[Kernel] Genocide 1.2GHz Froyo DK28/EB13 RFS/EXT4

quick question about this rom, so if you manually updated via samsungs website. Stock froyo everything. How would you go on and install this with ext4? would it work? I see it says compatible, but i was thinking dk28 rom with EB13 kernel. I'm a complete noob, I just want to understand. If someone could clear it up for me, that would be nice. Thanks.

DK28 ROM with this kernel is fine. Even EB13 with this kernel is fine. However, EXT4 is not working yet. There should be an update soon however.

I think the key might be having a deodexed system for EXT4, which TER is. Still need to confirm.

If it didn't work with TER 1.5 for whatever reason couldn't it just be restored if you have a clockwork back up?

Any suggestions on SetCPU settings to get the undervolt and not leave it laggy as hell? I have max:1000 min:200 Ondemand which is still wicked fast but I don't seem to be getting any better battery. When switched to Conservative it becomes slow, not necessarily unresponsive, but certainly not snappy...

It might help to raise your CPU min to something higher.

Also, this kernel is updated to v.2a.

Yeah, but wouldn't it then be sitting at that higher min setting even at idle?

Thanks for the catch, I look like a dolt enough that I don't need my profile announcing it to all! :D

It does raise your idle speed, but it might not affect your battery that much...and it should make your phone a little snappier.

I was just announcing the update to this thread in general. You should update your phone to the new kernel. The new kernel comes with these updates:

0.2a:
New EB13 initramfs (no more DK28 stuff)
-Added EXT4 Support
-Added bootanimation support
-Updated kernel modules from EB18
-Added recovery (need to test redirector)

No sweat. I am rocking the update, just a little lysdexic with the period. ;)

Of the 5 scaling options, is conservative the one I want? Or a better question from the feeble mind, is there a FAQ that outlines the functions within the app so as to understand for myself the advantages of one over the other?

Oh, nice! I'm updating to the new kernel now.

Generally you should leave the scaling to conservative. To my knowledge, that is the step that most devs tweak because it is the default step.

I know they got all freaked out for a direct link- but the updated links look like there's just for EB13, Viper and Bonsai support- or can I flash the viper one with TER1.5 and be fine?

Wondering the same thing... I'm on Midnight 3.3, DK28 and the original Genocide kernel... is the newest kernel still compatible with both DK28 and EB13, or is it just for EB13 now? Hopefully compatible with both given issues with EB13 and the number of people that have chosen to wait to upgrade...

Thanks

I would assume it's DK28 compatible based on the title of the XDA thread:

Thanks... in our defense, when that kernel was originally linked and posted it did not have that ( ) afterward the title... thanks for the insight though... flashing now...

I had both versions installed on dk 28 . Worked just fine. And installed .2 on eb13 with no problems. Was ext4 with all of them. None of them would let me idle at 100 mhz though. Hurts my battery life more than t helped me. I could go 24 hours and only drop 10% if idling without kernel. With kernel I drop a 3 to 5 percent per hour at least. Hard to tell differance at 1 ghz undervolted.

Rodderik/Tm Viper released version .3a which also includes camera force close fix/video lag fix.....these guys are pretty amazing.

I flashed Genocide Kernel but Pandora did not work. In addition to that, my 3g internet was not as fast as it was before I flashed my Epic with the Genocide 1.2. I went back to TER. Now everything is great again. Can someone tell me why pandora did not work and my 3G internet was slow?
Thank you.
