[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have
Line 1 UDP LG G2 ugrade
Line 2 UDP iPhone 5 (wife) no upgrade
Line 3 TDP iPhone 4 (step son) no upgrade.

Getting my wife the new iPhone (that's what she likes)

Went into store, told them I want to transfer upgrade from Line 1 to Line 3. Girl says you will lose your UDP. I replied, no I won't. She went and asked another worker and came back and said yes you will lose it. I didn't argue I just said OK and walked out the store.

As soon as I got home I did the transfer online and though out the whole process it shows all lines and of course I keep the UDP. Now just have to wait for the phone and do the rest. But I know there will be no problems.

I don't know if the people in the store are just stupid, or they are told that to try and get people to give up their UDP. Right now I'm over 100 GB with like 4 days left on my cycle. She saw that and didn't even try to talk me out of giving it up LOL

I've seen too many stories like this, well into the time they should know and when I've experienced employee's so consistently lying I've found that there are commissions involved. I'm pretty sure there is a commission for Verizon reps for every UDP they convert to tiered data.

Haha no surprise here but I'm sure you were expecting this. Please let us know how the rest of it goes. THX!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I’ve become concerned with the BB method based on a personal experience which just happened last night (11/19). I helped a friend through the process. Several hours later he received an email saying that BB had to call Verizon which in turn Verizon told them he would have to select a new tiered data plan and that he needed to call them. I know this has happened to others by reading EVERY post in this thread but I can’t remember everything I’ve read here. So, I’m looking for what YOU did that have experienced this same scenario. From my reading and from what I can remember, you cancel the order (which he already did), wait a few days or a week then attempt the order again. Any additional feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

BB Method Still Working? 11/19

Hey Guys,
I know a bunch of you have used the BB method to upgrade your unlimited lines. I've also seen some recent posts indicating some issues with that method. Just wondering if anyone has some recent updates on whether it's still working?(also, are the pending activations still dropping off) Getting ready to attempt to upgrade to a Note 4 but still a little gun-shy! :-)

Also, I 've heard of the "4evermethod" mentioned, could someone post the link to the post for that or explain it in simplest terms for me?

Thanks!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

BestBuy Method is still working.

FYI- a family member just successfully used the BestBuy method to upgrade their smartphone and extend our UDP for 2 additional years. I did so about 3 months ago also.

-Intermediate phone replaced iPhone4 on Nov.10th
-BestBuy.com order placed on Nov.14th.
-New phone delivered and SIM card swap on Nov17th.
-Verizon website shows UDP and contract changed from month-to-month to 2016.

Sort of a related question on this...

A few months ago I got a G5 to replace my old moto phone. Upgrade worked great, still have UDP on that one.
I just ordered a note4 from BB to replace the G5, using the upgrade transfer from wifes phone, an older moto... She wants the G5, I want the note4.

Do I just swap the sims to transfer the phones or do I have to deal with Verizon?
I would stick the G5 sim in the note 4, then the sim from her moto into the G5... That correct?

Thanks, Joe

How did you do a transfer on BB site? Never have I seen this option. Also let us know if you get an email saying you need to change your data plan.

That's good to hear; I ordered my upgrade phone just this morning!

Also, let us know if you get the same email saying you need to change your data plan. I'm trying to determine if my experience last night is random and if some are getting through without getting that email.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Whoo hoo! Thanks a lot for confirming this, going to give a shot when I get paid on Friday! :-)

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

actually quick follow up to that, does the BB method work with the Nationwide plans or only Family Shared plans?

I did the transfer on Verizons site... Didnt seem to 'take' there, when I went to BB site it didnt have the main number as an upgrade and asked if I wanted to transfer an upgrade from the other number... Did that and all went through OK.

No email yet! BUT its only been a few hours ;}

Still wonder if the sim swap is all I need to do to switch phones...??

Thanks

Yeah his order went through as well but then later that evening or sometime throughout the night he received an email. Please let us know. And yes all you would need to do is remove the preinstalled simcard before turning on the phone and insert your existing simcard you are using right now (BB method).

Verizon transfer you activate on the tiered line with preinstalled sim, use the phone a bit on that line then revert that line back to the previous phone and activate the new phone on your UDP and with that preinstalled sim that was activated on the TDP, from what I have gathered in this thread.

I'm eagerly awaiting tx_tuff results!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I successfully used the BestBuy method on my Nationwide 700 -unlimited Text -unlimited data plan.
Simply swapped my old SIM for the one sent with the new device.
The new SIM should not ever be used if you buy a new device for the subsidized price and want to keep UDP.

Phone doesn't ship till the 21, but I'm not worried about it at all. I will update.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I want to avoid any confusion so I registered just to ask the following:

I have a single line, unlimited data, and its month to month. If I order online through Best Buy, switch the sim card with the one I have from my old Galaxy S3, would I still be in business? Seems like most people on this thread can play with multiple lines and I don't have that option.

Yes this is the BB method. Hopefully you won't get the email my friend did. See a few of my posts back. Let us know how it goes please.

I have a single Verizon line with unlimited data. I placed an order for an iPhone as an upgrade around 10:00AM today (11/19), with an estimated delivery of 11/25. This afternoon I received an email from Best Buy saying that my order has been shipped. A half hour or so after that I received an email from UPS said that I'm receiving a delivery tomorrow!

Tomorrow I switch SIM cards and see what happens! I plan to sell the iPhone on eBay right away, and use the money to buy a Nexus 6.

Sent from whatever device I happen to be using today using Tapatalk

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I am very tentative to use the BB method as losing my UDP would be devastating to my usage. I called verizon last night to see if i could transfer my upgrade to my girlfriends phone and they immediately told me that the moment i transfer that upgrade my UDP will go to a 4 gig monthly plan. I have a couple of questions regarding this method...

1) If i order a replacement sim card in case i ever have a sim card issue, will that extra sim card automatically make me lose my UDP?
2) Has anyone else transferred their upgrade to another line to get a new phone and lost their UDP?

im so damn tempted as my LG G2 is just not cutting it anymore....
