Does anyone know if this updated includes an option to keep the capacitive button back lights on for the length the screen is on?

Mine go out a little before the screen does, like 5 seconds before, so I guess not... I think that depends on the kernel, which we're still waiting on Samsung to release the source for, but I could be wrong on that.

Kinda a noob
I have done several mods in the past but never on an Adroid Device.
112 pages of reading and I am more confused then ever

Red, green, blue, new, old! Is this a wedding or a phone update?

I have a fascinate and want to try froyo
It is rooted
Used Titanium to backup my stuff
I will ODIN DL09
this is where it gets confusing.
I see people are having battery issues with red so they now say use new green. Please help me or revive the 1st page to include the green or keep it as is and add new green at the end to fix the battery woes.

Thanx

Go with red . As that's the suggested stance of the developers, ....not all phones react the same way. Some times you need to try a different approach...go with red then if its a disaster .seek us out . ..go with page one

How do I do the factory reset? And just to clarify, a factory reset will clear all of my stuff but my Gmail accounts and my Backup assistant will keep my contacts?

Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.

Yes and Yes, although I would recommend ditching Backup Assistant in favor of syncing everything with Gmail.

I do both and I export to SD aswell..can never be to careful

If you have app brain, isn't that just as well as having titanium backup? Doesnt app brain store all your 3rd party apps, so you just sync with app brain and you get them all back?

Went perfectly smooth for me. Here were my steps in case anybody cares

ran a Titanium backup for apps and data
Sync with Appbrain
factory wipe
full Froyo instructions from Post #1
reprovisioned on first bootup in Froyo
installed Appbrain
reinstalled all apps using Appbrain
Restored a handful of app data but otherwise kept it clean

Overall it was a REALLY smooth update.

app brain only remembers what apps to download....titanium will remember your apps and system data, it will also load them all with one touch if you purchase it

I shoulda Titanium BAcked up... Now I can't reDL NFS Shift which I purchased for a buck...

I could use a little help here, as the first part isn't working for me.

My phone was rooted and one of the first voodoo lag fixes was applied. Other than "Freezing" some of the bloatware that came with the phone, I have not done anything else with the root.

My phone says it has build number SCH-I500.DH12. Somehow my phone never updated to any of the "DI" patches. I am guessing this is the problem, as I tried to go into CWR and it goes straight into the Android recovery (blue text) instead.

Can anyone suggest what I should do to move forward?
Thank you

You need to install either DJ05 or DL09 radio using Odin.

They stay on when the screen is on, right up until the screen brightness steps down, about 3 seconds before the screen times out.

The important thing is that they come on when the screen comes on. You don't have to tap one first. In DL09 they made the button backlights stay on for the duration of the screen staying on, but they do not come on until you find one and tap it first.

Disappearing Apps

Did anyone else wake up this morning to find half of their apps missing? I cycled my phone and they came back, but I've never experienced anything like this....

same here except i DID use titanium backup and for some reason it did not back up NFS shift but it did backup tetris and sims 3.....

Install THIS VERSION of CWM in Odin.

Place THIS FILE on your SD card.

After that. Boot into recovery mode (blue) and select apply update.zip. It will take you to the old green. Install the new cwm.zip. Then, go to the advanced menu in CWM and select reboot recovery. Apply update.zip again. You'll be in the new green CWM. Install DL30.zip from there.

Does this also work for the official OTA update?

looks like a more bloat filled version of Froyo is floating around now. Droid-life has a few pictures on their twitter of a EB01 build.

any way to do this with out a pc I have seen this on xda devolopers did understand how it worked with out pc

I did at work without a PC. Just download the DL30 and new CWM zip files using the phones browser, boot to recovery, flash DL30 first, and then flash the new CWM. worked for me without any problems. it did take awhile downloading the DL30 file but that's to be expected when doing it directly from the phone.
