Hey, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posts to help out us android newbies. I did a lot of research when I knew I was going to switch from ATT to Verizon, and had completely decided on a droid X due to the fact that it had Froyo and great audio/bluetooth/gps hardware. However, after reading these forums, I decided to go with the Fascinate due to how open it is. It's been really easy to root and flash a new ROM to my phone, and, despite missing the great GPS functionality (hopefully fixed soon) and ability to use my wiimote to control the awesome emulators, I'm really pleased. I love to open up my gadgets with custom firmware/ROMs/kernels etc, and the Fascinate seems like it's going to have a nice community around it.
I'm curious though-- I flashed JT's ROM mostly to get google search as the default. In regards to the de-bloating, I haven't noticed many speed improvements, but my phone was flying before I installed the ROM. (I had debloated with the freeze function on Titanium Backup Pro before, however) Touchwiz actually isn't so bad-- it feels much smoother than blur, and is definitely smoother than my iphone 3g.
I guess my question is, did anyone actually have a 'slow' fascinate once they performed some rudimentary de-bloating, and maybe installed a new launcher? This thing is so fast, I have trouble believing people can see it as slow.
