Same here, touch wiz looks almost out dated. I like the sense on the evo. I do think the lock screen could use some polishing though.
Is anyone going to get rid of the Evo for the Epic4g?

I like the screen on the Galaxy phones. I don't like the slider form factor, though, for one reason; cases. I had a pre and getting a decent case for it was almost impossible. I also find myself typing faster on the touch screen keyboard than I did on the hardware keyboard. (maybe that was just the Pre, though)
I had an Instinct and it was ok, but I have heard bad things about Samsung's support after the phone has been released. I hate to say it but I think after Froyo is released for it they will move on and forget about updates. I can't really see HTC doing that.
And I like the kickstand too.

totally agree with you. i had the instinct back in the day and sprint didnt really care much for it and neither did samsung when my touch screen stopped working.
HTC > Samsung.
wish they made LCDTVs id buy them!

I wish they made Super AMOLED displays so they could use them in all of their phones! It's funny how HTC has better build quality but still depends on Samsung for some major components (and yes I know a LOT of phone manufacturers do, it's just ironic to me is all) <--- like the whole Apple A4/Hummingbird thing. LMAO that still makes me laugh.
When i think of Touch Wiz, I wonder.. couldnt they have come up with a better name?

cant say i have...? but yes HTC needs to get their asses in check so they make things quicker and even better
i feel that the only real manufacturer (well most phones companies don't manufacturer, but design them) that actually makes you completely satisfied with the hardware is Apple. You talk to an apple person, and they'll personally inconvenience themselves by holding it a different way. And then, they'll try very hard to convince themselves that it's comfortable!
I gotta say, Android on an iphone 4 (minus the stupid antenna issue) type hardware would be gold!

Also, i think touchwiz looks like the iphone GUI, seriously, the slide to slide sliding, the square buttons for apps. its iphone-isk, but its not as refined as the iphone.
im currently loving the evo, but when i see it getting beat by the X, and these new galaxy phones in tests its sad to me that this is a phone i JUST GOT.. perhaps its because this phone was the first of its breed with the big screen and such, and each phone after droid x,vibrant, captivate and so on had more time to refine android and utilize more of the power inside the phone..
could i be right on that??

This is only somewhat on topic, but I just sold my Hero today with the intention of getting an Evo. That being said, I am not 100% sold on the Evo. A coworker just got the the new Vibrant (Galaxy S) phone for T-Mobile. I must say it is very handsome and that display is amazing. I've been toying around the idea of getting an Epic when they are released, but A) the last Samsung phone I had was junk and B) I'm not sold on the slide-out keyboard.
I do believe, however, that Samsung has upped its game with the new Galaxy-S-based phones. That Vibrant sure looks and feels nice. I also remember playing with the HD2 when it was released and lusting over its keyboard - the Epic keyboard looks very similar.
I think it comes down to how long I can stand this year-old feature phone that I'm using in the meantime. Of course, if I were to get an Evo I'd have that 30-day return policy if I wanted to try out an Epic.

^ for some reason i think the EVO is going to be everything we always wanted with 2.2
as for the sliding KB, you can flip the evo into landscape to achieve the same effect..
the screen is amazing, its harder to see outdoors compared to the evo, but the blacks are inky blacks, and the colors are pretty amazing..
besides all that it looks like a iphone in shape and with touchwiz.

Before the Evo came out, I read up on both phones and was trying to decide which would be better...I wasn't too fond of the Evo's shape (like the Epic's contour better) and it appeared that the Epic had better screen and graphics. Even still, I went with the Evo and am happy with my choice even though I like this direct movie download feature of the Epic...I had to think though, when would I have time to sit and watch a movie on my phone? yes, the graphics are nice, but I'm no hard core gamer. Sideways slider...can't stand them. So, yeah...I will play around with the Epic at the Sprint store, but phone envy...nah. I love my Evo and with 2.2 around the corner, no reason to think about another phone right now.

By the time the GSP drops with 2.1, the EVO will have 2.2. Already outdated before release... glad I stuck with the EVO!
After using swype I am not sure why anyone would want a physical keyboard.

I am strongly considering the Epic.
I bought my Evos on launch day, so that 30 day window to return it is long gone. I will have to pay full retail.
But I am having a really hard time getting by without a keyboard. I need to be able to type without looking, and you just can't do that on a touch screen.
Plus, all the best touch screen keyboards (swype, shape writer) seem to be missing keys (or you have to go to an alternate screen or something to get to them) that slide out keyboards have.
For example, the Epic has a dedicated number row at the top, and has direction arrows too. That makes for faster typing, and you can even do it without looking.
In addition to all of that, I am bummed by the camera design on the Evo. It sucks that the lens gets scratched up when you sit it down. Not to mention the poor quality video recording.
And then there is the whoel battery life thing. Super AMOLED screens are supposed to be awesome for battery life.
The graphics and benhmarks and all of that are pretty much gravy. But I am really interested in the keyboard, camera, and battery life.
Oh yeah, and the video MMS. I can't send video MMS for some reason with my Evo and Sprint support has no idea why. Hopefully the Epic will work as advertised.
