How long have you been activated?

A couple days. My Verizon shows the new phone as the primary device, along with all the old plan details.

Fyi.. got a shipment confirmation from vz on my note 7... I have the 49.99 udp and upgraded with 2 year price for $299 through Verizon website... Will post back once phone is active and let you know if i retained udp... Everything on the website indicates that my plan will stay the same but who knows with vz..

I have UDP and was going to order but it looks like I would lose my unlimited hotspot and also lose my Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Disc on each line. Did you have either of those option and if so were you able to keep them?

I think you are going to lose your $20 discount once your off contact anyway... I have udp and use "foxfi" for hotspot (don't know if I'm able to discuss foxfi on this website)... On vzw it looks like i can still add unlimited hotspot for $29.99 a month to my plan if you want to pay Verizon for that... Are you paying $49.99 for unlimited or $29 for udp? If you are on 29.99 for udp then you have to do bb method and sell your phone and destroy your new bb sim in order to renew contract if you want to renew contact and keep everything the same

After rereading your post it seems like you are still only paying 29.99 for udp.. i think your only option is to either let the your plan go "off contact" and start paying 49.99 for unlimited then you can upgrade directly through Verizon at a 2-year contract price .. ex $299 for the new note 7.... Or you can upgrade through bb then SELL PHONE WITHOUT ACTIVATING IT AND DESTROY THE SIM that comes with it.. NEVER EVER ACTIVATE THAT PHONE ON YOUR UDP LINES... Then use that money to buy outright another "clean" version of that phone and activate it on your account... That should renew your contact without any changes

I'm really curious to see about the people that are renewing their 29.99 udp through BB and selling phone and buying another "clean" phone...
My concern is that swappa is going to be flooded with brand new note 7 from people all doing the same thing... If Verizon is somehow keeping a log of those ime # from the phone that is tied to the 2gb data "change order" .. My fear would be that the phone you buy from swappa might still screw up your udp because it's from someone else trying to do the same thing...
Its going to be interesting to see if trading phones with another Verizon customer trying to do the same bb method "trick" is gonna still work if they are tracking ime# of phone...

My concern is that swappa is going to be flooded with brand new note 7 from people all doing the same thing... If Verizon is somehow keeping a log of those ime # from the phone that is tied to the 2gb data "change order" .. My fear would be that the phone you buy from swappa might still screw up your udp because it's from someone else trying to do the same thing...

There are less people doing it then you think, I don't think Verizon will be doing that.

Ok, before I pull the trigger on my vzw order....

What would be the best way to extend my udp contract to keep my $29.99 udp?

Option 1:
Just transfer my udp upgrade to my wife's tdp line and grab her a new note 7. Will this extend my udp contract?

Option 2:
Upgrade my udp line (choosing the 2gb plan). Destroy the Sim card that comes with it and just put my wife's Sim card in to activate on her line. If I'm correct, NOT activating the phone on my line with the included sim will keep me on my udp.

From what I've read and think I understand, both methods should net the same result, right? In the end, I want to extend my contract, keep my $29.99 udp and then eventually use my wife's upgrade in October to get me a new phone.

The issue is that the imei is tied to the phone number in which the subsidized upgrade came from. It won't matter if you buy a phone, so long as you don't buy back your exact phone with the same imei.

I would do #1, serves your purpose and is easier.

L1: UDP 4G LTE phone Yes

Individual $29.99 on-contract plan and I want to keep the new phone. Is UDVZWIP4 method best for my situation? No one is talking about it here.

1) Have a 4G LTE phone active on your UDP line before you order;
2) Order a new SIM card that is the correct size for the new phone you will be ordering by calling Verizon and having one shipped to you or buy one from a VAR;
3) Order the new phone using a UDP line's upgrade on a UDP line from a 3rd party retailer ship to home;
4) When the new phone arrives, do not turn it on or plug it in, remove the SIM card that ships with the phone and destroy it;
5) Log onto Verizon online and click activate or switch a device;
6) If you are asked do you want to activate or verify the phone that just shipped to you, click on "No, I want to activate a different device" or "Not activating my new device at this time, take me to the Activate or Switch Device page" (you may or may not be asked this);
7) Click you want to activate a device that has not been on your account b/f;
8) Type in the IMEI of the device and SIM card number of the SIM card you ordered in Step 1; and
9) Continue to follow the instructions.

This is my first post. I pre-ordered the Note 7 directly from Verizon Wireless. The mobile site allowed the option to keep unlimited data please see screen shot. Desktop site did not allow this option. Please try mobile site when attempting to upgrade with Verizon

My question: Can I keep the phone or will the imei trigger something causing me to lose unlimited data. I have a few Nano Sim cards at home. Currently using a Note 4. Thanks

If the system let's you keep it doing a direct upgrade on the line then you should be ok. Worse case you would have to return the phone during the return period to get back udp

I just upgraded my unlimited line. Transferred the upgrade to a basic line. The Note 7 was shipped today. My line was put back under contract. So far I still have the $29.99 UDP and the $20 talk and text discount. My billing resets at the beginning of the month.

I am swapping Note 7s with a friend.

I'm assuming your contract date resets after the new phone ships? I transfered my upgrade this morning to another line and also ordered a note 7. I keep checking, but my contract date hasn't reset yet. Hoping it resets tomorrow as my contract end date is 8/19 and billing cycle ends 8/20.

Yeah. I preordered on the 12th. My contract ended the 13th. I got an email today saying the phone shipped. I checked my account. The line is now under contract into 2018.

That is cutting it close. My billing cycle end the beginning of the month.
