I personally had decided this phone was a disappointment. As tech enthusiasts let's tell ourselves what we really really think about this device. Please watch this clip before commenting. It might help crystallize your thoughts and comments.

P .S I realized after posting this that there's already a similar threads here. My apologies.

That guy is an Apple Sheep so take his video with a grain of salt.

I never believe people that make statements like that...he has FAILED to convince me of anything other than people that love Apple are all the same...I’m loving my S20 and all my free gifts, and my incredible trade in amount...

I agree with that vid. Cameras are the major selling point of S20, and they suck, especially for the price. Has nothing to do with Apple fanboys. He is not the only one who said cameras suck and iPhone takes better pictures, and so does Pixel

I passed getting the S20 Ultra and am looking at hopefully the S21 next year. I've watched heaps of YouTube videos and it's almost unanimous. The video capabilities of this phone are less than what would be expected from this price point.

Focus hunting seems to be a major problem especially in videoing. And the 8K videoing runs at a low frame rate and stutters doing movement and misses out on the stabilisation features.

Interesting that apparently a new 150 MP sensor is being developed that looks like it might make it into the S21 plus new flash storage, 3.1 version that will improve 8K rendering.

Umm - some people actually have no problem with the camera besides the focus issue. I think the camera takes awesome pictures, day and night. There are others who are impressed also - not just me, Heck, there are videos all over YouTube that show the quality (and potential) of the camera. I really don't get why all the backlash is? (besides the auto-focusing) which should be addressed in the next update.

Also - all these phones that people love to keep comparing to the ultra, all have had almost a year (or more) of updates to iron out any issues. The ultra has been out for 2 weeks.

This phone does everything else better then the pixel though. I traded my 4xl for the ultra and couldn't be happier.

My observation the past few years is that all flagships, Android or apple, ship with flaws on day 1. It usually takes a few rounds of updates before things are ironed out for the most part. It's not a good look to release with issues. As it stands now the S20 ultra is not perfect and being one of if not the most expensive smartphone out there, it's issues are going to be center stage for everyone to point out. Time will tell.

Am I the only one taking brilliant pics on my snappy snapdragon 865 with 12 gigs of ram and 120hz refresh rate beautiful 6.9 inch Ultra?

Pixel 4 has a premium camera - Maybe the best camera out there today. Everything else about the phone is not even close to being a premium flagship phone like the Ultra - or even the note 10+ for that matter.

Agreed . For still pics its great. Video was trash though . I have no regrets for trading mine in for the ultra.

Well everything else doesnt effect productivity. Yes it's better but it's still usable. But if camera is bad, pictures you take (life memories) will be either bad or simply unusable. So camera is pretty important, everything else is just nice to have.
At 1400 with super camera that's not as good as iphone or pixel....yes it's a fail. Sure it takes good pictures, but so does Note 10 and Pixel 4 that I paid $400 for. At 1400 its supposed to blow everything out the water. Would be nice if Samsung fixed it

"bad or simply unusable"

Wha??...What phone are you referring to? Because it's surely not the Ultra.

Actually had my daughter use the s20 Ultra I bought her and a iPhone 11 pro, and then had her use my s10 plus filming and taking pictures of the same things and scenery.

I actually prefer my S10 plus over both. The ultra was very good as well as the iPhone.

I say that to say this.
To pay that much for the S20 ultra and the camera and screen display being it's main selling point. I personally feel Samsung could and should have done better before releasing it.
I really do believe they have dropped the ball on the Ultra when you look at it's price point regarding the camera only.
Everything else, great!

Now I had my daughter take the videos and pictures because I didn't want to Somewhat favor the Samsung devices.

She uses her S20 Ultra because I pay for it and that's what she wanted.
Her honest opinion was the S10 plus was better but it out performed the other 2 as a whole.
I just like her thought the S10 plus pictures/video gave a more natural look.

Just a note:

The pictures are of my grandkids so I will not post them.
Please understand.
I phone users, I just ignore them. The Ultra Camera should be blowing these other phones out the water.
Maybe updates are coming, but really it should haven't left the engineering department until it was.
Hopefully my Note 20 **
Will be better.

My camera isnt that bad i downloaded gcam and solved most of the problems. Its really just the autofocus thats a bit weird for me. Im sure it will get ironed out. To be fair im not a huge camera guy to begin with. My wife has a real camera for our important photos. Yes i do agree the camera should've been set to go out of the box. every phone has issues out of the gate. They're to concerned with meeting a stupid timeline rather then putting out a finished product.

Agree, with the camera as it should've been better since that is the main selling point and they failed to deliver on that. For outdoor pics I don't mind using the Ultra. For Indoors with lower light and taking pics of my family I use the iPhone 11 Pro mainly or Pixel 4. I don't do much video so that doesn't matter a whole much to me. Everything else about the Ultra just can't be touched by any other smartphone. The screen quality, screen size, speed, battery and DeX and the other Plethora of features Samsung throws in. The only feature I miss from my Pixel 4 when I'm not using it as my Primary is the Call Screen feature. I actually enjoy the more narrow form factor vs the Notes wider stance. If they don't cripple the smaller model Note this year like they did last year I'll probably end up checking that one out but I doubt that'll happen.

I am using S20, N10, and Pixel 4. Compared all 3, after that returned S20. Pretty much same results as many others, good camera, sometimes Note 10 is better....so what's the point paying for new phone with high end camera that sometimes takes pictures worse then old phone and worse then Pixel? I would love to pay for upgrade, not for downgrade.

I wasn't even thinking about the camera when I bought this. Camera works fine for a phone camera

Samsung made a mistake forcing 5G on the S20 line causing the price to be high. Nobody is wise enough to compare the price to the 5G versions of the note 10 and S10. With that said, yes phones are getting to expensive. They have been doing that for awhile, shouldn't have expected anything different here.
