JT Super Clean Rom available on Rom Manager

Issues

i have downloaded rom manager, and done everything i can think of but i constantly get the error message "failed to verify whole-file signature."
When im in the system recovery screen. i have a Fascinate, and its rooted. this would be my first Rom flash... and all i really wanna do is the voodoo kernal.
any suggestions?
thanks in advance.

**edit**found a post that i think helped me in www.fascinateforums.com

so, first time doing anything like this, and it doesnt work. I click to reboot and i get this "Android System Recovery" and at the bottom it says
install from package....
finding package....
opening update package...
verifying package...
E: Failed to seek in /cache/update.zip(invalid argument)
E: Signature verification failed
Installation Aborted

I also got the this error message the first time I ran ROM manager:

"E: Failed to seek in /cache/update.zip(invalid argument)
E: Signature verification failed
Installation Aborted"

I used the second line option in the RECOVERY section of ROM manager.

'Reboot into Recovery'

all went well after that.

You need Clockword Mod Recovery. Look for the sticky in Fascinate ROMs/Hacks.

maybe i screwed something up while doing this but i rooted a few weeks back and just decided to do a ROM ( if thats the correct way to say it) so i loaded in CWM using odin and all was good then dl'ed ROM Manager. next i found the JT super clean ROM and then did a backup, i also previously made a backup using titanium back, and when i went to flash it, it seems like nothing changed

A ROM is the tweaked version of Android, with JT's ROM it is deodexed which means the .odex files have been removed. The .odex files to my understanding are files that are phone and carrier specific. This is done in an attempt to speed up the phone, much like removing the bloat the carriers seem to love to add to Android. Most of the changes are behind the curtain, so to speak. In order to see significant changes to the GUI people install themes over the ROMS .

If you flashed JT's with the non voodoo kernel you should have a different boot up screen.

Hope this helped

It should have the stock android lock screen vs. the puzzle or the full screen swipe. Like mentioned before, there will be a few apps missing as well. Do you see any Verizon apps?

Anybody try JT voodoo kernel yet? If so, how is it? I had voodoo once before but didn't like how touchy it was. Wondering if this version is better.

Sent from my rooted, debinged, debloated, and JT Superclean ROM Fascinate.

Im debating on it myself but idk if i should install setCPU before i get the kernel or wait til after, and just do a full nandroid backup first.

I went ahead and installed the stable voodoo kernel and so far so good, i hear its a non overclockable version that just has the lagfix, BLN and colorfix (at 100% brightness only). So if you want to be able to overclock to 1.2ghz you'll have to get the other version's of the kernel.

I have setcpu installed right now. I'm thinking about leaving well enough alone right now unless I hear that the kernel is really worth it. I'm loving how smooth my phone is working right now.

so I just flashed this rom and I didn't choose neither the voodoo nor non-voodoo kernels... should I have?

Well besides a cool new boot animation, they speed up your phone greatly. It really depends on if you want to overclock (voodoo kernel) or not overclock (non voodoo kernel). To my knowledge, but I have the non voodoo now. Thinking about taking the voodoo plunge.

ok, if I install the non-voodoo kernel do I have to re-flash the rom? thanks for your help

So I got the JT super clean in all fine as well as the non voodoo kernal.
Everything is all fine but I just saw that someone mentioned that you should use tge voodoo kernal if you overclock. Is this true?
Also I noticed that when opening a youtube video straight from facebook it kept bringing up the force close, has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't had any problems yet with the force closing, but if you wanna know more about the overclocked voodoo kernel's they're in this thread here.

[RELEASE] Voodoo (v0.2) ext4 lagfix for Fascinate! Now with AOSP boot animations! - xda-developers

I don't know which one the stable one in ROM manager is yet, im tempted to try it though...if anyone else has tested it please let me know what you think. :)

Alright so I found out it's basically just the voodoo lag fix, bln and color fix. And it's non OC'd. But it works, hope this helps someone.

both kernels in rom manager (well all four if you count voodoo and non voodoo) are stock clock speeds.

no need to wipe when flashing a kernel.

if you are a beginner, stay away from voodoo.

heck, just stay away from voodoo in general until beta5 is working with our phones (most likely post froyo)

voodoo is still buggy and can be a pain to remove if it doesn't uninstall itself smoothly.

please make sure you acquaint yourself with the OS before you go changing roms, kernels, rooting, etc as all those things have the potential to get you in trouble if you don't know what you're doing. :)
