, since the upgrade from the UDP Line 1 is't being transferred, are Steps 2-3 necessary? If it was transferred?
