How do you find the screen and speakers so far?

Posted via the Android Central App

I would say so far it is better than the original Nexus 5 despite it being a lower DPI. One of the problems I remember on my old N5 was there being a light bleed at the top and bottom of the screen. I immediately put an anti-glare screen protector on mine (I have a 2 year old and a $450 investment must last me at least 2 years). Haven't used it outside yet so I can't comment on the visibility in sunlight.

I also haven't watched any movies or listened to music yet. I got it last night on my way home from work and didnt get to play with it much (because of the earlier mentioned 2 year old). At work now. Will download some movies and music later and report back how it sounds. I find that the default notification sounds come through cleanly and are more obvious with the speaker being on the front. From a distance the lock/unlock sound effect sounds distorted/crackled but I just put the speaker up to my ear when playing those and that is just how it sounds and there was no crackle in it. Have only had calls over the BT in my car (one of the first things I setup) so I can't comment yet on the audio from the headset. But through the car it was great. My old N4 would constantly disconnect while on a phone call in the car. Haven't had that happen yet with the N5X.

Random side-note, the phone does actually have a small vibration if you try a finger print that has not been recorded. I got both of my index fingers and my wife's done in 1 attempt.

Another random side-note, the swiping up from the bottom of the screen to switch to Google Now no longer works. If you press and hold on the home button though, it will switch over to Google Now.

At 85% battery life right now.

Ordered today. 32gb Carbon Black. October 30- November 2. Looking forward to replacing my Nexus 4.

Sweet may go ahead and order this then. Was trying to decide between this and the 6P but I'm not too fund of phones over 5.2 inches. Just didn't wanna make a huge compromise to get a phone in the size I like

Just got my 5x tonight and can't get the sim card working. Now I'm reading about this Band 12 ****. If it can't read the sim at all is that a Band 12 issue or not? I can't get any service at all. I'll try to go to ATT and see if their sim will work but it might be the phone. What a pain in the ***.

Are you using an AT&T SIM? Were you using the SIM in another phone before the 5X?

I am enjoying it so far but I am having to get used to holding it a bit differently. Being wider than the Nexus 4 (not a mistype, my old N5 got a cracked screen so I traded it for a perfect condition N4) is making me have to hold it differently and then the case is adding a very small amount to it. I basically have it resting up against my fingers with my pinky under the charging port to make sure I don't drop it and then I swipe-type with my thumb on the Google Keyboard. I haven't typed with two hands since my Palm Treo days. I haven't done anything too CPU/GPU crazy yet so it actually doesn't seem that much faster that my N4.

I got the new N5X over a used N5 mainly because of it being a newer phone and the $50 Play Store credit that will get me movies on my AppleTV and Xbox through Disney Movies Anywhere. If there is anything specific you would like me to test specifically, I can do so before you order if you still have any reservations whatsoever.

Didn't order day one this time.
Ordered yesterday afternoon; shipped this afternoon.
Zero anxiety.

I did, yes. It should be here next week sometime. I was thinking of getting the 6P, but I like my Nexus 5 and I don't want too big of a phone- I have a tablet, laptop, AND desktop. I don't need a giant phone.

Cannot wait to get my hands on it. Has the Nexus 5 been delivered on the early or late side?

Ordered late Wednesday night.
Shipped Thursday morning.
Will arrive on Monday.
Paid for 2 day shipping because I'm impatient. Got smacked in the face because I forgot I ordered late mid-week so now I have to wait all weekend for it. Fedex actually already has my package, but refuse to deliver it a business day early. Kinda peeved, but that's life.

Ordered 32gb White on Thursday and paid for next day and it's literally shipping from only 3 hours away and won't be delivered till Monday. Needless I'm a little miffed right now.

Mine shipped Thursday coming from California here to Utah. Said it would not be delivered till Wednesday. This morning it arrived At local FedEx facility. Probably get it today but still claims i wont get it till Monday. So don't trust the delivery date.

Same here. Says it's at my local facility as of 635am today. Will they deliver on Saturday? Delivery still says 10/27

After some back and forth exchange between a FedEx CSR and some calming down on my part, I can 100% confirm that they will NOT delivery early despite the package arriving at your local facility early and they will NOT deliver on Saturdays unless you had the option to purchase Saturday delivery at time of purchase. My package arrived at my local facility early yesterday morning with a Monday delivery date. I was very excited that I was going to get my 5X early, until I saw on the FedEx tracking app that they had scanned my package back into the facility with the message "Package not due for delivery." I tweeted @FedExHelp and I was told to email them with my tracking number and info. I did as instructed and this was their textbook reply..

"Thank you for responding with the requested information. Your package was shipped on FedEx 2-day service on yesterday and has a commitment date of Monday, October 26th (Saturday delivery was not requested). The package did arrive early to our station, but packages scheduled for delivery on Monday are containerized and are not unloaded until Monday. It will be delivered on Monday by 8:00 PM. The package does not require a signature so if no one is home to sign for the package the driver should leave it for you."

Complete BS. Both USPS and UPS have always delivered my packages early if they arrived to their local facilities early. I really don't know why FedEx doesn't. So much for paying extra for 2Day shipping..

Yeah I assumed it was Monday regardless since it said on the tracking page Weekday delivery option. And the annoying thing I could have saved 5 bucks and went with the 2 day and it likely would have been Monday as well.

Ordered mine last Tues. (10/20) and it's been sitting on a FedX truck since Saturday 5:48am "waiting for delivery." Been a long weekend! Carbon 32GB with Nexus Protect, to replace my much loved Moto X 2013.. the 2015 X just too big.

Hope you get it today man. I've gotta pay down my credit card before I can order and its killing me.

So after much deliberation, I have decided to send the phone back to Google. Even though my old phone is a 3 year old Nexus 4, it is just as fast and as capable for my needs. I have not experienced any slow downs or unresponsiveness one might expect from an older phone running Android 5.1.1. I dont do any major gaming or CPU/GPU intensive tasks. The N5X is also just over the threshold for being too big for me. The original Nexus 5 was just on the edge for size, but the N5X pushes over that edge, being larger than I can deal with. The unnecessarily large bezel on the sides and the large height above and below the screen just for the ear piece and speaker are too much. So for now, Im just going to go back to my N4 and maybe one day I will get an old N5 again off eBay or something as I really enjoyed that phone (before I was careless and dropped it without a case).
