Keep unlimited data when upgrading directly from Verizon, no loophole needed!

Verizon does not have to honor this, as it was a computer glitch. Sux, but that's the way it is.

You really think it was a glitch??......regardless if they don't honor it then everyone goes back to their old plan and Verizon loses all those upgrades. No big deal.

Please don't be so naive. This wasn't even advertised by Verizon, so why would people trust it?

It does remain to be seen if Verizon will honor it, but one thing I am sure is that Verizon does not have to honor it.

So you don't trust people on the Internet, but you trust an unconfirmed article based on what people on the Internet did as well as comments based on what people on the Internet wrote.

Yeah, I guess I see the logic, there. /s :)

No I didn't believe it. I went online and called and bought and picked up and am using with unlimited. That's what I know and believe.

Yeah it so happened to occur over several days and end on the last day of the quarter. Okay .........

Reports of this happening began what, yesterday? And ended today? Last I checked, 2 days were a couple, not several.

I get your point though. I look forward to reading VZW's 10Q to see how many subscribers Verizon gained, and/or how many "new" contracts got renewed. Then I'll look forward to reading the next 10Q after the end of the next quarter, as well as the 10K. Feel free to do the same...it's all public afterall.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah :) don't hate when Verizon honors such a thing...

Saw this yesterday morning and decided I'd try it. Purchased a G2 for in-store pick up around 9:00 am. Went about my day, then went to pick the phone up around 3:30 pm. When my name was called, I told the sales rep I was there for an in-store pick up and she retrieved the phone from the back. At the sales desk, I asked her to verify I would be able to keep my Unlimited Data if I signed a new contract. She quickly replied that I would definitely lose my unlimited. She said that I once the new phone would be activated, my Unlimited Data would turn into 6GB/mo. The reps use iPads to ring up sales and she hid the screen from me while doing something on the screen. She then showed me the screen and sure enough, my data plan showed 6GB/mo for $30. My first thought was that she actually changed my order, and I told her I was keeping my unlimited and walked out the door. That experience just felt shady to me...

I got home from the store around 4:30 pm and read more about others' experience with this glitch throughout the day. I decided to try again. Purchased another G2 for in-store pick up at another location in my city. Got the processing text, then the pick up ready text at around 5:00 pm. Headed to the VZW store across town and didn't mention anything about a plan change this time. Rep pulled the phone from the back room and proceeded to finalize the sale and activate the phone. I did notice a puzzled look on his face while processing the sale and he did console with a couple of other reps before phone activation. After about 15 min, I was out the door with a new G2 for under $200. At this point I still don't know for sure if my unlimited data was retained. Stopped at a restaurant for dinner and logged into My Verizon to check my plan. Sure enough, Unlimited Data was still on my account. After I got home, I checked my account on-line, and Unlimited Data was still there.

I sure hope others took advantage of this glitch. I'm sure glad I read this forum...

It was a glitch from what I read but I'd think they would honor it since the glitch happened and it was not at fault of the customer upgrading.

the glitch happening twice isn't a glitch, remember the "fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you"?

The worst thing that would happen would be that you would have to return the phone to reinstate unlimited data.

I don't think that Verizon would without your knowledge switch you to tiered data, that would be bad publicity if they didn't notify you.

I agree with this. If anything they'd do what some users are reporting.. Canceling the order instead of fulfilling it. They can't sell you unlimited then behind your back switch you to tiered.. That's bait and switch and is highly illegal.

This has nothing to do with hate...for Pete's sake, I'm not one of those Verizon Community people that hates on people like me for having unlimited data while they have to share 2GB with 5 people, use Wi-Fi all the time and then prays that Verizon takes away my unlimited. Trust me, that's hate...

My thing is more or less caution. I don't trust Verizon anymore than I can throw them...and I couldn't throw them very far.
