Re: [Kernel][CM7] XioniaRedux 2.6.32.33 07272011

Installation:
1) Download kernel ZIP
2) Place ZIP on root of sd card
3) Reboot to recovery mode
4) Flash kernel ZIP as you would a ROM
5) PROFIT!

Noob here....
Ok, just want to make sure I have this right... 2.6.32.33 07272011 Is a kernel... not a ROM ehh?
I still do the wipes in recovery Pre Flash?
Thx

There is no need to a data wipe when you flash a kernel but generally speaking it's not a bad idea to wipe the cache/dalvik cache (though again, shouldn't be required).

Thanks man, appreciate it.

You sure? I'm looking over the updater-script and it definitely does copy the modules. I think the issue is actually that it didn't delete the old TCP and dma_test modules. The version names between those and the kernel won't match, which could be the cause of this error.

Code:
mount("MTD", "system", "/system");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
unmount("/system");

Yes, I'm sure. Update the modules, check the md5 or SHA sums. The modules exist on a separate filesystem from /system which AnyKernel is not updating.

The modules are in /system/lib/modules, and the installer zip IS installing them. I already fixed this issue.

Please read this post for reference.

Just flashed 072711 to my OV. Using ath3nos ROM. Everything works fine. Thanks

I know where the modules are, but what I'm telling you is that AnyKernel won't update them. /system/lib/modules is a separate filesystem that is, AFAIK, not being mounted by CW recovery. I'm not talking about what you did or didn't include in your zip, I'm talking about AnyKernel not properly copying over the modules in my tests.

Thank you for your concern (seriously) but this issue has been fixed. There has even been a version bump since the issue was fixed, and no issues with modules have been reported.

Please refer to this post by the developer of the AnyKernel updater that specifically talks about the kernel and modules.

Also, the Picasticks kernel uses the AnyKernel updater exclusively and has never had any module loading issues, regardless of version bumps.

You both have been extremely helpful to this community and become the ones that we rely on for our cm7 fix (addicts we are!). I love how far this has come already and seeing how willing you guys are to help one another or try to point something out before it causes issues for another. We are all grateful for you guys and hopefully it reflects in our time, dedication, and support how much we apprecciate you guys in this community. Ath3nos included!

[INFO]I'm leaving.

But only for a few days! In an hour from the time of this writing, I'll be on my way up to the amazing Rocky Mountains. Unfortunately I will not have any access to the forums and won't be around to answer questions during this time. No parties, kids. And the house better be clean when I get back. LMFAO!!![/INFO]

Maybe its because I'm trying it from inside a building. I will try outside when I get a chance.

Re: [Kernel][CM7] XioniaRedux 2.6.32.33 07272011

I personally tried outside and inside, and various different gps programs, im getting nothing. Went back to 7-25 and it didnt work .. maybe I was on 7-23.. gonna try that.

Just odd as I never had any sort of GPS issue on this phone.. and coming from a samsung moment that was a godsend.

Re: [Kernel][CM7] XioniaRedux 2.6.32.33 07272011

Well isnt a kernal issue I dont think , just tried zefies original xionia kernal and it didnt work.. guess time to bite the bullet and do full wipe/reflash

Optimus V!?

Rocking this on the Backside rom for the Optimus V. Mmm creamy goodness. Thanks for this lovely kernel. ;)

Re: [Kernel][CM7] XioniaRedux 2.6.32.33 07272011

Why is this kernel not used by Optimus V IHO?

Why is this kernel not used by Optimus V IHO?

It is... By me! And it runs superb. Right now I do prefer it to the stock IHO kernel on Backside. I mean the V and the S are basically the same phone right? Once the issue with USB debugging is fixed it'll be golden.

Does this kernel support swap? I don't appear to be able to enable my swap partition. I read that the kernel must also support swap, along with the CPU. CPU supports swap.

On the other hand, I could just have my head up my ass, but I thought I would ask before I made that assumption... :p
