IRC has OFFICIAL leak of 2.2 for the Fascinate!

I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer so nobody gets in trouble.

I pulled my pants down too, but it's cuz I had to check them. Wow this is a shocker.

SWEET! As a VZW Sales Rep, I can speak for all of you and all of my fellow employees who are just as stoked for this!

I love it. It truly speaks to the popularity of this device and the overwhelming demand for Froyo that one tweet can create such a stir.

I am very excited for this to finally be coming together. One thing that i havent figured out is WHY oh WHY havent the developers asked for the "hackers" help yet. Obviously they are having a lot of problems with something wether it be bloatware or just bugs in general. It seems to me the people on these forums could be of great use to the developers seeing as they can take a "leaked" release of an OS and turn it around in 2-3 days as a working rom that everyone wants.

Maybe this is my two cents but we just buy and mod these phones and we are all on here a lot talking and arguing about them. Its not hard to believe that the higher ups that WORK and get PAID to make and design these phones would be on here reading and contributing just as much as were are. Maybe instead of false promises on a release date they could go off the grid and ask for some help from the people that will be getting the releases!

Sorry for the little rant! Happy this if finally getting this done. Cheers!!!!

2 reasons.

1. they dont NEED the indie devs help. our guys are awsome, they take what sammy puts out and make it better. but sammy WROTE the stuff. and you can believe they have a working 2.2 and 2.3 for months now. they have to make it play nice with vzw stuff. even though aosp is open source sammy vzw 2.2 isnt. they dont want other people playing with thier stuff.

2. they dont NEED the indie devs help. even if 2.2 isnt ready yet, they figure, it will be ready when its ready. sammy is a huge company. they get income from a large variety of products. out of every 10 tv's i install cable on, 7 are samsung. 7 out of 10, and thats a concervative number. thats not even mentioning the dvd and blueray players i see. if 2.2 takes too long and pisses a bunch of people off, who cares, not sammy, they have plenty of money.

Dont get me wrong I didn't mean to sound ungrateful or even angry in fact im actually very happy about this. I was just thinking out loud on here about this release. I understand that they write everything as well and that they have to make the update play nice with the VZX stuff. I just thought that it would maybe be pretty cool if a major company looked to ordinary people to help put out an update that is meant for the consumer.

You also mentioned that you install cable. Im sure you like doing that job or you wouldn't do it. Im sure that these people that work for Samsung like doing their job as well so i don't think for one second that they have the attitude of it will be ready when its ready.

Again im not trying to argue it was just and opinion that i had about what i thought would be a cool idea.

Judging from some comments made by indie devs, Samsung has some pretty crappy developers apparently. Or maybe it's because they have to do whatever it takes to get updates to work alongside all the carrier's BS.

I wouldn't say they are crappy developers. I don't do that job nor do i know anyone that does but i'm sure they have limitations like everyone else in any job.

I personally don't think that the samsung devs are crappy. If you really compare Touchwiz 3.0 to some of the other skins out there for android it really isn't that bad. The implementation of the lock screen with messaging and voicemail alone is a pretty nice feature. I really think that the problem stems from the bloatware crap. Each carrier has their own numerous apps that Touchwiz/Froyo must coincide with, making it difficult on samsung and other manufacturers to make a seamless transition from one version of android to the next.

Fascinate channel on IRC has a bulletin at the top stating "THERE IS NO LEAKED FROYO DONT ASK FOR IT IT WAS A FAKE"

I can only hope they just posted that to keep people from constantly bugging them for it.

The leak is definitely the real deal. I highly doubt someone with as much credibility as punkkaos would put his reputation on the line with the dev community by posting some fake post about Froyo.

Oh I hear ya. I've been following his twitter posts as he's working through it. It'd be kinda hard to just randomly make up that many steps.

Someone came into IRC demanding a link to Froyo. He was harrased and BS links were dropping as jokes. I had renamed a dj05 rom and put froyoleak as the file name.
Like I said- it was during the time we were harrassing this person demanding.

That link created madness like a wildfire. I tried explaining but like a wildfire- you can't put it out yourself because its spreading too fast.

In hindsight I feel like a complete ****** for doing it. It got out of control fast and mirrors were made and within 5 minutes someone took it upon themselves to post it on XDA as the leak that was eluded to earlier in the day.

The whole fiasco lasted about 20minutes of everyone freaking out. I apologize to the IRC channel. My joke was a bad decision! Hindsight is 20/20.

That is why the status header says that. Otherwise what you read on Kaos twitter is true for all I know.

Yea I really think those guys are going to keep the leak close to vest until they it can't be traced back to the source. They're not going to let some guy or gal lose their job over the leak.

That explains everything very well then. The BS one you made to mess with the guy was fake, not the one Kaos has.
