IRC has OFFICIAL leak of 2.2 for the Fascinate!

What would be on it that they could trace it? I know i read that there was a watermark. This is interesting so thought id ask

not even 1 update (can't count service updates) in the time I've owned the phone. Meanwhile iPhone has had a few.

I probably won't be able to jump ship for awhile anyway because I'm a new Verizon customer. The iPhone would cost me $650 since I'm so far away from new every 2 upgrade.

And I imagine they will be outrageously priced on eBay.

A close friend of mine is getting it when it comes out so I'm glad I get to test it out before making a decision anyhow.

I could care less about multiple updates but I do want froyo for a few extras that we don't currently have. When I was on the D1, I never had an update. Once I rooted and modded, I never got them any more ;) Seriously though, my brother in law got the Froyo update on his D1 and ended up having a lot of problems with it. The SF had a few things out of the box that the D1 and other droids did not until 2.2 rolled out. BT calling was a big one for me. I think this phone is great. Once we have flash and A2SD, we should be all set for a bit. Not to mention the roms that will be generated from 2.2 ;)

I am running DL09 and everything is fine... GPS, BT, etc. Running voodoo too.

All software in development is watermarked, so if it were to be leaked, it could be traced back to the source that leaked it. We were done a huge favor by someone leaking this, so we (as a community) want to protect that person from losing their job. So the devs will rip through the code to find the watermarks and remove them so it can be released to the public. Same was done with the other leaked updates (DJ05 and DL09)

I fully understand and agree with why they are doing it. I am grateful for whoever had the guts or mistakenly leaked it, and would not want them in any sort of trouble resulting from it.

Was just curious. Now just got to sit back and wait :)

i think we can all agree we dont want any one losing thier job over this... but this does mean samsung wasnt lying and was testing it right?

If the leak IS official then it could either be from Samsung or even Verizon.

usually watermarks are eronious lines in the code. they dont effect the function of the os and you would never see them just be looking at GUI of the phone. when you take say the kernel, and view it as code, if you know what to look for, you will see the watermarks mixed in with the actual code.

To me that is the million dollar question. Was it leaked directly from Sammy, or is it already that far along that it was in Verizons hands? Does it have the Verizon bloat?

I am a bit suprised that this was not posted here yet:

Saps:
Little update for those who werent in irc the past hour. Kaos came in and cleared the air.
"Here's the talking points.

- ROM is ready to be released
- for the sake of the leaker ROM won't be released till enough VZW testers have it

So its not a watermark issue its a so few people have this build issue they could still trace it to the leaker. So now we just sit back and wait. So while this for some might create more anxiety. I think and hope this actually eases peoples minds. I know it does mine."

Other updates: Clockwork does not work nor does voodoo...

That's just because no one has made versions for it yet. They will come very quickly. Don't worry.

oh great... and when I just converted over to using voodoo...

I am happy with voodoo right now - but when ready - simple way to back up - disable lag fix. Flash a non-voodoo kernel and wait till they develop the voodoo kernel for 2.2...

As noted in other forums: voodoo and clockwork are after market products.. got to let the devs do what they do best and it will eventually turn out a working version.

I don't like Apple products less so because of the products, but because I don't like Apple as a company, much less Steve Jobs as a person from what I can tell from reading. Plus Apple's products post Jobs' return have always seemed like they were made for children to me.

Steve Jobs is the devil, and i'm a good Christian boy, So Jobs can go **** himself :D

LOL Steve's (both WoZ and Job) thinks iLife falls from the Apple tree. Then again he did block adult content from AppMarket, BTW I never used iPanzy or iPot.

Considering all of the other leaks have been the full verizon-ready version, you can bet that's what we are going to see. Samsung has no reason to even package a full version without their software, and they probably have a lot fewer holes from which to spring a leak, if you get what I'm saying.

I'm just hoping for a nice version of superclean, I don't have much desire to flash the bloaty version with all that VZW crap in it.

That being said, I am grateful that they're able to obtain and release it at all.
