Launcher Pro makes the Fascinate the phone it should be.

Installed the latest version of Launch Pro

The default contact icon on the home screen gives me an error. Anyone get this?

Yeah.. You just have to change it.. do a long tap on the icon then change shortcut..then applications.. Then contacts.. Should be good from there..

Tried that and it force me to pick from lost. Select contact, it bring up the list of contact to pick from

I've used LP in the past and loved it. I must admit I'm not seeing a need for it on my Fascinate.

I tend to agree. I even have the default live wallpaper up still... it's just so pretty. The fact that I can switch out my default icons on the bottom row make me content with its interface. But maybe someday I'll get Launcher Pro, because I did have it on most of the Droid 1's I went through.

I agree with you. I had lp on my Droid but I have no.issues with stock launcher on fascinate. It may just be the new factor of it but until I get bored I'm keeping touchwiz

I tried LP but went back to the Samsung interface. It was pretty much a coin-toss for me.

When you guys get to the first "Select Shortcut" menu (after the long-press), do NOT click on "Contact" from that menu, that will ask you to put a single contact there.... Rather, click on "Applications", then choose "Contacs" from that list. This will assign the whole "Contacts" application to that button.

I personally moved my Contacts out onto the main screen, and then replaced what was the Contacts, with the Gmail App, ... this provides a dedicated gmail on my Dock, and also shows the Gmail (new items) counter when new mail arrives.

If you like the look of the "gray" LauncherPro Icons.. then after you've chosen the application, and it asks you about icon.. make sure to select the Launcher Pro icons and you should see a bunch of the nice/professional gray ones... or, stick with the default icon for that app.

TW was ok, I can't stand the widgets that take up the whole screen, so I'm not missing the Samsung widgets. The main reason I switched back to LP, besides the fact it's awesome, is that stupid application screen TW has where you scroll like an iphone and there's no way to sort the icons other than move them manually, that's damn goofy, like leaving a led off the phone for different alerts, I won't go there... And no, the list view is not an option, it stinks almost as bad. I love the 3D view in LP app view, and the 5 icon row option I can't live without now.

I'd love to pay for LP+ but I can't find it on the Market, I'd rather not go to his website to pay for it, I like how the Market remembers what I've purchased.

You can just go to the market and search on LauncherPro. Check out AppBrain though. It makes it so much easier to manage your apps.

I don't mind the horizontal scroll, but the non-sorting thing is pretty bad. You can "clear defaults" and that will re-sort all your apps, but you lose all the other changes you made to the screens.

Once you install LP there is a link in LP settings to buy LP+, it takes you to PayPal, and I'm guessing after that he emails you an unlock code to enable the Plus functionality. I wish he'd just put LauncherPro Plus on the Market, even if he were to add 50 cents or a buck to the cost... IMO not being in the Market is keeping him from having more Plus users. Like me...

Again, he cannot put his Plus version on the market because Google Market will not allow him to accept payments because he's in a country that isn't supported right now. He would if he could...trust me. It would be a heckova lot easier for him to get paid.

The only Launcher Pro I can find in the market is free??? Is that the correct one? I thought someone had said that there is a free version and a paid version and the paid version was better.

You download the free version from the Market, and then you buy the license from here. Once you have the key, you will open up preferences, and scroll to the bottom to enter it in. He is unable to sell the app in the Market, because he's not in a country that allows him to.
