no the other line that takes the upgrade is the one that will need the data plan for the full 2 years, that is what verizon is changing, and you can't drop the data plan from the line.
but I don't have a basic line upgrade available right now and will be transferring a udp line's upgrade to my basic line to get the iPhone 6. I am presuming that when I do, that will extend the udp contract by 2 years and the udp line will be the line with the 2 year data requirement (which is OK with me). I am presuming this because that is how things work now, but really, we will see what happens after the 24th when someone tries this.
If I had a basic line upgrade available now, I would use it before the 25th because after the 24th, you will be stuck with a 2 year data plan commitment on the previously basic line.
