IRC has OFFICIAL leak of 2.2 for the Fascinate!

Well I'm glad that's cleared up. I would really hate to let everyone down after everyone referring to their pants falling off!

My earlier comment was made based on some things I've read from devs which talked about the difficulty of dealing with Samsung's code, that it's pretty hacked together so to speak.

The "hacked" part you are referring to goes hand in hand with Touchwiz. To get it to work the way they wanted it to Samsung had to "hack/chop up" the original code that was sent to them by Google. I don't necessarily blame them for doing that if that's what it takes for Touchwiz to work properly and smoothly. They made a product for the average consumer who would never even think twice about Rooting/Hacking their device. But I agree it sucks that it makes it more difficult for the dev community to dig through their code for that reason but they didn't make Touchwiz or the device for the dev community. Hence the Nexus S.

That brings up something I'm really looking forward to, Touchwiz on Froyo. I'm one of the few that actually like TW, and especially find AOSP to be bland, which is the only way I've seen Froyo in the past. I really think the combination of the 2 is going to be beautiful. Even if the dev's got a vanilla 2.2 rom out before official Froyo, I probably wouldn't touch it for just that reason.

I think it's an adequate Launcher. I have to say that I personally prefer to look and feel of Launcher Pro over Touchwiz. But I LOVE the implementation of Messages and Voicemail into your lock screen that Touchwiz does. I'm the kind of person that's likes the ability to personalize my device to the extreme which Touchwiz hinders a bit. Overall it's not a bad launcher it's just not the best for customization.

I would normally agree with you entirely, but I don't really find anything I want to change about it in the first place. I've tried all the other launchers. Though some had cool features I liked, they also had enough negatives in one way or another to keep me away. For example, they should all let you arrange your app drawer whatever way you like, but they don't.

^^ I love this about the TW launcher, but it does look a little bit too iphone-ish to me.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of the horizontal scrolling at first, but I've found it to be a little more fluent being in pages like it is to separate everything. When I first got my phone, someone saw it and asked what it was. I told them, "Samsung Fascinate." They replied, "oh that's the one like the iPhone right?" I bout threw it at them!

I think it's hysterical how people have drawn the line in the sand between Android and iOS. It really doesn't bother me if someone makes a comparison to an Android device and the iPhone mainly because they were the first ones to make a "real" smartphone. It's the average consumer that would generally make those comparisons anyway, not the well informed individuals like ourselves.

RIM beat Apple. They're the pioneers here. Too bad they've fallen off the map as of late or I'd still be with them. They made it real easy to leave when I didn't have anything "new" to look at for my last upgrade.

I stand corrected, RIM did beat Apple in making the first smartphone. My stance is that RIM messed up by focusing the vast majority of their devices on Enterprise where Apple made their device for the everyday Consumer. I think RIM realized that and introduced Blackberry 6 OS and the piece of crap Torch. I really think Android/Google needs to focus on a more uniform way to get their premiere devices to the latest version of Android to get them to the next level.

It bothers me the level of 'fanboy'ism that people have got to these days.

Its just a device. Those are just companies trying to get your money, not the devil out to steal your soul (Apple).

If you don't like touchwiz you don't have to use it. If you don't like iPhone you don't have to buy one.

But people get loyal and hate on the competition so fierce that they don't even want someone they don't know at the other end of the IRC or forum to even have one.

If someone doesn't take the time to figure out that popular thingie they have isn't the best option for them- I say so be it.

ok /rant lol

Oh and if a launcher you like doesn't have a certain feature... email the developer and request it! You can get their email right from the download page in the Market.

Agreed:) haha

Well in all actuality, Palm, closely followed by Microsoft were the first. But you said "real" smartphone... :p

I don't like Apple products less so because of the products, but because I don't like Apple as a company, much less Steve Jobs as a person from what I can tell from reading. Plus Apple's products post Jobs' return have always seemed like they were made for children to me.
