Is Xoom slower than iPad?

I agree with you about the plug. I noticed that at least the first Gen droid from motorola uses a standard mini USB connection to charge as do if not all new android phones from everyone.

Point being is that I don't understand why Motorola decided to make a charger exclusive to the xoom. It really makes no sense and the plug is so small if you are not careful you can snap it off with very little pressure. Just a bad design.

Anyways I can't wait for new android updates for the xoom!!! Hope we get some release dates soon so we have something to look forward to!!!!

This has nothing to do with Google or HP. Netflix is barred from releasing apps due to copyright concerns from the motion picture industry. They can be protected in iOS. Due to Android's open nature and linux kernal, there are ways of getting at the video content and distributing it illegally. Until those security concerns can be worked out, you won't see Netflix. The good news is Netflix is working on it diligently.

Ironically, e-mail and intranet sites can be more secure on Android than iOS. Many companies, CA (Computer Associates) for example, will only supply Blackberry or Android phones to their employees because of this.

Actually it had everything to do with Google. They own and license the OS. They're not pleased with what's happened, but those are the pitfalls of having a semi-open platform. Last week, Google communicated to their licensed vendors that they needed to bring their hardware up to spec (Froyo will be the base) asap so that they may get past this roadblock put up my the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.

Look for some news on this in the coming 45 days. (Source: an editor for an online tech mag). YMMV.

My complaints, having both in the house and using them both for the past 3 weeks is not an issue of brightness at all. The difference is not subjective, it's a simple fact of quality. IPS in the iPad 1 and 2 vs the WXGA LCD (possibly TFT type) display in the Xoom. You can add back lighting to either and make them bright. The noticeable difference is in viewing angle, color, contrast and sharpness.

IPS is simply a better screen, which when side by side, the Xoom does look washed out and, well for lack of better words, like a cheap netbook screen. It gets the job done, but could be so much better. I deal with the lesser screen for the features of the OS, but if Xoom 2 hits with an IPS or better screen, I'll be upgrading day one.
Apple's IPS is an LCD screen. It's marketing. Both units use an LCD screen. The XOOM screen is technically higher resolution, therefore by definition sharper, but I'll take your word for it.

My 50-something year old eyes (with reading glasses) don't see any jaw dropping differences between the displays, other than the default brightness. Many peoples first reaction when we compare my XOOM to their iPad2 is an immediate comment that my screen is dim. I boost the brightness and they say "That's a lot better." To me, I'm now over-driving the screen and washing out the display. To them, it's nice. I don't get it.

Younger people can see a greater range of color warmth than older people. Two things happen to your sight as you age. Your ability to see close diminishes and you no longer see the full spectrum of colors. As a 50-something, I'll tell you I honestly can't see what the heck you're talking about. Whatever it is, it is beyond my range of sight.

I really can't wrap my brain around the idea that my eyes miss such a dramatic and experience changing difference that imply. "...if Xoom 2 hits with an IPS or better screen, I'll be upgrading day one."

But since I don't have your eyes, I'll have to assume you see something I can not. The ability to see sharpness doesn't change, so I'll challenge you on that, but you may be seeing some color vibrancy that escapes my eyes.
