Just got the official OTA

my girlfriend got the update 2013 16gb and has no problems ,me in the other hand no update for 2013 32gb n7 ,and we live together !!!

Still no update for me and my wife's Nexus 7 got the update last week. Slow rollouts are ok and I understand them but this is bordering on absurdity...

I have the wifi version so not a carrier issue. I would think the update should have been pushed already but from what I'm hearing lately maybe I'm better off without it anyway.

Thank yu, sparksd....the partitions cache wipe improved the performance immensely.

Good to hear that. It's useful to do every now and then, particularly when performance looks a little flaky. Real thanks goes to B. Diddy for his good how-to post.

I finally bit the bullet and updated my 2013 N7. I downloaded the factory images from Google. Then I flashed new bootloader, along with new system, cache, user images. After one reboot to convince itself that there was 32 G not 16G, I downloaded many of my spots and am enjoying lollipop.

I think doing a factory fresh install was a key to the system running smoothly.

Re: Not here yet

Honestly, I'm beginning to lose interest. I suppose we're all supposed to be jonesing for this update, but the way Google is handing it out seems absurdly arbitrary. I guess one day I'll get an alert, but by then I may just not care.

I was counting on Google being the one Android device vendor I could count on to have their %$#@ together, but between their handing off the Nexus 9 to HTC ('cause Asus did such a poor job with the N7? Really?) and this rollout, I'm beginning to wonder.

Just because it seems arbitrary to you doesn't mean it is. They could be going by serial number or alternating between all the different Nexus devices making the updates for say the N7 2013 for days apart. It could even be based on activation dates - unless they tell us, we won't know.

Pretty sure they try to work with different manufacturers mostly to avoid showing favoritism to one. I was surprised they used ASUS for both gens of Nexus 7.

Still nothing now I am getting annoyed. All the other devices got the update. At least a news article saying it was pulled would be good.

Agreed. My wife got it on her N7-2012. She doesn't even care, though she did go ahead & install it. Seems to be working fine (or at least she hasn't complained.) I, meanwhile, have been checking at least once a day on my 2013, and nothing. I've learned to be patient, but this is clearly beyond the length of a normal rollout, so something's up. They ought to just say what it is, or at least... something.

My wife is still waiting for her update. It does seem to be taking awhile... Though I got mine early, a few days before my Nexus 5.

It's not arbitrary, a Google engineer explained it to Leo Laporte last week. It's a 4 week rollout. First week 1% of nexus devices selected randomly, 2nd week is 25%, 3rd week another 25%, and 4th week is all the remainder. They do it this way to help discover bugs before the updates hit 100% of devices.

All of which sounds good, but if the early adopters got the bugs, then what? Too bad for them? Don't get it-if it wasn't ready to roll out, why do it? Think I'll wait til the smoke clears; til then Kit Kat is purring on my N7.Don't get me wrong, I prefer Google to all other vendors, and I think they are doing things other companies can only dream about, but the combo of releasing a new tablet that is getting, at best, mixed reviews, and how this update is going gives me the feeling they may be losing their grip. Dare I say it? Feels a little Microsofty to me.

Every single OS out there has the same problem. There are always bugs that escape testing that don't get caught until the public release. Rather than be upset, I'll give Google credit for not rolling the whole thing out en masse and then scrambling to patch up everyone instead of a smaller portion.

Remember, Apple had to recall iOS 8.0.1 too. The process is easier for them because they make all the phones it goes on.

Sounds about right. I wouldn't expect Google to catch everything. I got the OTA early, and haven't had major issues but it seems like the OS is 98% ready for prime time. I've gotten ocassional touch screen issues, lag in redrawing the homescreen, and slower responses in some apps, but those may not be th OS's fault. I rarely had any of those issues before. I'm also not crazy about all the aesthetic choices and think Lollipop is too white overall, but no big deal. I wanted to get the OTA early, but now that I've used it I think you guys who don't have it aren't missing much.
