Well that's a completely different topic then... upgrading the lines with tiered data then moving it to UDP is 100% kosher with Verizon.any Rep can do this for you. This thread is about using your UDP upgrade which isn't officially allowed

This thread is about getting a new subsidized phone on your UDP. Not just about using your UDP upgrade to do so.

True but the only difficulty is using the UDP upgrade. Otherwise no loophole needed. Of course some people are concerned about using tdp upgrade and moving to UDP line and are more than welcome to put theie situation here for the community to help.

Yeah seems like all the questions have been answered a million times but they just keep coming LOL.

I'm lucky enough to have one TDP like to go with my two UDP lines. So the work around are pretty easy.

Same here... I have tdp max plan so it is the safest route.

Of course the questions have been answered many times but people feel more confident having someone look into their exact situation, and I have no problem helping no matter how simple the question is

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have an upgrade on my UDP line, but am looking to use the upgrade and sell that new phone so I can buy the Pixel from Google.

Between the Best Buy method of upgrading online and throwing away the sim in the box and selling, or transferring the upgrade to one of the TDP lines on the account and upgrading that and taking the box and selling, is there an advantage to one method over the other? Since both are options for me, I didn't know if one method has less chance of running into issues.

I'm assuming in either situation the phones aren't locked to the account or have pre installed sims so I can literally just take the box from the upgrade and sell it without issues?

Sorry for the question, but I definitely appreciate the help!

I applaud you for that.

I try to help from time to time.

I would transfer the upgrade to the TDP line just to be safe. Also the phone will come with a SIM card pre installed. So you will need to open the box to take out the SIM card.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Directly upgrade line 3 and 5. I would order 5 through a third party online (apple or best buy). Line 3 you can activate on 3 and then just swap Sims.

Line 5 must not be turned on. Remove the sim and destroy it. Then put your unlimited sim into it. You will not get the data locked in on line 5. The catch is you can't change the phone on line 5 or call 228 from the phone on line 5. If you do the data will be locked in for 2 years.

For line 3, can I just destroy the SIM and activate on one of the UDP lines or does it HAVE to be activated on line 3 and then swapped?

You can activate it directly on UDP line since the upgrade came from a tdp line

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I'm currently 1 year into a 2 year contract. I'm looking to pick up a Pixel. I still have the $29.99 UDP, so I can't go through Verizon without it forcing me to change plans (I tried). My question is this: If I buy an unlocked Pixel through the Google Store and just slap my existing SIM card into it, will that allow me to keep my UDP without any issues? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

That should work with no problem. I was in the same exact situation as you last year, and purchased the Nexus 6P from Google, no issues at all.

I'm considering getting the Pixel myself.

Excellent. Thanks so much for the quick reply.

Yes you can but my understanding is that volte And WiFi calling won't work, meaning no simultaneous voice and data. It might also not show up as a Verizon device meaning Verizon would provide limited support And also they would automatically remove insurance Which can't be added back unless you buy a new Verizon device or during open enrollment.

I'm pretty sure that Voice over LTE is working on my Nexus 6P (I have Enhanced LTE turned on and an 99 percent sure I have used voice and data together on it) , so I believe that's incorrect. I definitely don't have the WiFi calling option though so I agree with that.

As far as insurance goes, I still have insurance on my line, but not sure if it's really valid if I was to submit a claim, I've read conflicting things on that.

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Nationwide 450 minutes unlimited data

L1, upgrade available

It is asking me to pick a new data plan. I can choose any plan as long as I don't activate the phone on that plan correct?

Re: [Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

That would be strange not to support it, but he would definitely know more than me. I'm just guessing there's still a chance it might (but have no info to confirm) . I believe that's what was originally said about the 6P too before it was released. And my 6P definitely does support HD voice when talking to others on Verizon.
