I've got the EVO - ask me anything!

Hey Phil --

Is the Camera Button dual-detent/dual-stage? In other words, are there two stages for focusing and then photo taking (half press to focus, pull press to shoot) like on the Evo 3D or is it just single stage (press to shoot) like on the Motorola Photon?

Thanks!

From Phil: 2. The camera's supposed to focus when you do a half-press of the shutter button. And it's not doing that, as confirmed by a number of us yesterday. The good news is that it's continuously auto-focusing.

How is he trolling?! Do you people think before you sling that word around?

Plus that question has been posed numerous times between the forums and the news postings.

i think he was just kidding about the troll part. that's why he had a " :p " after his sentense.

i do like the color of the led on the nexus, too bad the evo only has green red and orange. that's what i remember unless they changed it.

I also like the GNexus LED color, but the placement isn't so intuitive and it doesn't seem to stay on long as I was used to with EVO OG. I seem to be turning my GNexus on too often just to check to see if I have a new notification. (I know there are apps to customize)

Does the phone look better in person than in pictures?

I'm not at all turned off by the looks of the phone but many people are. I have a feeling people will like the look of the phone a lot more when I have it in their hands (aka pictures don't really do the design justice).

Phil, thanks for taking time out of your day to answer questions!

yup, couldn't agree more. combine the color of the led and the way htc does notification will be perfect.

??? HTC Nav? It's got Google Maps on board by default.

They probably mean HTC Locations which was the offline navigation system HTC announced with htcsense.com. I don't know if it made it to any handsets in the U.S. Maybe it will come back with the revamp of htcsense.com.

The user manual shows that the EVOLTE comes with Google Nav and Telenav.

Does the Evo come with a SD card? The original came with an 8 gigabyte, and I need to upgrade to a 16 gigabyte in order to hold all of my music. But I want to wait to see if the new Evo comes with a 16 gigabyte card. So, does it come with an SD card or not? If so, what size?

There's not one in my box here.

A video review I watched (can't find it now) said they thought the back speaker sounded better than the one x in their opinion. That did't make much sense to me seeing as they are basically the same phone internally. Seeing as you have both at your disposal could you give it a test run? I am sure they are just nuts but I guess the slat speaker vs the holes on the one x could possibly make a difference.

Does it have the ability to remove pre-installed apps like what was introduced on the EVO 3D? You mentioned earlier that SprintZone couldn't, what about others?

Thanks, Phil. ETA for the review coming up? Mine's otw to my front door, but I'd love to read your thoughts.

If I'm coming from the NS4G, would this phone feel stupid big? Will there ever be a worthwhile upgrade option for a Sprint customer who wants a 4" phone?

I have the same questions...

So which kickstand do you find better?

Also, do you know if those HTC cases that were at CTIA will be available on launch?

have you tried running any graphic heavy games, like GTA3, or any others specifically designed for only Tegra chips, if so which ones have you tried and how smooth do they run
